Abstract

The objective of this research was to estimate and analyze the availability of Angel fish (Pomacanthus sp.) based on the coral diversity conditions in the Spermonde waters of Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi. The research method was based on parallel sampling of fish abundance (visual census) and coral cover percentage (Point Intercept Transect) at the study sites, namely Liukang Tumppabiring and Liukang Tangaya waters. The results showed that Liukang Tuppabiring had a fish abundance of 0.00005 individuals per square meter with a standing stock of 138 individuals, while Liukang Tangaya had a fish abundance of 0.005 individuals per square meter with a standing stock of 35,121 individuals. The abundance of Angel fish did not correlate positively with live coral cover, but its presence was influenced by the structural growth forms of the coral, namely branching, submassive, and massive coral in crevices. The production status of Angel fish in the Spermonde waters has exceeded the maximum sustainable yield (MSY). Therefore, additional fishing efforts would decrease the production of Angel fish. This indicates that the Angel fish has been overfished, which can affect its supply. In addition, the inverted curved supply curve indicates a decreasing supply, even with increasing fish prices, as it is suspected that the stock is decreasing.

Abstract

Improving Ornamental Coral's Production by Inventory System for Development of Maritime Tourism Village in Karanrang Island, Pangkep, South Sulawesi This regional development science and technology program (PIPK) aims to increase the production of ornamental corals through the application of an inventory system in the context of developing a Maritime Tourism Village on Karanrang Island, Pangkep, South Sulawesi. The strategic potential of coral reefs is the main focus to be developed through ornamental coral cultivation. This PIPK program was implemented by involving two small business groups, namely DEWIKAR UKM and Rezky Bahari UKM. The program also includes assistance in procuring coral seed sources, production techniques, and sustainable maintenance. The results of the Pre Test given to partners showed that previously only 9 out of 15 people (60%) had a general understanding of post-harvest maintenance of ornamental corals. Then after the mentoring process, it increased to 14 out of 15 people (93%), especially in terms of legality when obtaining broodstock from nature (F0) and the process of selecting quality broodstock according to export standards which subsequently became first generation (F1) pups. This PIPK program supports environmental conservation, sustainable economic growth, and the marine tourism industry.

Abstract

The ornamental fish business over time experiences an increasing trend. The large supply of ornamental fish that enter Makassar city shows that the public's interest in ornamental fish in Makassar city is quite high, thus making the ornamental fish business as a very promising opportunity to be pursued. The objective of the Regional Superior Product Development Program (PPPUD) is to develop the business activities of SME partners to be more economically independent and improve softskill and hardskiil skills about ornamental fish business and aquarium manufacturing. The method used is to conduct training and introduction activities on the business of ornamental fish on a commercial scale followed by demonstration of the procedures for the creation of aquariums to SMEs and fishing groups who become partners. The result obtained from this activity is that SMEs and Catcher Groups understand about ornamental fish business activities in this case the manufacture of aquariums as diversified ornamental fishing efforts that have been pursued by both SME partners. Partners are expected to fill the local market that has not been filled and compete in the aquarium and ornamental fish business. With this activity, there is an increase in commercial-scale aquarium manufacturing skills for the local market, so that both SMEs can sell ornamental fish production and can also sell aquariums and their contents so that the revenue from SMEs is increased.

Abstract

The coral potential has Indonesia the first-class exporter of nature coral. The paradigm of the export market of corals is very interested in cultivated corals products because of the diversification of production, so that the variety can meet the export market as an opportunity to conduct business activities that can improve the welfare of the fishing community, regional income and national income. The purpose of this program is to obtain a number of products, types and quality as well as an increase in the quality of coral habitats in general in a planned manner that can guarantee the sustainability of ornamental coral businesses that can stimulate the nuances of business competition full of creativity and dedication with a touch of innovation efforts to continuously develop production without dependence on the product natural. The method used is fragmentation where the colony is taken from a particular parent colony by planting an artificial substrate paste placed on the construction and design of an environmentally friendly table rack at sea that can form coral or coral buds that produce the number and quality of export standards from the production plan of the yield Ornamental coral cultivation in a sustainable and community-based manner. Production results before being developed and subsequently sold to the market must first go through the process of applicable regulations. The technology developed is eco-technology (ecosystem technology) which is certainly oriented towards agribusiness through a seafarming program (coral cultivation) or an effort to utilize sustainable management methods (suistainable) based on community and tourism. The improvement of ornamental corals product quality is innovative product diversification in the inventory system with the application of ammonia (protein skimmer) removal equipment for ornamental corals at harvest time and maintained in an aquarium before being exported.
