Abstract

Obesitas pada anak dan remaja menjadi perhatian serius karena prevalensi yang semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya di seluruh dunia. Obesitas pada anak dan remaja berhubungan dengan peningkatan risiko terjadinya gangguan toleransi glukosa, dislipidemia dan diabetes. Hemoglobin terglikasi (HbA1c) telah direkomendasikan menjadi alat diagnostik untuk mengidentifikasi diabetes. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan rerata kadar HbA1c pada remaja dengan obesitas dan remaja non obesitas.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional dengan pendekatan potong lintang. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Palembang dan Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya dan didapatkan 50 subjek yang terdiri dari kelompok remaja dengan obesitas dan kelompok remaja non obesitas. Pada subjek penelitian dilakukan pemeriksaan status gizi dengan cara mengukur indeks massa tubuh menurut umur dan jenis kelamin. Pemeriksaan kadar HbA1c dilakukan dengan menggunakan NycocardReader.Hasil penelitian dengan uji alternatif Mann Whitney menunjukkan nilai p sebesar 0,000 (p<0,05) dengan rerata kadar HbA1c pada remaja obes sebesar 6,1% dan rerata kadar HbA1c pada remaja non-obes sebesar 4,7%. Kesimpulannya, kadar HbA1c pada remaja usia 15-19 tahun yang obes lebih tinggi daripada non-obes.

Abstract

Kualitas tidur dikatakan baik apabila tidak menunjukkan berbagai tanda kekurangan tidur dan tidak mengalami masalah dalam tidurnya. Kondisi kurang tidur pun banyak ditemui dikalangan dewasa muda terutama mahasiswa yang nantinya bisa menimbulkan banyak efek, seperti berkurangnya konsentrasi belajar dan gangguan kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan kualitas tidur dengan indeks prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Farmasi Bhakti Pertiwi Palembang.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik observasional yang dilakukan pada bulan Juli-Desember 2016. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa STIFI sebanyak 107 orang dari 3 angkatan. Data didapatkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Hasil yang diperoleh di analisis dengan uji statistik Chi-square menggunakan IBM SPSS 22.Mahasiswa dengan kualitas tidur buruk sebanyak 61 (57%) orang. Mahasiswa STIFI didominasi dengan mahasiswa yang memiliki IPK memuaskan 84 (78,5%) orang. Ada hubungan bermakna antara kualitas tidur dengan indeks prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Farmasi Bhakti Pertiwi Palembang (p=0,037). Ditemukan adanya hubungan antara kualitas tidur dengan indeks prestasi kumulatif mahasiswa dengan nilai p=0,037.

Abstract

Saat ini, akses masyarakat terhadap obat-obatan semakin mudah. Namun, hal tersebut tidak disertai dengan pemahaman yang benar terhadap obat-obatan. Akibatnya, hal tersebut menimbulkan berbagai masalah terkait obat seperti penggunasalahan dan pembuangan obat secara sembarangan. Oleh karena itu, masyarakat perlu diberi pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang benar tentang cara mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan dan membuang obat (DAGUSIBU). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berupa pendampingan dengan kegiatan utama penyuluhan dan demonstrasi tentang DAGUSIBU terhadap masyarakat di Kelurahan Keputeraan, Kota Lubuklinggau, Sumatera Selatan. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 34 orang peserta yang terdiri dari masyarakat dan kader kesehatan. Analisis keberhasilan kegiatan dilakukan dengan melakukan evaluasi sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan. Dari kegiatan tersebut dapat diketahui bahwa hampir seluruh peserta tidak mengetahui tentang DAGUSIBU. Setelah diberikan penyuluhan dan demonstrasi, sebagian beserta dapat memamahi dengan baik dan memiliki keterampilan sederhana dalam DAGUSIBU. Dari hasil tersebut, diharapkan masyarakat dapat menerapkannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa penyuluhan ini telah dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam DAGUSIBU sehingga perlu diupayakan kegiatan yang berkesinambungan guna mencegah penggunasalahan obat dalam masyarakat. Kata kunci: DAGUSIBU, Obat, Pendampingan, Penyuluhan ABSTRACT Today, people's access to medicines is getting easier. However, this is not accompanied by a correct understanding of medicines. As a result, it raises various drug-related problems such as medicines abuse and indiscriminate disposal. Therefore, people need to be given the right knowledge and skills on how to get, use, store and dispose of medicines (DAGUSIBU). This community service activity is in the form of assistance with the main activities of counseling and demonstration about DAGUSIBU to the community in Keputeraan Village, Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra. About 34 participants consisting of community members and health cadres attended the activity. Analysis of the success of activities carried out by evaluating before and after counseling. From these activities, it can be seen that almost no participants knew about DAGUSIBU. After being given counseling and demonstration, some of them along with be able to understand well and have simple skills in DAGUSIBU. From these results, it is expected that the community can apply it in everyday life. Community service activities in the form of counseling have been able to improve the knowledge and skills of the community in DAGUSIBU so that it needs to be pursued in a sustainable activity to prevent the use of drug problems in the community. Abstract

Background. Cherry parasite (Dendrophthoe pentandra L.) is a semi-parasitic plant that takes food from host body, so that phytochemical same as host plant. These phytochemicals have effect to inhibiting the action of the enzyme alpha glucosidase, such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and terpenoids/steroids. The aim of this study is to find out the effect of the cherry parasite to inhibiting the enzyme alpha glucosidase. Methods. This is an in vitro experimental study. Cherry parasite was fractionated with n-hexane and reacted by enzyme. Acarbose used as a positive control. The inhibitory effect on the alpha glucosidase was determined from the IC50 value by measuring the absorbance of p-nitrophenol using spectrophotometry as a result of the reaction of the enzyme. Screening phytochemical to determine the phytochemical of n-hexane fraction. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sriwijaya, Palembang. Results. The yield of n-hexane fraction was 7%. Phytochemical test showed that the sample contain flavonoids and terpenoids. IC50 value of n-hexane fraction was 106,333 ppm and categorized not active. Conclusion. The n-hexane fraction of cherry parasite contains flavonoids and terpenoids that considered not active to inhibiting the action of the enzyme alpha glucosidase.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of lowering blood glucose. The study was conducted in an experimental laboratory in vivo with one group randomized prepost-test design. The extract was made through the gradual maceration process of Benalu Kersen leaf simplicia with ethanol solvent. The extract was divided into three groups with doses of 65 mg / kg, 130 mg / kg, and 260 mg / kg of body weight. The sample used was 9 male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) which were randomly divided into three groups. Blood glucose levels were measured before induction, after induction, after 7 days, and after 14 days of giving the extract. Data analysis was performed in the form of homogeneity test, normality test, paired t-test using Excel and SPSS programs. There was significant decrease in blood glucose levels on day 0 to day 7 in dose II group. The largest percentage reduction in blood glucose levels was shown in dose II group, namely 32.6%, followed by dose I group at 18.89%. The ethanol extract of Benalu kersen leaves did have an effect of lowering blood glucose levels on alloxan-induced male white rats.

Abstract

Daun kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) mempunyai sifat antibakteri dengan cara menghambat aktivitas glukosiltransferase pada bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Pengembangan daun kersen menjadi sediaan pasta gigi dianggap perlu sehingga penggunaannya lebih efesien dan maksimal. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan agar dapat memformulasikan ekstrak kental daun kersen sebagai sediaan pasta gigi yang memiliki sifat fisik yang baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimental. Ekstraksi daun kersen dilakukan dengan teknik maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% lalu dilakukan destilasi vakum sehingga menghasilkan ekstrak yang kental dari daun kersen. Kemudian ekstrak diformulasikan dalam sediaan pasta gigi sebesar 33% yaitu formula I, II dan III dengan variasi viscosity modifier Na CMC 3,0%, 3,5% dan 4,0%. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji sifat fisik selama penyimpanan selama empat minggu meliputi viskositas, pH, homogenitas, tinggi busa, bau, warna dan rasa. Berdasarkan hasil ekstrak yang didapat, diperoleh rendemen sebesar 7,36%. Hasil viskositas formula I berkisar 95055-116762 cp, formula II berkisar 121894-129891 cp dan formula III 128771-137552 cp. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut viskositas formula mengalami peningkatan selama penyimpanan. Pengukuran tinggi busa formula I berkisar 17-20 mm, formula II berkisar 17-18 mm dan formula III berkisar 17-19 mm. Didapatkan tinggi busa formula mengalami penurunan selama penyimpanan. Ditinjau dari uji viskositas, pH, homogenitas, tinggi busa, bau, warna dan rasa ketiga formula menunjukkan hasil memenuhi syarat selama penyimpanan. Dari penelitian ini dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa ekstrak daun kersen yang diformulasikan sebagai sediaan pasta gigi yang paling baik sifat fisiknya yaitu formula II dengan viscosity modifier Na CMC sebesar 3,5%.

Abstract

Kersen parasite leaves (Dendropthoe pentandra (L.) Miq) is a type of parasite that is hemiparasite and contains active compounds, namely, flavonoids, terpenoids and tannins. This compound has benefits as an antihyperglycemic. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of lowering blood glucose levels from the infusion of Kersen parasite leaves (Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq) in white male rats induced by alloxan. This research was a laboratory experimental study with a randomized pre- and posttest one group design. The study used alloxan-induced male rats which were divided into 3 dosage groups (38 mg/kgBW, 77 mg/kgBW, and 154 mg/kgBW). In the results of the mean blood glucose levels of rats, there was a decrease in blood glucose levels on the 0th day of treatment, on the 7th day after the treatment there was an increase in blood glucose levels and on the 14th day after the treatment there was a decrease in blood glucose levels except in the dose II group and III. In this study, Kersen parasite leaf infusion had no effect on reducing blood glucose levels of alloxan-induced male white rats.

Abstract

Hemorrhage occurs in most of the dental care. Untreated hemorrhage could cause excessive blood loss, hypotension, and cyanosis. A Natural resource that reported has an hemostatic effect is ethanol extract of betel leaves (Piper betel, Linn).The aim of this study is to find the minimum concentration of ethanol extract of betel leaves which capable of shortening the bleeding time in mice. The experimental study used pretest-posttest with control group design was conducted on 35 mice that divided into 7 group which are negative control, positive control (feracrylum 1%), the ethanol extract of betel leaves 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. All mice were injected heparin intravenously. Mice’s tail was cut at diameter 3 mm and pretest bleeding time was counted. Mice’s tail was recut at diameter 4 mm, given treatment for 5 seconds and posttest bleeding time was counted. Results of paired t-test showed that reduction of bleeding time between pretest and posttest was significant (p<0,050). The enhancement of ethanol extract of betel leaves concentration leads to better hemostatic effect. Results of ANOVA test showed that comparison of posttest bleeding time among groups was significant (p<0,050). The minimum concentration of ethanol extract of betel leaves which capable of shortening the bleeding time in mice is 5%.

Abstract

Lansium domesticum Corr. is a typical plant of Indonesia. The seeds have a lot of useful compounds, such as flavonoids. Flavonoids are a natural compound that can act as antioxidants. The aim of this study was to determine the antioxidant potential of Lansiumdomesticum Corr. seed extract. This study was an experimental research with posttest control group design. The subjects were 32 white male rats. Rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: negative control group was given suspension of Na CMC 1%, dose group I, II and III were given Lansium domesticum Corr. seed extract with each dose of 100mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, and 300 mg/kg. Observation of the subject's response was done by measuring the levels of glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Analysis ANOVA test showed that there was a group that had an average difference both GSH levels (p=0.00) and MDA levels (p=0.00). Post hoc test analysis for GSH levels and MDA levels showed that only a dose of 100 mg/kg which have significant differences (p=0.00). Thus, Lansiumdomesticum Corr. seed extract has antioxidant potential and optimum dose of 100 mg/kg.

Abstract

Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui efek minyak ikan toman (Channa micropeltes) terhadap profil lipid pada mencit jantan (Mus musculus). Metode: Penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium menggunakan rancangan randomized pre- dan post-test dengan menggunakan hewan coba yaitu 35 ekor mencit jantan (Mus musculus) yang telah diinduksi model hiperkolesterol menggunakan pakan tinggi lemak, kemudian dikelompokkan menjadi 7 kelompok untuk perlakuan, yaitu: kontrol negatif, kontrol positif dengan Simvastatin, kontrol positif dengan Gemfibrozil, minyak ikan dosis I (0,05g/30gBB), minyak ikan dosis II (0,1g/30gBB), minyak ikan dosis III (0,2g/30gBB), dan minyak ikan dosis IV (0,4g/30gBB). Pemeriksaan profil lipid dilakukan dengan mengambil sampel darah mencit dan diperiksa dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer. Hasil: Minyak ikan toman dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol total, Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL), dan trigliserida pada mencit dengan Dosis II, dosis III, dan dosis IV sedangkan untuk kadar High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) dapat turun pada dosis iv. Simpulan: Minyak Ikan toman dapat menurunkan kadar profil lipid pada mencit jantan model dislipidemia.
