Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease with high morbidity and mortality. Lifestyle and knowledge are crucial factors in the handling and prevention of DM, but public awareness to obtain information is still low. This activity was carried out to increase public awareness in obtaining information and providing education related to DM. Preparation for the activity was carried out from 21 November 2022 and the core activities were in the form of outreach and health checks as a DM screening and were carried out on 24 November 2022. The main target for this activity were residents who had a family history of suffering from DM and risk factors such as obesity and hypertension. From this activity it was found that 90% had high blood pressure and 2 of them had fasting blood sugar levels above 300 mg/dL. In addition, it is known that public awareness to obtain information is still lacking.

Abstract

Black cincau is a food that is consumed by many people. Black cincau is used as a mixture of drinks and facilitates the digestive system. Black cincau is widely traded in traditional markets, but the processing and presentation of blackcincau often ignores cleanliness or is unhygienic. Some are sold without special packaging and placed in open containers. Such conditions allow black cincau to be contaminated by dust and bacteria. Bacteria that often contaminate food are Coliform bacteria such as Escherichia coli. Some of the diseases caused by E. coli include; diarrhea, urinary tract infection, sepsis, and meningitis. The aim of this study was to describe the E. coli bacteria contaminating black cincau in the Malang city market. This type of research uses a descriptive method, namely identifying Escherichia coli bacteria by means of the MPN test. The results showed that there were two out of a total of five positive samples containing E.coli bacteria. The presence of E.coli bacteria in positive samples was indicated by the presence of metallic green colonies on EMBA media

Abstract

Quail egg yolk contains high cholesterol which can trigger dyslipidemia. If Cholesterol is consumed in excess, will increase lipid profile, which can increase LDL cholesterol levels. Bay leaf extract contains several active compounds, like quercetin, a class of flavonoids with antioxidants that can prevent LDL oxidation. The aim of this study is to ensure the effectiveness of bay leaf extract on LDL cholesterol levels in white rats induced by quail egg yolk. The animal tested in this study were male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) with the Sprague Dawley strain. Samples were randomly selected and divided into five groups: three groups given quail egg yolk and bay leaf extract in various doses of 0.18 g/day, 0.36 g/day and 0.72 g/day, positive control given quail egg yolk, and negative control without treatment. The ANOVA test showed that there were significant results between the treatment groups, positive control and negative control (p<0.05). Next, the BNJ test showed that giving bay leaf extract (0.18 g/day, 0.36 g/day) had a significant effect on LDL cholesterol levels (p<0.05), while a dose of 0.72 g/day showed that not significant (p>0.05), so we can conclude that the dose of 0.72 g/day was the most effective in preventing an increase in LDL cholesterol levels.

Abstract

Moringa leaves are part of the moringa plants that contain nutrients. The chemical compounds contain in moringa leaves are very much, one of them is beta carotene. Beta carotene is a very potential source of vitamin A and has the highest vitamin A activity of all carotenoids. The purpose of this study was to determine beta carotene content in fresh and dry moringa leaves using UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The population was the moringa leaves, sample was fresh and dry Moringa leaves. Method and analysis of this research was conducted by descriptive method. The results were 19,82?g/g beta carotene of fresh leaves, whereas in dry leaves was 187,45?g/g at 461,1nm wavelength by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. These were caused by various factors, such as; environment, temperature, and humidity. Drying process for dry leaves also affect the beta carotene content of the samples. The conclusion was beta carotene content of dry leaves higher (187.45 ?g/g) than fresh leaves (19.82 ?g/g). Suggestion of this research, it is necessary to measure Moringa oleifera leaves before drying process into oven, make the same sample with different method, or do research with different sample but using the same method

Abstract

Coronavirus disease 2019 or better known as COVID-19 is an acute respiratory disease caused by Savere Acute Respiratory Syndrome-2 (SARS CoV-2). The purpose of this study was to determine the role and relationship of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with COVID-19. The research method is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using electronic articles in English and Indonesian, the year the article was published starting from 2019 with a secondary research design with supporting data with the theme of the study taken, namely with the keywords: COVID-19, interleukin-6, cytokine storm in COVID-19 sufferers. In searching articles with the help of several databases. On average, the results of the 8 research articles used in this literature review show that there is a relationship and role for interleukin-6 (IL-6) in people with COVID-19. In conclusion, IL-6 has a role and relationship to sufferers of COVID-19

Abstract

Salah satu pemeriksaan hematologi yang digunakan sebagai penegak diagnosis, skrining DBD, anemia, dan polisitemia adalah pemeriksaan hematokrit. Antikoagulan yang biasa digunakan adalah EDTA. Bawang putih adalah salah satu tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai antikoagulan alternatif, karena mengandung senyawa ajoene yang berkontribusi dalam aksi antikoagulan, mengingat daerah terpencil susah untuk mendapatkan antikoagulan. Perbandingan volume antikoagulan alternatif bawang putih dengan darah harus tepat karena mempengaruhi nilai hematokrit. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan apakah ada perbedaan dalam hasil hematokrit metode mikro dengan antikoagulan bawang putih volume 35 μL, 40 μL, dan 45 μL. Desain penelitian adalah eksperimen dengan uji statistik menggunakan uji One Way Anova. Hasil penelitian menunjukan rerata nilai hematokrit pada antikoagulan alternatif bawang putih dengan volume 35 µL sebesar 41,67%, 40µL sebesar 40,78%, 45 µL sebesar 38,67% sedangkan rerata nilai hematokrit dengan antikoagulan EDTA sebesar 41,67%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan volume antikoagulan alternatif bawang putih volume 35µL, 40µL dan 45µL terhadap hasil pemeriksaan hematokrit yang ditunjukan dari nilai p > 0,05 yaitu 0,125

Abstract

Saat ini perkembangan Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) didukung dengan perkembangan teknologi. Adanya revolusi industry 4.0 memberikan dampak positif terhadap perkembangan dunia usaha. Banyaknya Platform yang digunakan dalam pengembangan usaha yang berdasarkan pada keinginan wirausaha untuk mengembangkan bisnisnya secara lebih luas sangat diminati oleh para UMKM, sehingga tim pengabdian mencoba menjadi perantara bagi UMKM tersebut. Sosialisasi penggunaan laporan keuangan pad industry rumah tangga memberikan manfaat pada pelaku UMKM di Desa Kediri Selatan Lombok barat. Tujuannya adalah untuk memperluas dan mengembangkan usaha yang dijalani agar berkembang menjadi lebih besar hingga ke ranah Global. Dengan adanya sosialisasi penggunaan laporan keuangan maka pelaku UMKM bisa lebih memfokuskan kegiatan penggunaan laporan keuangan yang dapat membantu mengolah dana sebaik mungkin. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan memberikan materi mengenai penggunaan laporan keuangan khususnya bagi mitra pengabdian. Alur yang dibuat oleh UMKM yaitu dimulai dari proses pembuatan akun pemesanan, proses penjualan, proses stok barang dan menerima hasil penjualan, sehingga dapat membatu memonitoring usaha dan juga tentunya dapat meningkatkan hasil penjualan bagi pelaku usaha.

Abstract

Bulk cooking oil is cooking oil produced by the people's industry without packaging, with low quality because it has not used additives to resist oxidation reactions. Along with this, the public's need for bulk cooking oil continues to increase. Bulk cooking oil circulating in the market if stored for a long time can cause a decrease in quality. Thus, antioxidants made from natural ingredients need to be developed. The content of natural materials that can be used as antioxidants in bulk cooking oil is corn cobs. corn cobs contain phenolics, tannins and flavonoids. The study aims to see the ability of corn cob extract as an antioxidant and provide an overview of the quality of bulk cooking oil based on SNI 3741:2013 after the addition of antioxidants. This study used laboratory experimental method, namely the preparation of corn cob extract which was then used as the basic ingredient and formulation of bulk cooking oil with different antioxidant concentrations. The weight of extract added to bulk cooking oil is 2 grams with soaking time of 20, 40, 60 minutes.  The samples were then measured for acid number, iodine, and peroxide. The best results in this study were obtained in the addition of 2 grams of extract and 60 minutes of soaking time showing an improvement in the quality of bulk cooking oil characterized by a decrease in peroxide number and acid number.
