Abstract

The initial abilities of students in the Integral Calculus course reveal that many have not yet grasped the fundamental concepts of integration. Out of 20 students given integral problems, only 6 students (30%) were able to answer correctly, while 14 students (70%) made errors. These errors in the Calculus course need to be analyzed further to assist lecturers and students in identifying weaknesses in the learning process and address or at least reduce similar mistakes in the future. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with 20 second-semester students from the Mathematics Education program at IAIN Lhokseumawe as the research subjects. The findings indicate that students with very high and high computational thinking skills did not make errors compared to those with moderate, low, and low computational thinking skills. Students with moderate computational thinking skills tended to make errors in processing and answer writing. In contrast, students with low and very low computational thinking skills more frequently encountered transformation, processing, and answer-writing errors. Transformation errors occur when students make mistakes in calculations or during the process skill stage. These errors are often caused by students’ difficulty structuring solution steps, leading to misunderstanding the problems. Most students were also unable to reformulate the problems into forms suitable for the appropriate solution method, resulting in their inability to proceed with the calculations. Based on the error analysis using Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA) method, the most common types identified were transformation, processing, and answer-writing errors.

Abstract

The ethno-flipped classroom model is a collaborative and student-centered learning model developed by integrating the flipped learning model and the ethnomathematics approach. The implementation of the ethno-flipped classroom model is assisted by Collaborative Cloud Classroom which was developed as a Learning Management System during the implementation of learning. The purpose of this study was to determine student responses to the application of the ethno-flipped classroom model assisted by Collaborative Cloud Classroom for high school students in Gunungsitoli City, Nias Island, North Sumatra Province. This research is descriptive quantitative research with data collection techniques using Likert-scale questionnaires in Small Group and Field Test. The research sample was Gunungsitoli City High School students, namely 25 students in the small group stage and 222 students in the filed test stage. The results showed that 83% of students gave a very good response at the small group stage and 85% of students gave a very good response to the application of the model at the filed test stage. The achievement of the percentage of student responses concluded that the ethno-flipped classroom model assisted by Collaborative Cloud Classroom can be further implemented in the application of other cultural contexts in future research

Abstract

The research aims to determine the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who are taught using the Problem-Based Learning model or direct learning model. As well as to see an overview of the process of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in terms of the students' answer process. The population in this study was all students at SMP Negeri 2 Pantai Labu for the 2022/2023 academic year, totaling 210 students and the sample for this research was 61 students from class VIII-1 and class VIII-3. This type of research is experimental research. The data used is a PAM test with 15 questions and a mathematical problem-solving ability test in the form of a description with 3 questions. After the prerequisite tests are carried out, the data is declared Normal and Homogeneous, then the data can be carried out further tests. The results of data analysis of mathematical problem-solving abilities in the Problem-Based Learning learning model were an average of 63.439 with a standard deviation of 8.0608 and in the direct learning model the average was 45.727 with a standard deviation of 6.1296. To test the hypothesis, it was concluded that the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students taught using the Problem-Based Learning learning model were better than students taught using the direct learning model.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate: (1) how students' mathematical dispositions differ depending on whether they were taught using a Problem-Based Learning model or an Ordinary Learning model; (2) how the mathematical dispositions of students are affected by the relationship between the learning style and Previous Students' Ability. This study is a quantitative investigation employing procedures that are semi experimental. The instruments of this research are problem solving ability tests and student disposition questionnaires. The participants in this research project are all 222 students enrolled in class VIII at SMP Negeri 5 Stabat during the academic year 2022/2023. There are a total of 222 individuals. The method of sampling utilized for this investigation was a straightforward random sampling method, and the total number of students comprising the sample was calculated using the Issac and Michael formula. Essay examinations and questionnaires were the research tools that were utilized in this investigation. A Two Way ANOVA was utilized in the analysis of the results. The findings of the research indicate the following: (1) the mathematical disposition of students in the class that uses problem-based learning is higher than that of students in the class that uses ordinary learning; (2) there is no interaction between the learning model and early mathematical abilities (high, medium, and low) on students' mathematical dispositions. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Quasi Experiment, Mathematical Dispositions
