Abstract

Abstract

Background: Sexual and reproductive health is critical to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Various factors contribute to premarital sexual behaviour among adolescents, with culture being a pervasive influence in many countries. Adolescents in mountain communities are particularly vulnerable to engaging in premarital sexual behaviour. Aims: This review aims to explore research findings related to the cultural factors influencing premarital sexual behaviour among adolescents in general and specifically in mountain communities, contributing to the achievement of the SDGs. Method: This study employs a scoping review methodology. Search terms used in the articles include MeSH terms ["Adolescent" or "Teen"], ["Cultural impact" or "Cultural Role"], ["Premarital sex" or "Premarital sexual intercourses"], and ["Highland Communities" or "Mountain Communities"]. Databases utilised for article search include Science Direct, Proquest, and PubMed. Five journals published between 2019 and 2023 that meet the inclusion criteria were selected. Results: This review synthesises findings from 5 articles, narrowed down from an initial pool of 10,923 articles. All selected papers employ quantitative methods and originate from Ethiopia (3 articles), Nepal, and Tanzania. Conclusion: The review highlights the social, economic, and environmental influences on mountain communities, emphasising the cultural roles of alcohol consumption, social norms (customs), and family culture in shaping premarital sexual behaviour among adolescents. Education on the consequences of adolescent sexual behaviour is crucial, especially in cultures that tolerate such behaviours.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. One of the efforts to increase coverage of active TB findings is TB screening by TB cadres. This study aims to study TB case finding with the role of ASMARA TB cadres (TB Independent Screening Application). This research is qualitative. The informants are ASMARA TB cadres at UPT Puskesmas Karawaci Baru. Data was collected through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD). of 32 cadres. The results of the study obtained 4 themes, namely Theme 1: Correct understanding of cadres about the meaning, signs, symptoms, and transmission of TB, Theme 2: Cadre's knowledge of TB Contact Investigation, Theme 3: Barriers to TB Contact Investigation, Theme 4: Obstacles Individual, Environmental and Socio-Cultural. The results showed that the Asmara TB cadres had good knowledge about TB, but it was necessary to increase knowledge continuously. Cross-sectoral cooperation is still minimal, there is a lack of public knowledge about pulmonary TB, the distance to health facilities is quite far, local cultural values and education levels are low, the role of trained cadres is not optimal, and religious leaders and the community are less involved. Continuous health education efforts are needed with cadres and community leaders to increase awareness of early detection of TB.

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease 19/COVID-19 has an impact on utility services. Utility services such as clean water, electricity supply, security, and cleanliness are included in the scope, especially in the town management. This qualitative research with a case study design aims to get an overview of employee perceptions regarding the prevention of COVID-19 transmission. The study was conducted at Kelapa Dua Sub-district, Bencongan Indah Village, Tangerang on 5/five informants who worked in the Town Management. Data were collected through interviews with the implementation of health protocols and analyzed using a problem-solving approach with Fishbone Analysis. The results showed that until June 2022 83 employees were exposed to COVID-19. This is due to several factors, such as human resources, machines, methods, budgets, materials, and the environment, such as the number of operational working hours serving residents/residences for 24 hours, there is no task force team/Satgas COVID-19, there are no tools to check the conditions exposed to workers, there is no SOP/Standard Operating Procedure to implement health protocols, the price of Swab/PCR and mask examinations are expensive, there are no vaccines at the beginning of the pandemic, and health protocols implementation at homes and in public inconsistent. Need more efforts to increase positive perceptions such as the creation of a special team for the COVID-19 Task Force and efforts to increase employee awareness to implement health protocols consistently.

Abstract

One of the efforts to reduce the maternal mortality rate (MMR) is to adopt the EMAS (Expanding Maternal And Neonatal Survival) program SIJARIEMAS (Information System for Maternal and Neonatal Referrals in the prevention of '3 Too Late. This study aims to obtain an overview of the implementation of SIJARIEMAS in terms of sources. Human resources, the availability of facilities and infrastructure, as well as procedures at the Tanah Tinggi Public Health Center. The research was carried out using the Rapid Assessment Procedure (RAP), a technique of collecting data using a quick assessment to obtain in-depth and relatively brief information. These are Doctors on Watch, Midwives, and Nurses. The data were collected with 3 focus group discussions. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that officers still found it difficult to refer patients to the hospital due to the long response of the SIJARIEMAS Call Center in finding a hospital. There are still officers who do not follow the referral soup. Obstacles faced by officers in making emergency referrals resulted in delays in handling that could lead to death. Conclusion: SIJARIEMAS makes referrals easier, but the response of the old SIJARIEMAS call center, Puskesmas officers, still deviates from the SIJARIEMAS procedure. Efforts are needed to improve call center response and services by Puskesmas officers.

Medical waste is an infectious and hazardous material that health services, including hospitals, produce. Health workers risk spreading disease due tomproper medical waste management. The study aims to provide an overview of health workers sorting medical waste. This research is qualitative research with a case study design. Ten Informants, health workers, midwives, nurses, and general practitioners were participants in this study. Interviews and data collection data were analyzed by content analysis. The interviews with health workers related to the period of work and the period of service give positive or negative influences such as having more experience in their duties or causing feeling bored. The result of the Interviews related to health workers' knowledge good. Almost every day, Infection Prevention Control (PPI) officers observe medical waste sorting and still find health workers who have not implemented medical waste sorting properly. The health workers had a positive attitude towards the sorting of medical waste. Still, because the workload was quite heavy, sometimes they did not pay attention to sorting medical waste, and co-workers did not remind each other. Hospitals should hold continuous socialization by training or workshops as a joint commitment to properly improve medical waste management. Rewards for those who performed medical waste management properly increase motivation for health workers in units, besides sanctions to increase discipline in sorting medical waste.
