Abstract

Bajakah tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk.) is a plant that lives on vines in tropical areas. This plant comes from Sebuku Village, North Kalimantan. The Bajakah Tampala plant contains saponins, flavonoids and tannins. The roots of the Bajakah Tampala plant are thought to have strong antioxidant activity which is able to reduce the activity of free radicals. The aim of this research is to analyze the antioxidant activity of Bajakah Tampala roots using the DPPH reduction method using a UV Vis spectrophotometer which is based on calculating the IC50 value. The results of this study indicate that the ethanol extract of Bajakah Tampala roots has antioxidant activity against DPPH free radicals with an IC50 value of 9.206 µg/mL. which is included in the group of very strong antioxidants.

Abstract

ZHAFIRA ANGGRAINI MONDO. Comparison of Phenolic Content of Rubber Kebo (Ficus elastica) Leaf Extract Results from Multilevel Extraction Using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometry Method (Supervised by Asriani Suhaenah and Masdiana Tahir). The kebo rubber plant (Ficus elastica) is used by Indonesian people as traditional medicine, namely medicine to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, stroke, and reduce joint pain. Kebo rubber leaves (Ficus elastica) contain secondary metabolites such as saponins, polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins. This research aims to determine the comparison of phenolic compound levels of kebo rubber leaf extract (Ficus elastica) resulting from multilevel extraction using the UV-vis spectrophotometric method. The extraction process uses 3 different types of solvents, namely n-hexane (nonpolar), ethyl acetate (semipolar) and ethanol (polar) using a sonicator. Determination of phenolic content using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method, with a maximum wavelength of 772 nm and using gallic acid as a comparison. The results showed that the levels were influenced by the solvent used in comparing the phenolic compound levels of kebo rubber leaf extract (Ficus elastica) with the multilevel extraction method, namely n-hexane extract 3,774 mgGAE/g, ethyl acetate extract 12,696 mgGAE/g, ethanol extract 74,396 mgGAE/g g.

Abstract

NUR EVATIARA. Comparison of flavonoid levels of rubber plant leaf extract (Ficus elastica) resulting from multilevel extraction using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. (Supervised by Asriani Suhaenah and Masdiana Tahir). Rubber plant (Ficus elastica) is a plant in the Moraceae family whose leaves have been empirically stated to contain secondary metabolite compounds such as saponins, polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins which have been used as medicine for coughing up blood, improving urine flow, relieving pain and improving blood circulation. The aim of this research was to determine the comparison of levels of flavonoid compounds in rubber plant leaf extract (Ficus elastica) resulting from multilevel extraction using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. The multistage extraction process uses 3 different types of solvents, namely n-hexane (nonpolar), ethyl acetate (semipolar), and ethanol (polar) using a sonicator. Determination of flavonoid levels using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method, with a maximum wavelength of 432 nm and quarcetin as a comparison. The research results were influenced by the solvent used in comparing the levels of flavonoid compounds, namely rubber plant leaf extract (Ficus elastica) with a multilevel extraction method, namely N-hexane extract 7.161 mgQE/g, Ethyl acetate extract 7.663 mgQE/g, 96% Ethanol extract 10.592 mgQE/g g.

Abstract

The use of sulfonamide related to drug residual in the product of broiler chicken, like meat and egg. This research aimed to determine the sulfonamides (sulfamerazine, sulfanilamide, and sulfadiazine) on the broiler chicken meat, breast, and egg from the three different slaughterhouses circulating in the City of Makassar. The sample was extracted by acetonitrile and acetone then concentrated. The extract and sulfonamides then analyzed by HPLC method using C18 reverse phased column, UV-Visible detector in the wavelength of 270 nm. The result of study shows that the chromatogram of sample breast and egg has similar retention time with sulfonamides as a standard reference. The breast sample contains sulfamerazine residues, sample B and C contains 0.014 and 0.005 % (w/w), respectively. The egg sample A and D contains sulfadiazine 0.045 and 0.108 % (w/w), respectively. Sample B contains sulfanilamide 0.053 % (w/w). Sample A and B is egg yolk, while sample D is egg whites. Based on the results obtained, this is not suitable for the rules set by JECFA of 0.1 mg/kg (10-5 % w/w) as well as the standard of SNI. It can be concluded that generally broiler chicken breast and egg circulating in the City of Makassar was contaminated by sulfonamide with high concentration.

Abstract

Clove is a spice plant used in the kretek cigarette industry, food, beverage, and medicine. Clove leaves contain chemical compounds, namely saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and essential oils. The exploration of clove leaves has not been maximally carried out. Therefore, this study aims to determine the total phenolic content in the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves by using gallic acid as a comparison. Clove leaves were powdered and then macerated by ethanol. The ethanol extract was dissolved in distilled water and it was fractionated with ethyl acetate on a separating funnel. The method used in this assay is the UV-Vis spectrophotometry technique. The qualitative analysis was performed by adding the FeCl3 reagent. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves contained a total phenolic compound of 65.52 mg gallic acid equivalent per gram of extract (GAE/g). Thus, the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves is feasible to be developed as a source of phenolic compound.

Abstract

The village of Borisallo is a Development Partner Village of UMI in Gowa Regency. One of theeducational facilities is SD Inpres Borisallo where a school is a place of learning that can be athreat of disease transmission if it is not managed properly. Problems with children's healthbehavior are usually related to personal and environmental hygiene. By that, the planting of valuesof health behavior in elementary schools is an absolute necessity and an effort to realize "Healthyand Independent Community" as contained in the health profile of Gowa Regency. As for studentsin SD Inpres Borisallo as many as 102 children with 9 teaching staff. Ideally, the health ofelementary school children is monitored by UKS, but due to various limitations, the role of theUKS SD Inpres Borisallo has not been implemented optimally and there is no special handwashing place for students. The target to be achieved is to increase students' knowledge, awareness, willingness and ability to live clean and healthy lives, and be expected to play an activerole in realizing optimal health degrees, instilling clean and healthy behavioral values (PHBS),improving the practice of handwashing with soap true and became a habit in the daily lives of SDInpres Borisallo students. The approach taken to achieve the target is to provide clean and healthylife behavior counseling (PHBS) and socialization of how to wash hands with soap properly andcorrectly, procure posters on how to wash hands and procure water tap pipe installationinfrastructure for hand washing needs in SD Inpres Borisallo students.
