Abstract

Cordia myxa L. is empirically used as an antidiabetic medication. The aim of this study is to determine the in-vivo effect of Cordia myxa L. n-hexane fraction on reducing blood sugar levels and their relationship with the anti-free-radical activity assay using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl). The n-hexane fraction of Cordia myxa L. was used as a sample in the post-prandial assay which was analyzed using the ANOVA statistical test followed by Post-Hoc test. The results showed that there were significant in the extract using a 500 mg dose. In the anti-free-radical test using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazyl) at maximum wavelength of 516 nm, 16.49 µg /mL IC50 value was obtained. For comparison, Quercetin with IC50 0.13 µg/mL was used. This shows that the sample has strong anti-free radical inhibitory potential ranged from 10 µg/mL to 50 µg/mL. The data from the calculation showed that there is a correlation between its effect of lowering high blood sugar level and anti-free radical activity

Abstract

Socioeconomic status and family food habits are one of the factors for stunting. The purpose of this community service activity is a form of stunting prevention in the community by conducting socialization and workshop activities. In the framework of nutritional and health assistance with the theme isi piringku, it is hoped that the incidence of stunting can be reduced. With this activity, it is also hoped that people can sort and choose healthy and nutritious food that can be obtained easily, cheaply and affordably. The targets of this activity include PKK cadres, posyandu cadres and mothers with toddlers who are stunted in Telemow Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency. Socialization activities and workshops ran smoothly and without any problems. All residents followed the training process carefully and with great enthusiasm, as evidenced by the full attention of the residents until the end of the activity. Through representatives of community leaders, this activity is considered very useful as a golden opportunity to learn and in the future it is hoped that it can reduce the number of stunting that occurs in Telemow Village.

Abstract

Cavendish banana (Musa paradisiaca var. Sapientum) is a type of banana that is widespread in various tropical countries and is used by the community as a food source. Bananas have the ability to increase the body's ability to absorb nutrients and can help maintain the lining of cells in the intestine. This is because the content contained in bananas is short chain fatty acid compounds. According to research banana peel is rich in flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of total flavonoids in ethanol extract peel Cavendish Banana (Musa paradisiaca var. Sapientum). Qualitative analysis performed by the method thin layer chromatography (TLC) which is characterized by the appearance of fluoresences yellow stains in UV 366 with using AlCl3 & Sitroborat. Determination of total flavonoid content by UV-Vis spectrophotometry method using regular standard measured at a wavelength of 410 nm. The results showed that the levels of flavonoids in Cavendish banana peel that is 1,643%. Sapientum) adalah salah satu jenis pisang yang tersebar luas di berbagai Negara tropis dan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai sumber pangan. Pisang memiliki kapabilitas dalam meningkatkan kemampuan tubuh dalam menyerap nutrisi dan mampu membantu memelihara lapisan sel yang berada di usus. Hal tersebut karena kandungan yang terdapat di dalam buah pisang yaitu senyawa asam lemak rantai pendek. Kulit Pisang cavendish kaya akan senyawa flavonoid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan kadar flavonoid total pada ekstrak etanol kulit Pisang cavendish (Musa paradisiaca var. Sapientum). Analisis kualitatif dilakukan dengan metode kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT) yang ditandai dengan adanya penampakan noda dengan fluoresensi kuning pada UV 366 menggunakan AlCl3 & noda fluoresensi kuning kehijauan pada UV 366 menggunakan Sitroborat. Penetapan kadar flavonoid totalnya dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis menggunakan standar rutin yang diukur pada panjang gelombang 410 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kadar flavonoid pada kulit Pisang cavendish yaitu 1,643%. Kata Kunci: Pisang cavendish, ekstrak etanol, flavonoid

Abstract

Free radicals are known as an atom that does not have an electron pair and is unstable and only has one electron. Free radicals will act quickly to find their electron pairs. Jasmine leaves are rich in polyphenol antioxidants. Apart from jasmine, one type of plant that is suspected of being an antioxidant is moringa (Moringa oleifera, Lamk). Moringa plant has been known for centuries as a multipurpose plant full of nutrients and medicinal properties. Moringa leaves contain primary metabolites such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, various minerals, vitamins and amino acids. Rosella flowers contain many secondary metabolites, including polyphenols and falvonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the highest antioxidant activity in tea from several tea brands (moringa leaf tea, rosella flower tea and jasmine leaf tea) using the DPPH method with tea brewing standards in accordance with those regulated in SNI 01-1902-1995 with levels constant temperature. Quantitative test results showed that the IC50 value of Rosella flower tea was 148 ppm (moderate antioxidant), the IC50 value of jasmine tea was 80 ppm (strong antioxidant) and the IC50 value of Moringa leaf tea was 88 ppm (strong antioxidant). Keywords: Antioxidant, Rosella flower, Moringa leaves, jasmine, Tea Abstrak Radikal bebas dikenal sebagai suatu atom yang tidak memiliki pasangan elektron dan tidak stabil serta hanya memiliki satu elektron. Radikal bebas akan cepat beraksi untuk mencari pasangan elektronnya. Daun melati kaya akan antioksidan polifenol. Selain tanaman melati, salah satu jenis tumbuhan yang diduga sebagai antioksidan adalah kelor (Moringa oleifera, Lamk). Tanaman kelor telah dikenal selama berabad-abad sebagai tanaman multiguna padat nutrisi dan berkhasiat obat. Daun kelor mengandung metabolit primer seperti protein, lemak, karbohidrat, berbagai mineral, vitamin dan asam amino. Bunga Rosella banyak mengadung senyawa metabolit sekunder antara lain polifenol dan falvonoid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi pada teh dari beberapa merk dagang teh (teh daun kelor, teh bunga rosella dan teh daun melati) menggunakan metode DPPH dengan standar penyeduhan teh sesuai dengan yang diatur dalam SNI 01-1902-1995 dengan tingkatan suhu yang konstan. Hasil uji kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa nilai IC50 teh bunga Rosella 148 ppm (antioksidan sedang), nilai IC50 teh melati 80 ppm (antioksidan kuat) dan nilai IC50 teh daun kelor 88 ppm (antioksidan kuat).
