Abstract

The transition between childhood and maturity makes adolescence a challenging period. Physical and psychological alterations in adolescents will have an effect on their mental health. Continuing efforts are made to prevent mental disorders in adolescents, including here by educating adolescents about mental health. Teenagers in the village of Ngadas have never received any mental health education. This community service activity seeks to increase adolescents' knowledge of mental health, including efforts to prevent mental disorders in adolescents, through the dissemination of information. On January 5, 2023, 35 young people participated in this community service in the Ngadas Malang tourism village at SMPN 3 Poncokusumo Ngadas. Through the use of thought-stopping and five-finger hypnosis, this community service intervention provides mental health education and prevention efforts. The results of this community service activity demonstrate an increase in adolescents' mental health knowledge from 60% to 80% in the excellent category and participants were able to do stress management with thought-stopping and five-finger hypnosis, namely 85%. Education on adolescent mental health can increase adolescents' knowledge of adolescent mental health and stress management techniques they can implement.

Abstract

Abstrak: Sentra produksi sandal menghasilkan limbah karet sandal yang sulit diuraikan. Tindakan membuang dan membakar limbah karet sandal yang selama ini dilakukan menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan. Program pengabdian masyarakat MONTESOL bertujuan menginisiasi usaha pemanfaatan limbah karet sandal menjadi alat permainan edukatif (APE) berbasis metode Montessori sebagai upaya peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat. Mitra program adalah 11 ibu-ibu PKK Desa Toyomarto. Metode pelaksanaan program terdiri dari edukasi manajemen limbah dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan pembuatan APE, pengemasan, dan pemasaran produk. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan mitra mengenai manajemen limbah (dari nilai rata-rata pre-test 65 menjadi 100 saat post-test); terciptanya 3 produk APE dengan merek Toysol (sortir warna, tempel dan bentuk, pohon bertumbuh); dan terjualnya 41 paket Toysol yang menghasilkan keuntungan bagi PKK Desa. Program MONTESOL membuka peluang usaha baru bagi masyarakat, sekaligus menawarkan pendekatan berkelanjutan terhadap pengurangan limbah dan pemberdayaan ekonomi.Abstract: Sandal production centers generate rubber sandal waste that is difficult to decompose. The practice of disposing and burning rubber sandal waste, which has been carried out so far, causes environmental pollution. The MONTESOL community service program aims to initiate efforts to utilize rubber sandal waste into educational toys (APE) based on the Montessori method as an effort to improve the community's economy. The program partners are 11 women from the Toyomarto Village PKK. The program implementation method consists of waste management education followed by training in the manufacture of APE, packaging, and product marketing. The program results show an increase in the partners' knowledge of waste management (from a pre-test average score of 65 to 100 in the post-test); the creation of 3 APE products under the Toysol brand (color sorting, sticking and shaping, growing trees); and the sale of 41 Toysol packages, generating profits for the village PKK. The MONTESOL program opens up new business opportunities for the community, while offering a sustainable approach to waste reduction and economic empowerment.

Abstract

Self-harm among adolescents is a mental health problem influenced by various psychosocial factors, including family support. The family serves as the primary support system that can protect adolescents from the effects of stress and maladaptive coping behaviors. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family support and the incidence of self-harm among adolescents. The study employed an analytic quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 476 adolescents selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Family support was measured using the Perceived Social Support–Family (PSS-Fa) questionnaire, while the incidence of self-harm was assessed using the Self-harm Inventory (SHI). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority of respondents had high levels of family support (65.8%) and did not engage in self-harm (78.2%). Bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between family support and the incidence of self-harm among adolescents (p < 0.001), where adolescents with high family support were more likely to be in the non–self-harm category, while mild and severe self-harm were more commonly found among adolescents with low family support. This study concludes that family support plays an important role as a protective factor against self-harm among adolescents. Strengthening the role of the family should be a key focus in family-based nursing interventions for the prevention of mental health problems in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia remains a significant global health burden, with auditory hallucinations being the most prevalent symptom. These symptoms impair social functioning and increase the risk of relapse, requiring effective distraction techniques. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing spiritual Dhikr (Islamic mindfulness) as a distraction technique combined with Standard Nursing Action Protocols (SPTK) to manage auditory hallucinations. Methods: A descriptive case study approach was utilized involving two clients in the Garuda Ward at Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Psychiatric Hospital. The intervention integrated the Standard Nursing Action Protocol (SPTK 1-4) with Dhikr as a distraction technique, conducted over five consecutive days for 15–30 minutes per session. Results: Following the intervention, both subjects demonstrated a significant reduction in the frequency of hallucinatory episodes. Objective observations indicated improved emotional stability, increased social interaction, and a greater capacity for self-control using the "thought-stopping" technique combined with Dhikr. Conclusion: The combination of SPTK and Dhikr distraction therapy is an effective complementary intervention for reducing the intensity of auditory hallucinations and strengthening the patient's coping mechanisms.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Stres merupakan hal yang sering dialami oleh mahasiswa pascasarjana terutama berkaitan dengan penampilan akademik. Paparan terhadap stres yang berlebihan tanpa kemampuan koping dan manajemen stres yang tepat bisa membuat mahasiswa mengalami gangguan kesehatan psikologis yang lebih serius seperti depresi hingga bunuh diri. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas program manajemen stres yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa pascasarjana Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan. Metode: Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental pre-post test control group design. Sampel penelitian merupakan mahasiswa pascasarjana yang mengikuti dan tidak mengikuti mata kuliah manajemen sebanyak 74 mahasiswa. 3 Kuesioner yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu skala stres, SRQ-20, dan Burn Out Self Test. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan uji paired T-Test. Hasil: Teknik manajemen stres yang diberikan kepada kelompok intervensi secara signifikan mampu menurunkan tingkat stres (p value 0,002), menurunkan skala burn out (p value 0,003) dan menurunkan tanda gejala gangguan mental emosional (p value 0,003). Sementara pada kelompok kontrol justru menunjukkan peningkatan skala stres dari skor rata-rata 161,14 menjadi 186,27, peningkatan skala burn out dari skor 28,27 menjadi 29,08 dan peningkatan tanda gejala gangguan mental emosional dari skor 3,19 menjadi 4,14. Kesimpulan: Manajemen stres multipel efektif diterapkan untuk menurunkan stres akademik mahasiswa program pascasarjana. Manajemen stres multipel direkomendasikan untuk diterapkan di perguruan tinggi untuk menurunkan tingkat stres mahasiswa terutama berkaitan dengan stres akademik.
