Abstract

Polman Babel is one of the places for the nation's next generation to carry out the teaching and learning process in Bangka Regency to respond positively to regulations related to the No Smoking Area (KTR). This is realized by the presence of warning boards regarding the prohibition of smoking at several locations. The smoke-free area policy has been enforced, but there are still some violators and lack of awareness to comply with the regulation. To overcome this problem, a smoke detector is needed that can be used in the campus environment. A cigarette smoke detector using MQ-135 sensor and MQ-2 sensor that can emit a sound to encourage smokers to put out their cigarettes and leave the area. Detection testing was carried out with various sensor distances from the source measured from 50 cm to 200 cm with the appearance of warnings from loudspeakers. The farther the sensor is from the smoke source, the smaller the detection value will be, depending on the position of the sensor and the smoke source.

Abstract

The old machine condition can give losses in the company, where the machines can not work optimally which commonly causes the defective product as much as 12%. The defect percentage has been over the tolerance limit of the company, which is only 6-9%. This study aims to analyze the worst defect level by finding out the highest damage value of the Risk Priority Number (RPN). The analysis of the failure mode occurred was conducted through Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) Method by concerning to the defect level of the high value of Occurrence, Severity, and Detection that generated the highest damage value. The highest analysis value based on this method was the RPN value that exceeded the critical value which was 100 RPN. Then to solve the problem, the analysis results utilized the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to find out the cause of the failure mode. After that, the Fishbone diagram method was used to determine the cause and effect (Cause-Effect) that cause product defects to occur. Furthermore, the results showed that the value had exceeded the critical number, where 180 RPN were obtained in crack mode and 240 RPN in asymmetric diameter mode. Then the highest critical value was obtained in the crack mode and asymmetrical diameter as the biggest factor of the product defects occurred. Therefore the results of this study are expected to reduce the  high  level of  product defects occur, by evaluating and re-concerning the production  process periodically on noticing the two biggest factors that greatly affect the occurrence of product defects in the company

Abstract

Community Service Activities by the Mechanical Engineering Study Program of Medan Area University aim to bridge the world of higher education with the needs of local industry. This activity takes the form of industrial visits and hands-on learning at CV Bengkel Bukit Harapan, a metal casting manufacturing workshop located in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. The methods used include theoretical counseling, field observation, open discussions, and direct practice. Students gain real-world experience in the metal casting process, from melting and pouring to work safety aspects and product finishing. The interaction between lecturers, students, and industry partners results in a two-way exchange of Knowledge that enriches students' technical insights and practical skills while also providing industry partners with valuable technical input. This activity demonstrates that a field-based collaborative approach enhances the effectiveness of learning and fosters stronger campus-industry partnerships. The results of this activity will serve as a model for sustainable synergy in community empowerment through technical education.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan adanya permasalahan, yaitu penggunaan pendekatan pembelajaran yang masih kurang efektif dan bermakna sehingga menyebabkan rendahnya aktivitas dan hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Matematika peserta didik kelas IV A SDN 58 Sungai Raya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas dan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas IV A SDN 58 Sungai Raya dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran problem posing. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), yang terdiri dari dua siklus dengan melakukan tahapan-tahapan seperti tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Fokus penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran problem posing, aktivitas, dan hasil belajar matematika peserta didik kelas IV A dengan jumlah 24 orang, yang terdiri dari 11 orang laki-laki dan 13 orang perempuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan aktivitas dan hasil belajar peserta didik kelas IV A di kelas. Aktivitas mengajar guru dalam siklus I berada pada kategori sedang yang kemudian menjadi kategori baik pada siklus II. Begitu juga pada aktivitas belajar peserta didik dalam siklus I berada pada kategori sedang kemudian menjadi kategori baik pada siklus II. Peningkatan juga terjadi pada hasil belajar peserta didik. Pada siklus I peserta didik belum berhasil mencapai ketuntasan yang telah ditentukan sehingga berada pada kategori cukup. Pada siklus II hasil belajar peserta didik sudah meningkat, dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata kelas yang mengalami peningkatan dan berada pada kategori baik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran problem posing dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar matematika pada peserta didik kelas IV A SDN 58 Sungai Raya. Abstract

The learning system in higher education is the interaction of students with lecturers, education staff, fellow students, and other factors . Students in carrying out learning activities need certain encouragement so that their learning activities can produce learning achievements that are in line with the expected goals. Maximum student learning achievement certainly needs to take into account various factors that encourage students to study effectively. One of the causal factors that influences this is learning motivation. The motivation obtained by students will make them more responsible for their attitudes, both in the academic and social fields. The research objective of this study is to find out whether the Learning System has an effect on Learning Motivation and wants to know the magnitude of the direct and indirect influence of the Learning System on Learning Motivation.  This research​  has 3 independent variables, namely Facilities, Environment and Learning Administration , 1 intervening variable namely Learning System and 1 dependent variable namely Learning Motivation. The results of this research are known to have a positive and significant effect. The most dominant variable in influencing learning motivation, where the learning system is the connecting variable, is the environmental variable of 5.763. The environment will have an impact on motivating students to study hard.

Abstract

Kelapa sawit merupakan tanaman yang menghasilkan minyak sawit dan inti sawit, yang selanjutnya diolah menjadi CPO (Crude Palm Oil). Permasalahan yang terjadi adalah adanya penyimpangan nilai asam lemak bebas, kadar air, dan kadar kotoran dari batas maksimum yang telah ditetapkan perusahaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui varians yang memengaruhi kualitas CPO dan inti sawit menggunakan metode ANOVA. ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) merupakan prosedur uji statistik yang digunakan untuk menguji perbedaan rata-rata dari lebih dari dua kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hampir seluruh data pengamatan terhadap FFA, kadar air, dan kadar kotoran berada dalam batas kendali. Hasil uji ANOVA untuk FFA, kadar air, dan kadar kotoran menunjukkan bahwa nilai Fhitung lebih kecil dibandingkan Ftabel (Fhitung < Ftabel), yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata pengamatan terhadap kualitas CPO.

Detection tests were carried out with the distance of the sensor from the measured source of 1 meter to 3 meters and the calculation of the time from the appearance of smoke to the warning sound from the loudspeaker. The farther the sensor is from the smoke source, the smaller the detection value will be, depending on the position of the sensor and the smoke source. The sensor position that is accurate in detection is the sensor with the position facing down because it directly hits the smoke source. Like the nature of smoke that spreads from low places spreads towards the top.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the working postures of laboratory analysts using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method to identify the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Observations were conducted during primary laboratory activities to document body posture, joint angles, and work duration. The RULA assessment indicated moderate to high risk, suggesting the need for immediate corrective actions. Major contributing factors to MSD risk included bent working postures, repetitive arm movements, and non-ergonomic workstation design. Recommended improvements involve workstation adjustment, posture correction, and the application of ergonomic principles. This study is expected to support MSD prevention efforts and improve comfort and productivity among laboratory analysts.

Abstract

This Community Service activity was carried out at the Roti Pakcik Tanjung Morawa MSME through work process observations, discussions with the owner and workers, and recording the condition of the production facility. The activity focused on two fundamental needs of the MSME: improving the layout of the work area to enhance production efficiency and identifying the need for relevant production technology. The observation results showed a crowded work area, unclear functional zoning, and the movement of materials and products across the same area. These conditions increased waiting times, increased the risk of cross-contamination, and complicated quality control. In addition, the production process still relied on manual practices and limited tools, so there was a need for technology in the form of a flour sifting machine to maintain ingredient consistency, a mixer to maintain dough homogeneity according to production capacity, and a bread cutting machine to speed up the process, improve size uniformity, and reduce work fatigue. The activity resulted in a workflow problem map, an initial zoning design, and a list of technology priorities as a basis for further mentoring. These findings position the program as the initial stage of a realistic and field-based MSME production transformation.
