Abstract

Tanaman renggak (Amomum dealbatum Roxb) merupakan tanaman lokal pulau Lombok yang masih belum banyak dimanfaatkan. Tanaman ini dilaporkan mengandung senyawa flavonoid, alkaloid, tannin dan terpenoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat gel dari ekstrak kulit buah renggak dan uji aktivitas terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Gel ekstrak kulit buah renggak dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi 2% dan 4%, uji aktivitas bakteri menggunakan metode difusi agar dengan cara sumuran. Hasil penelitian menunjukan gel ekstrak kulit buah renggak dengan konsentrasi 2% memiliki pH 6, daya lekat 1,64, daya sebar 4,43 serta daya hambat bakteri 2,34 mm. Untuk konsentrasi 4% memiliki pH 6, daya lekat 1,57, daya sebar 4,36 serta daya hambat bakteri 3,20 mm. Gel ektrak kulit buah renggak memiliki zona hambat bakteri dengan kategori lemah, pH dan daya lekat sesuai parameter sediaan gel, sedangkan daya sebar tidak memenuhi persyaratan. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak semakin tinggi zona hambat yang dihasilkan.

Abstract

Endofit merupakan sumber kimia bahan alam yang potensial sebagai agen senyawa bioaktif. Keberagaman struktur kimia yang dihasilkan dari jamur endofit terbentuk berdasarkan lingkungan, media jamur endofit dan inang jamur endofit tersebut diisolasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak jamur endofit sebagai agen antibakteri yang berasosiasi dengan tanaman Kerinyu (Cromolaena odorata L.), agar dapat dijadikan sebagai acuan untuk melakukan penelitian lanjutan. Sampel tanaman diambil di sekitar bangker Kaliadem Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksplorasi dan eksperimen laboratorium dengan sampling acak terhadap isolat strain jamur murni yang dikultur pada media agar Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) dan Potato Dextrose Agar Cyclosporin A (PDA-CS). Diperoleh 10 strain jamur endofit murni dengan media isolasi jamur endofit PDA dan PDA-CS. Hasil isolasi jamur endofit selanjutnya difermentasi dengan beras cokelat selama 1 bulan kemudian dimaserasi dengan metanol p.a selama 3 hari dan ekstrak metanol diuji aktivitas anti mikroba dan anti jamurnya dengan metode difusi agar. Dari 10 isolat jamur endofit, terdapat 4 strain jamur yang aktif sebagai anti bakteri dan anti jamur dengan kode NP-MB-COK-10-2, NP-MB-COK-10-1, PDA-MB-COK-6-4 dan NP-MB-COK-2.

Abstract

Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) is an alternative in achieving GERMAS (Healthy Living Community Movement) as an effort to achieve traditional independent health. The success of the use of TOGA is strongly influenced by the level of public knowledge about the benefits of the type of medicinal plants which has been empirically investigated. The data obtained is qualitative data with descriptive approach analysis method. Data collection was carried out by conducting observations, interviews and technical training to the community in an effort to provide knowledge about TOGA and the creation of a TOGA demonstration plot. The results obtained from this activity are the emergence of public awareness of the use of home yard land for the manufacture of living pharmacies as an effort to achieve independent health and the emergence of public interest in the use of TOGA as a UMKM product in the form of packaged drink sachets as a pilot. The importance of public knowledge about TOGA is needed in supporting the success of achieving independent health and efforts to utilize local biological resources in initiating the manufacture of herbal plant-based UMKM products.

Abstract

Endophytic fungi are potential microorganisms in lead compounds investigation as research objects for antibacterial and antifungal drug candidates. These microorganisms are able to produce various secondary metabolites, moreover they can even be regulated according to the needs of researchers. This is an advantage of endophytic fungi with good adaptability response. This study aims to explore the antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activity of endophytic fungi from the branch of the Melinjo tree (Gnetum gnemon L.) by qualitative analysis. This study resulted in 13 potential endophytic fungi extracts to be explored further for their compounds. Based on the results of the TLC test of the fungal extracts with 10% vanillin in H2SO4 as a reagent, it showed that the dominant compounds were alkaloids and polyphenols. The antibacterial activity test of extracts of the endophytic fungi was carried out by the disc diffusion agar method against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, while antifungal agents were used for Candida albicans and Aspergillus clavatus.. Meanwhile, the qualitative test of antioxidants from fungal extracts using the DPPH spray reagent showed positive results of 8 fungal extracts. Screening of endophytic fungi from melinjo represented a source of endophytes potential as antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant to be developed in exploration of secondary metabolites from natural products of microbial.

Abstract

Renggak (Amomum dealbatum Roxb) merupakan tanaman merumpun yang masih jarang dieksplorasi serta masih jarang digali aktivitasnya. Tanaman yang masih tergolong sebagai famili zingiberaceae ini memungkinkan dapat digali sebagai antioksidan dan antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi aktivitas antibakteri dan antioksidan dari ekstrak kulit renggak serta analisis fitokimia dari tanaman tersebut. Ekstraki dilakukan menggunakan pelarut metanol sementara aktivitas antioksidan dianalisis dengan metode DPPH secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap ekstraknya dilakukan terhadap Staphylococus epidermidis dengan metode sumuran difusi agar dengan media Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA). Hasil analisis antibakteri didapatkan zona hambat terbaik dengan konsentrasi 50% sebesar 17,65 mm sebagai konsentrasi terbaik. Sedangkan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak kulit renggak menunjukkan nilai IC50 sebesar 244,904 µg/ml. . Hasil analisis fitokimia dari ekstrak kulit renggak mengandung, alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin dan tannin. Renggak masih perlu dieksplorasi lebih dalam lagi termasuk isolasi senyawa yang berperan sebagai antibakteri dan antioksidan. Kata kunci: amomum dealbatum roxb, antibakteri, antioksidan, ekstrak kulit renggak. ABSTRACT Renggak (Amomum dealbatum Roxb) is a clumping plant rarely explored in their activities. This plant, classified as the Zingiberaceae family, allows it to be explored as an antioxidant and antibacterial. The purpose of this research was to explore the antibacterial and antioxidant activity of the peel extract of renggak as well as the phytochemical analysis of the extract. Extraction was carried out using methanol as the solvent while antioxidant activity was analyzed by qualitative and quantitative DPPH methods. The antibacterial activity test of the extract was investigated on Staphylococcus epidermidis using the agar diffusion well method with Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA) media. The results of the antibacterial analysis obtained 17.65 mm of the inhibition zone with an optimum concentration of 50%. While the antioxidant activity of the peel extract of renggak showed an IC50 value of 244.904 µg/ml. The results of the phytochemical analysis contained alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. Renggak still needs to be explored further, including the isolation of compounds that act as antibacterial and antioxidants. Abstract

Endophytes are microorganisms that colonize the plant host tissue. Endophytic colonies are able to produce secondary metabolites in accordance with their host plants, endophytes have been found in every plant species studied to date and are recognized as a source of new natural compounds that have the potential to be exploited in medicine. This study aims to isolate and obtain endophytic fungi and to test secondary metabolites that have the potential as antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Plant samples were taken around the village of Mamben, Wanasaba. The research method used is experimental laboratory. This research was conducted by isolating and identifying endophytic fungi from nettle stems. Obtained a type of endophytic fungal strain using Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) media. The production of secondary metabolites of endophytic fungi was obtained by fermentation method using brown rice for a month then macerated for 3 days using methanol solvent and tested for secondary metabolites and antibacterial activity. The endophytic fungal extract of nettle stem contains alkaloids and flavonoids and is able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with the highest concentration of 60% with an inhibition zone of 18 mm. whereas, the extract of nettle stem endophytic fungus on Escherichia coli has not an inhibition zone.

Abstract

Cosmetics are needed by the public, such as hand and body lotions and face brightening creams, and there are many misuses of hazardous chemicals in cosmetics, including lotions and face brightening creams. Sodium hypochlorite, a  hazardous chemical, can cause skin damage, such as irritation, rash, hypersensitivity, and burns. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of sodium hypochlorite compounds and sodium hypochlorite in hand and body lotion cosmetics and face brightening cream. The method used in this research was qualitative analysis with color reaction and quantitative analysis with iodometric titration. The results qualitatively showed that color changes occurred in all samples. NaOCl concentration in hand and body lotion at 0.2% concentration showed an average NaOCl concentration of 3.263 % ± 0.25 and face brightening cream concentration at an average concentration of 10 mg showed NaOCl levels of 88.933 % ± 7.57. Based on this, it was concluded that in the samples of hand and body lotion and face brightening cream, sodium hypochlorite compounds with different levels. Therefore, these samples could have side effects and toxicity in their usefulness as cosmetics. Keywords: Hand & body lotion, face brightening cream, sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), iodometric titration

Abstract

Pharmacists is one among others profession whom responsible to manage and to prevent antimicrobial resistance. To perform those function, giving information and educating public are essential to be done. This community service was aimed to provide and to increase knowledge and awareness of antimicrobial usage in public by educational program. Thus, the incidence of antimicrobial resistance could decline. The program was run by classical method and discussion session. There were 30 participants from various village in Keruak district. As speaker, pharmacists delivered some learning materials to participants followed by discussion. On discussion session participant asked some questions about antimicrobial usage. According to questions asked, it showed that participants taking part in this program have not comprehend about how to get, how to use, how to keep and storage and how to dispose antimicrobial yet in a frame to prevent resistance. It is concluded that by taking this educational community service program given by pharmacists, participants in Keruak district could gain information to improve their knowledge about antimicrobial usage in order to prevent and decline antimicrobial resistance.

Abstract

Free radicals are known as an atom that does not have an electron pair and is unstable and only has one electron. Free radicals will act quickly to find their electron pairs. Jasmine leaves are rich in polyphenol antioxidants. Apart from jasmine, one type of plant that is suspected of being an antioxidant is moringa (Moringa oleifera, Lamk). Moringa plant has been known for centuries as a multipurpose plant full of nutrients and medicinal properties. Moringa leaves contain primary metabolites such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, various minerals, vitamins and amino acids. Rosella flowers contain many secondary metabolites, including polyphenols and falvonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the highest antioxidant activity in tea from several tea brands (moringa leaf tea, rosella flower tea and jasmine leaf tea) using the DPPH method with tea brewing standards in accordance with those regulated in SNI 01-1902-1995 with levels constant temperature. Quantitative test results showed that the IC50 value of Rosella flower tea was 148 ppm (moderate antioxidant), the IC50 value of jasmine tea was 80 ppm (strong antioxidant) and the IC50 value of Moringa leaf tea was 88 ppm (strong antioxidant). Radikal bebas akan cepat beraksi untuk mencari pasangan elektronnya. Daun melati kaya akan antioksidan polifenol. Selain tanaman melati, salah satu jenis tumbuhan yang diduga sebagai antioksidan adalah kelor (Moringa oleifera, Lamk). Tanaman kelor telah dikenal selama berabad-abad sebagai tanaman multiguna padat nutrisi dan berkhasiat obat. Daun kelor mengandung metabolit primer seperti protein, lemak, karbohidrat, berbagai mineral, vitamin dan asam amino. Bunga Rosella banyak mengadung senyawa metabolit sekunder antara lain polifenol dan falvonoid. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi pada teh dari beberapa merk dagang teh (teh daun kelor, teh bunga rosella dan teh daun melati) menggunakan metode DPPH dengan standar penyeduhan teh sesuai dengan yang diatur dalam SNI 01-1902-1995 dengan tingkatan suhu yang konstan. Hasil uji kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa nilai IC50 teh bunga Rosella 148 ppm (antioksidan sedang), nilai IC50 teh melati 80 ppm (antioksidan kuat) dan nilai IC50 teh daun kelor 88 ppm (antioksidan kuat).
