Abstract

Rubber fruit shells are found as agricultural waste. Many farmers have not used rubber fruit shells. Therefore, the researchers made alternative fuels from rubber fruit shells containing 60-80% cellulose and 5-20% lignin. The research objective was to analyze the calorific value and burning rate of rubber fruit shell charcoal. The combustion rate test is carried out by burning charcoal and measuring how long it takes to turn into ash, and the mass of the burned ash. The heating value is done by making a simple furnace from a can filled with charcoal with a mass of 5g, 10g, 15g, 20g, 25g and 30g. 200ml of water is placed on the stove until it boils, measure the time and temperature when it boils. The result of the longest burning rate is 2.12g / minute. The heating value that results in high temperatures and large coals is 332.4 kJ. The conclusion of this study is that rubber fruit shells which have a large mass are very good to be used as an alternative fuel with a very high combustion rate and calorific value.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pattern of problem formulation skills and hypothesize students of class XI MIPA at SMAN 2 Grabag and SMA Islam Sudirman Pakis. The research design is qualitative research. The technique used in the data collection was an interview technique with 20 students and two physics teachers, as well as documentation during the research. Before the interview, the students observed 3 physical phenomena, namely (1) phenomenon 1 regarding the effect of oxygen on the flame of a candle, (2) phenomenon 2 regarding water surface pressure on razor blades and needles, (3) phenomenon 3 regarding eggs that put in various solutions with different density. The data analysis technique was qualitative analysis. Based on the research, all students were able to formulate problems according to the video of the observed phenomena, and based on the problem formulation proposed by the students found that there are three patterns of problem formulation in phenomenon 1, two patterns of problem formulation in phenomenon 2, and three patterns of problem formulation in phenomenon 3, with all problem formulation patterns proposed by students being problem formulations that correspond to each previously observed phenomenon. This shows that all students have good problem formulation skills, it can be seen that students can identify problems in each video phenomenon and ask them in the form of questions. The results showed 2 question words, those are "why" as much as 77% and the question word "what" as much as 23%. Students who formulate problems using the question word "why" can be categorized at the formal operational stage and students who formulate problems using the question word "what" can be categorized at the concrete operational stage. This difference in students' cognitive development can be a guide for teachers to use a student-focused learning model.

Abstract

An analysis of the quality of the lighting level in the classroom needs to be carried out to determine the existing lighting level. If the level of lighting is below the specified standard, it can cause eye damage.  Meanwhile, if the level of lighting is above the standard, the classroom will be too bright. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of lighting in the Regular and Full Day classroom of  MTs. Miftahul Huda Tayu. The tools and materials used in this experiment are lux meter, roller meter and thermohygro. The experiment was carried out in the Regular class school building and the Full Day classroom building with a sample of three rooms per building with each room representing each floor. The experiment was carried out during the day for three consecutive days. There are two types of the intensity measured in this experiment, namely natural intensity (lights off) and natural artificial intensity (lights on). In each room, 9 points were taken. The floor area and window area were measured using a roller meter. From the experiments that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the lighting in the Regular class (17-73 lux) and Full Day class (97-181 lux) buildings do not meet Indonesian National standards (Standar Nasional Indonesia, SNI).
