Abstract

The Kahayan River plays an important role in the lives of the people of Palangka Raya City, particularly for residents living in riverside areas. The high dependence on the river, without being balanced by adequate sanitation systems and spatial planning, has caused various environmental and health problems, such as increased cases of diarrhea and digestive disorders. This study aims to evaluate the water quality of the Kahayan River using rapid assessment methods with a quantitative approach through laboratory testing. Sampling was conducted at three locations: Tumbang Rungan, Pahandut Seberang, and Bereng Bengkel. Analysis was performed on physicochemical parameters (temperature, pH, BOD, COD, and iron content) as well as microbiological parameters (number of E. coli bacteria). Results show that all water samples do not meet drinking water quality standards based on PP No. 22 of 2021. Low pH and high levels of COD and E. coli, particularly in Pahandut Seberang, reflect domestic waste pollution. Conversely, lower COD and BOD values in Bereng Bengkel indicate natural dilution processes. Based on these findings, efforts to improve sanitation infrastructure, change community behavior towards clean living, and optimize waste management are needed to reduce health risks from water pollution in Kahayan riverside settlement areas.

Abstract

The ear requires proper care to function as part of the auditory system. However, many people are unaware of maintaining ear health. A contributing factor is a lack of knowledge. Cotton buds disrupt the ear's natural cleaning mechanism by pushing earwax deeper, causing cerumen impaction. This study examined the relationship between knowledge levels and cerumen impaction using a cross-sectional approach with proportionate stratified random sampling. A total of 162 respondents were involved, including 76 students from the 2021 intake and 86 from the 2022 intake. The results showed 80 respondents (49.4%) had good knowledge, 62 (38.3%) sufficient knowledge, and 20 (12.3%) insufficient knowledge. A total of 53 respondents experienced cerumen impaction. Bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between knowledge level and cerumen impaction. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the incidence of cerumen impaction in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Palangka Raya University.

Health promotion with topics regarding personal hygiene reproductives organs and flour albus in MAN Palangka Raya city has long not have been done, therefore, health education on flour albus prevention needs to be given. The goal of giving students a health education is to improve knowledge and information related to the prevention of flour albus with the application of personal hygiene organs in the school students of MAN Palangka Raya City. A health education activity carried out in the high school of man city roadblocks. The activities carried out are the educational delivery of flour albus as well as the prevention of personal hygiene. After that, a Q&A session performed between the students and the activity team and followed by a Q&A session as well as a quiz gift. Students who participate in this activity experience improved knowledge of flour albus prevention with the application of personal hygiene practices of reproductive organs, as shown by an average increase in post test results, this is from the pre-test with an average of 5.92 to 7.12 when the post-test performed. Similar activities need to be carried out regularly to students of the MAN Palangka Raya City, that they can apply proper personal hygiene of reproductive organs in preventing flour albus.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between stress levels and noise exposure among furniture workers. This study is an analytical descriptive research with a cross-sectional study design approach. The research location is at a furniture workshop in the Pahandut Seberang area of Palangka Raya. The study population consists of all workers in the furniture workshop in Pahandut Seberang and residents within a 100-meter radius of the workshop, who are considered to be at risk of noise exposure. The sample for this study was taken using a random sampling method. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test, with a confidence level of 95% (p = 0.05), and the results are considered significant if p ≤ 0.05. The results showed p < 0.05, with a p-value of 0.004, indicating that there is a significant relationship between noise exposure and stress levels among workers and residents in the furniture workshop area of Pahandut Seberang. This result suggests that exposure to noise above 85 dBA may have a significant impact on stress levels in this population.

Abstract

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinus mucosa and is one of the world's health problems and is often found in medical practice. The National Health Interview survey in 2012, found that 12% of the total sample of 34,525 adults experienced sinusitis. Allergic rhinitis is one of the factors causing sinusitis due to bacterial infection of the sinus tract due to blockage of the sinus ostium and mucus that cannot be drained due to allergic reactions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between allergic rhinitis and the incidence of sinusitis in patients at RSUD dr Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross section study design conducted at RSUD dr Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya. The subjects in this study were patients with a history of allergic rhinitis and sinusitis for the period 2021-2023 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were 271 research samples where the statistical test showed a p value = 0.000 and OR = 0.092. Allergic rhinitis has an association with sinusitis and allergic rhinitis has a chance of developing sinusitis.
