Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease with high morbidity and mortality. Lifestyle and knowledge are crucial factors in the handling and prevention of DM, but public awareness to obtain information is still low. This activity was carried out to increase public awareness in obtaining information and providing education related to DM. Preparation for the activity was carried out from 21 November 2022 and the core activities were in the form of outreach and health checks as a DM screening and were carried out on 24 November 2022. The main target for this activity were residents who had a family history of suffering from DM and risk factors such as obesity and hypertension. From this activity it was found that 90% had high blood pressure and 2 of them had fasting blood sugar levels above 300 mg/dL. In addition, it is known that public awareness to obtain information is still lacking.

Abstract

Determination of honey quality standards in principle aims to protect consumers from honey products that do not meet the requirements and protect good honey products from counterfeiting. The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in quality in terms of organoleptic properties, water content, and reducing sugar content in pure honey and mixed honey. This research uses a true experimental design conducted at the Chemistry Laboratory of the Health Polytechnic of Mataram, while the sampling was carried out in Lantung, Sumbawa Besar, Indonesia. The research was conducted from January to May 2022. Samples were taken purposively based on the characteristics of each honey. Data analysis used independent T-Test with 95% confidence level (p = 0.05). Based on the results of organoleptic tests that there are differences between the color, taste, and viscosity of pure honey and mixed honey. Furthermore, the water content in pure honey with an average of 19.01% and 20.83% in mixed honey, this indicates that when mixing honey uses a lot of water as a mixture. Based on the results of the Independent Sample T-Test, it was seen that there was a difference between the water content and reduced sugar content in both pure honey and mixed honey with a P-value = 0.00 < 0.05, meaning that there was a significant difference. Thus, the organoleptic quality of pure honey, water content, and reduced sugar is much better and has met the standard for honey that is suitable for consumption compared to mixed honey.

Abstract

Penyakit virus corona 2019 (corona virus disease/COVID-19) sebuah nama baru yang diberikan oleh Wolrd Health Organization (WHO) bagi pasien dengan infeksi virus novel corona 2019 yang pertama kali dilaporkan dari kota Wuhan, Cina pada akhir 2019. Pada masa pandemi Covid-19, menjaga kerbersihan dan kesehatan adalah hal yang wajib dilakukan. Hand sanitizer merupakan alternatif dari sabun cuci tangan yang dapat berfungsi sebagai cairan antiseptik, hand sanitizer menjadi salah satu item wajib yang harus dimiliki untuk menjaga kebersihan, baik setelah atau sebelum memegang sesuatu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui fomulasi spray hand sanitizer organik dan konsentrasi paling efektif dari formulasi spray hand sanitizer organik dari kombonasi ekstrak daun sirih hijau (Piper betle L.) dan daun lidah buaya (Aloe vera) terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian true eksperimental untuk mengetahui kombinasi ekstrak daun sirih hijau dan daun lidah buaya dalam bentuk formulasi spray hand sanitizer terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Obat Tradisonal dan Laboratorium Biologi kampus Politeknik Medica Farma Husada Mataram pada bulan Desember 2021. Populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah daun sirih hijau (Piper betle L.) dan daun lidah buaya (Aloe vera). Data dalam penelitian ini merupakan data primer yaitu observasi atau pengamatan langsung daya hambat hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri kombinasi daun sirih hijau dan daun lidah buaya terhadap pertumbuhan staphylococcus aerus. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tentang Formulasi spray organik kombinasi ekstrak daun sirih hijau dan daun lidah buaya sebagai Hand sanitizer memiliki efektivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Konsentrasi paling efektif dari formulasi spray kombinasi adalah konsentrasi 30% dengan nilai hambatan 7,62 mm yang merupakan daya hambat sedang. Pada penelitian yang selanjutnya perlu dikembangkan penelitian tentang Formulasi spray organik kombinasi ekstrak daun sirih hijau dan daun lidah buaya dalam bentuk sediaan farmasi yang lainnya, dan dilakukan perbaikan untuk formulasi sediaannya.

Abstract

Tomato is one of the plants that contain lycopene as an antibacterial. Acne is an infectious disease caused by Staphylococcus epidermidis. Antibiotic treatment starts to become resistant so that plants can be used as alternative treatments. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the ethanolic extract of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L) against the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria in vitro. This type of research is experimental. Extraction was carried out by maceration method with 96% ethanol as solvent. Lycopene extract with concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. Testing with the paper disk method with five repetitions. Aquadest as a negative control, and tetracycline as a positive control. The results showed that the diameter of the inhibition zone formed in the positive control was 40.36 mm (potent inhibition). Inhibition zones at concentrations of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20% had solid inhibitory power. The results of statistical tests showed that the ethanolic extract of tomato (Solanum lycopersycom L) had antibacterial effectiveness against the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria that causes acne in vitro. The post hoc test shows a significant effect between a T1 concentration of 100% with negative control and positive control

Abstract

Binahong (Anredera cordifolia steenis) is one of the plants that has the potential to be developed as a raw material for antibiotic drugs. Typhoid fever is a systemic infection caused by Salmonella typhi (S. typhi). Salmonella paratyphi A, B, and C can also cause an infection called paratyphoid fever. Typhoid and paratyphoid fever are included in enteric fever. In endemic areas, about 90% of enteric fever is typhoid fever. This study is a true experimental in the Biology lab of Politeknik Medica Farma Husada Mataram using the well method with 5 treatments, the treatment was repeated 6x with various concentrations of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20%, and cipropolacin antibiotics were used as positive controls and ethyl acetate as a negative control, the material used is thick extract of binahong leaves, after the thick extract of binahong leaves is produced, then the antibacterial inhibition test is carried out against the growth of salmonella thypi bacteria in vitro, the parameter observed is the diameter of the antibacterial inhibition zone of salmonella thypi, ANOVA test data analysis. The results showed that binahong leaves have the ability to inhibit the growth of salmonella thypi bacteria with the inhibition zone formed. The average inhibition zone of binahong leaf extract (Anredera Cardifolia Steenis) is 20% concentration of 18mm, 40% concentration of 12 mm, 60% concentration of 15mm, 80% concentration of 19 mm, and 100% concentration of 24mm.

Abstract

The horse whip leaves plant (Stachytarpheta jamaincensis) is an annual herbaceous shrub. Cuts are wounds that occur due to cuts by instruments or sharps objects. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ethanol extract of horse whip leaves on the healing of cuts in mice (Mus musculus) and the most effective concentration for healing cuts in mice. Design This study uses laboratory experimental methods. The sample used for each experimental group was 5 mice with a total of 5 groups, so this study used 25 mice with 3 treatments, namely the treatment (positive control (+), negative control (-), 25%, 50%, 75%). All data is tabulated and statistically analyzed with ANOVA. The conclusion shows that the concentration of horsetail leaf extract at a concentration of 75% is the most effective in healing cuts in mice when compared to horsetail leaf extract at concentrations of 50% and 25% in terms of the average percentage of healing from day 1 to day 7.

Abstract

Desa Merembu memiliki potensi sumber daya alam berupa air, lahan perkebunan, lahan persawahan, sungai dan hewan ternak. Namun, terdapat lahan kosong dan pekarangan rumah yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Lahan-lahan tersebut memiliki potensi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai tempat pembudidayaan apotik hidup yang berguna sebagai obat tradisional untuk meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat sekaligus menjadi sarana penghijauan lingkungan agar lebih asri. Hal ini disebabkan oleh masih kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang pentingnya apotik hidup jika dibudidayakan di lingkungan mereka. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian terkait pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pembudidayaan apotik hidup di desa Merembu agar masyarakat memiliki pengetahuan tentang manfaat dari apotik hidup. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif meliputi kegiatan observasi untuk mengidentifikasi masalah yang muncul di masyarakat untuk dikaji dan dicari solusinya. Kegiatan-kegiatan yang dilakukan dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat ini meliputi, kegiatan penyuluhan tentang pentingnya pembudidayaan apotik hidup dengan memanfaatkan lahan kosong atau pekarangan rumah, pemberian bibit tanaman apotik hidup, dan pelatihan penanaman tanaman apotik hidup. Secara keseluruhan kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pembudidayaan apotik hidup dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik di mana masyarakat telah dapat mengaplikasikan pengetahuan yang diperoleh dari kegiatan penyuluhan dengan menanam tanaman obat apotik hidup di lahan kosong maupun pekarangan rumah masing-masing.

Abstract

Di SMP Islam Iwan Bongkol Kopang adalah sering terdapat siswa- siswi yang menderita diare, kemudian lokasi sekolah yang tidak bersih, kurangnya perhatian siswa-siswi terhadap kebersihan, siswa-siswi belum pernah mendapatkan penyuluhan tentang PHBS dan pemeriksaan kesehatan. pemeriksaan golongan darah menggunakan kartu pemeriksaan golongan darah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada November sampai dengan Desember 2022 di SMP Islam Iwan Bongkol Kopang yang diadakan oleh dosen dan mahasiswa Politeknik Medica Farma Husada Mataram. Siswa-siswi yang mengikuti kegiatan ini sebanyak 35 orang. Pemeriksaan golongan darah ABO dilakukan untuk menentukan jenis golongan darah pada manusia. Penentuan golongan darah ABO pada umumnya dengan menggunakan metode   Slide. Metode ini didasarkan   pada prinsip reaksi antara aglutinogen (antigen) pada permukaan eritrosit dengan aglutinin yang terdapat dalam serum/plasma yang membentuk aglutinasi atau gumpalan

Abstract

Health problems often occur because people do not know how to use and manage medicines properly, including antibiotics. Improper use of antibiotics can result in bacterial resistance. The use of antibiotics can be controlled by limiting antibiotic prescribing and educating the public. Providing education to the public can be done through socialization of DAGUSIBU - an antibiotic drug. This activity aims to educate the public regarding how to obtain, use, store and dispose of antibiotics correctly while at the same time familiarizing the community with a culture of healthy living. Activities were carried out at the 2023 World Pharmacist Day (WPD) event in collaboration with PD IAI NTB and the Indonesian Heart Foundation NTB. The socialization consisted of delivering material by a pharmacist, followed by a questions and answer session as well as a demonstration of DAGUSIBU - an antibiotic drug. The material was provided through DAGUSIBU antibiotic drug posters and also TB treatment leaflets, there was a quiz given at the end of the activity to see the participants' level of understanding. Socialization also includes using teaching aids for medicines with specific usage methods, as well as the correct way to dispose of tablets or syrup. The results of service activities show that the community understands how to obtain, use, store and dispose of antibiotic drugs properly and correctly.
