Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has a long-term impact on children's growth and development, and is a priority for health programmes in Indonesia. Sukowiryo Village, which is part of the Jelbuk Community Health Centre's working area in Jember Regency, still has cases of stunting among toddlers, which are thought to be influenced by multidimensional factors such as maternal education, family income, exclusive breastfeeding, the quality of complementary foods, history of infection, and environmental sanitation conditions. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the incidence of stunting and determine the dominant factors in Sukowiryo Village. The study uses an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consists of all toddlers aged 24–59 months residing in the village, and the sample was determined through total sampling of 30 toddlers. The dependent variable was the incidence of stunting. The independent variables included maternal education, family income, exclusive breastfeeding, quality of complementary foods, history of infection, and environmental sanitation. Data were collected through questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, and verification of maternal and child health (MCH) cards. Analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test for bivariate relationships and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. The results of the study indicate that maternal education, family income, exclusive breastfeeding, quality of complementary feeding, history of infection, and environmental sanitation are significantly associated with stunting (p

Abstract

Childbirth is the process of expelling the products of conception through the birth canal or with medical assistance. Vaginal delivery may result in perineal rupture due to tearing of the birth canal tissues, which can contribute to maternal morbidity and increase the risk of maternal mortality. Several factors are associated with the occurrence of perineal rupture, including neonatal birth weight, maternal age, and parity. This study aimed to determine the relationship between parity and the incidence of perineal rupture. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between parity and the incidence of perineal rupture. These findings indicate that parity alone may not be a determining factor in the occurrence of perineal rupture during vaginal delivery, and that other factors may play a more important role.

Abstract

DMPA is a hormonal contraceptive method that is often used because of its high effectiveness. However, some users report side effects in the form of decreased libido. This study used a cross-sectional design involving 150 DMPA injectable contraceptive acceptors at several health centers in City Y. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of use of the 3-month DMPA (Depo Medroxy Progesterone Acetate) injectable contraceptive device and the decrease in libido in birth control acceptors in PMB Hanifatuzzaqiya Senduro Lumajang. In this research, the research design used is a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach, namely a type of research that emphasizes measuring or observing independent and dependent variable data only once at a time. The sampling method uses a purposive sampling method, namely samples taken according to certain characteristics of 75 respondents. The data analysis technique used is data quality testing which consists of validity and reliability tests. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the duration of DMPA injection contraceptive use for 3 months and a decrease in libido in contraceptive acceptors with p-value = 0.007.

Abstract

Pregnant women commonly experience sleep disturbances, which may affect maternal well-being. Prenatal exercise is a non-pharmacological intervention that can improve sleep quality by promoting relaxation and reducing physical discomfort. This study aimed to examine the effect of prenatal exercise on sleep quality among pregnant women. A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was conducted from May to August 2024. A total of 33 pregnant women were selected using purposive sampling. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) before and after participation in a structured prenatal exercise program conducted regularly. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The mean PSQI score decreased significantly from 12.39 before the intervention to 5.44 after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a substantial improvement in sleep quality. Prenatal exercise has a significant positive effect on sleep quality in pregnant women. It can be recommended as a safe and effective intervention to be integrated into routine antenatal care services.

Abstract

Back pain is one of the most common discomforts experienced by pregnant women in the third trimester. Back pain can occur due to pressure on the back muscles or shifting of the spine, which puts pressure on joints. Back pain in pregnant women often arises from pressure on the back muscles or spinal shifts, leading to joint compression. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of prenatal exercise in alleviating back pain among third-trimester pregnant women. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest-posttest, was employed. The population included all third-trimester pregnant women visiting PMB Safara Kedawung Kulon, totaling 35 individuals, who were sampled using a total sampling technique. Pain assessment was conducted using the standardized Face Pain Scale-Revised questionnaire, which did not require additional validity testing. Data were analyzed univariately through frequency percentages and bivariately using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results indicated that all respondents experienced back pain. During the pretest, the highest level of reported pain was more severe, experienced by 13 respondents (37.1%). Following the prenatal exercise intervention, the posttest showed that 18 respondents (51.4%) reported mild pain. Wilcoxon statistical testing yielded an Asymp. Sig. 0.001, demonstrating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Consequently, it was concluded that prenatal exercise has a significant effect on back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester. These findings advocate for the systematic integration of evidence-based exercise protocols into standard maternal healthcare practices, empowering midwives to offer safe, cost-effective pain management strategies that enhance maternal comfort and well-being during late pregnancy.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is considered a national concern as it mirrors the social and economic well-being of the population and significantly impacts the quality of human capital. It is often referred to as a “potential risk to both mother and child.” This study employed a qualitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental design, specifically utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest format. An initial assessment (pretest) was conducted prior to the intervention, followed by a post-intervention assessment (posttest) to evaluate any changes resulting from the treatment. The sampling method for this research used a non- probability sampling method with total sampling. To determine the sample in this research, the Slovin formula was used. The results of hypothesis testing using the paired t test obtained p(sig.) 0.000 <0.05, then H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected, meaning there was a significant difference in the mean value of the pretest score (Hb level before being given mackerel) and posttest results (Hb levels after being given mackerel), so it can be concluded that there is an influence of consumption of mackerel on change in hemoglobin level in pregnant women with anemia. The findings of the study indicate that anemia in pregnant women is caused by multiple factors, with one key contributor being inadequate iron levels in the body, along with a reduction in red blood cell count or a lowered hemoglobin concentration in the bloodstream. During pregnancy, anemia occurs because pregnant women experience hemodilution (dilution).

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy marks the onset of a biological process that starts with the release of an egg, followed by its fertilization, implantation in the uterus, and continues with the growth and development of the fetus until birth. Every phase of pregnancy presents a critical period that demands both mental and physical adaptation due to hormonal changes and the bodily strain from the expanding uterus and surrounding tissues. Among the earliest signs experienced are nausea and vomiting, which may stem from either psychological stress or physiological shifts. The purpose of this research is to examine how lavender aromatherapy influences nausea and vomiting among women in their first trimester of pregnancy. Method: This research employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-test post-test approach without a control group. The study involved comparing the participants' scores before and after the intervention. A total of 24 first-trimester pregnant women were selected as participants using purposive sampling, with data collected through questionnaire forms. This indicates that there was a measurable difference between the pre-test and post-test outcomes. Therefore, it can be concluded that lavender aromatherapy had a beneficial impact in alleviating nausea and vomiting among first-trimester pregnant women in Lebakharjo Village, Ampelgading in 2025. Conclusion: Lavender aromatherapy may serve as an alternative non-pharmacological approach to help relieve nausea and vomiting in women during the first trimester of pregnancy.
