Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Catholic Religious Education Teachers in increasing students' learning motivation in Private High School RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a qualitative approach. A total of 12 informants consisting of students, Catholic Religious Education teachers, and school principals were involved in this study. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of data processing show two main things. First, there was an increase in learning motivation in class XI IPS students at RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam Private High School. Second, the role of the Catholic Religious Education Teacher is very important and influential in increasing student learning motivation. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that Catholic Religious Education Teachers continue to play an active role in increasing the learning motivation of class XI IPS students at the Private High School RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam, and continue to use the same approach in dealing with these students.

Abstract

Antisocial behavior is an action that harms others. At the junior high school level, anti-social behavior that appears to be carried out by students in the form of: bullying, not caring when their friends cry and laugh when they are punished and disturbing their friends during prayer. To overcome anti-social behavior in students, the existence of a PAK teacher is the right solution to overcome this behavior through its role, namely; as a motivator, learning manager, facilitator, role model and mentor. This study aims to overcome anti-social behavior in students through the role of PAK teachers. This research uses a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Based on the results of the study, the Catholic Religious Education (PAK) Teacher appears to have been effective in playing his role in overcoming anti-social behavior in students at SMP ST. Antonius Bangun Mulia Junior High School. Through his role, the Catholic Religious Education teacher has increased students' learning motivation, attracted students' interest in learning through learning management, provided various media to make it easier for students to understand the subject matter, became a model for students' behavior, and guided and directed students to have good attitudes and behavior.

Abstract

Purpose – Gadget addiction is a condition where a person is said to be a gadget addict when they spend most of their time playing gadgets. Gadget addiction is a condition in which a person experiences excessive dependence on the use of electronic devices, such as cell phones or tablets, thus disrupting their daily life and health. The purpose of this study is to find out how the condition of gadget addiction in students and to find out the role of Catholic religious education teachers in overcoming gadget addiction in students.Method – The research method conducted by the author is Using qualitative methods, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation.The result of observations and interviews Data processing techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.Findings – The research findings show the high level of gadget addiction in students and in overcoming students' gadget addiction, teachers play five roles, namely as role models by giving examples of deactivating gadgets before learning, as learning managers by making lesson plans and using methods that are suitable for students, as motivators by motivating students such as giving positive praise and punishment, as facilitators by preparing books, and as facilitators by preparing books for students. Research Implications – The implication of this study shows that the high gadget addiction among SMA Negeri 1 Delitua students affects their academic productivity, mental health, and social interaction. PAK teachers act as role models, learning managers, motivators, facilitators, and mentors, which are effective in reducing gadget addiction in students.

Abstract

Stress and the management of student stress are crucial issues in the field of education, especially at the high school level. Grade X students at SMA RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam experience academic stress caused by heavy workloads, grade competition, exam anxiety, and uncertainty about their future education. This stress affects students cognitively, affectively, behaviorally, and physiologically, which in turn disrupts their learning process. This study aims to examine how stress is managed among Grade X students and how Catholic Religious Education (PAK) contributes to the coping process. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects were Grade X students and the Catholic Religion teacher. The findings show that stress management is facilitated through spiritual guidance, moral motivation, and reflective activities such as prayer and sharing, led by the PAK teacher. The PAK learning materials, particularly "I Am a Unique Individual" and "Equality between men and women"  help students to know themselves, accept their uniqueness, and build healthy relationships with others and with God. The PAK teacher also acts as a spiritual companion who encourages students to be more open, optimistic, and faithful in facing academic pressures. Thus, Catholic Religious Education has proven to be an effective means of helping students cope with academic stress in the school environment. ABSTRAKStres dan penanggulangan stres siswa merupakan isu penting dalam dunia pendidikan, khususnya di tingkat SMA. Siswa kelas X di SMA RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam mengalami tekanan akademik yang berasal dari banyaknya tugas, persaingan nilai, kecemasan menjelang ujian, serta kebingungan menentukan masa depan. Stres ini berdampak pada aspek kognitif, afektif, perilaku, dan fisiologis siswa yang mengganggu proses belajar mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana bentuk penanggulangan stres yang dialami siswa kelas X dan bagaimana pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik (PAK) berkontribusi dalam proses tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah guru PAK dan siswa kelas X. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penanggulangan stres dilakukan melalui pendekatan spiritual, motivasi moral, serta kegiatan reflektif dan doa yang dipandu oleh guru PAK. Pembelajaran PAK, khususnya pada materi “Aku Pribadi yang Unik” dan “ kesetaran antara laki-laki dan perempuan” membekali siswa untuk mengenal diri, menerima keunikan mereka, serta membangun relasi yang sehat dengan sesama dan Tuhan. Guru PAK juga memainkan peran sebagai pendamping rohani yang mendorong siswa untuk lebih terbuka, optimis, dan beriman dalam menghadapi tekanan akademik. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran PAK terbukti efektif menjadi sarana penanggulangan stres siswa di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

Students' emotional disorders are still a source of problems in the world of education.  This emotional disorder will influence their future and their adolescence itself. The other researcher has been done some therapy, but it doesn’t work enough to pretend the teenager’s emotional disorder. This research aims to offer a solution to the problem of emotional disorders, especially depression, anxiety, and panic disorders. The solution in question is an emotional therapy called The Heart Technique, which is part of hypnotherapy. The method used is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach. The subjects of this research were Class XI SOS students at RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam Private High School. SOS 1 class is the experimental class and SOS 2 class is the control class. Data processing was carried out using Excel and SPSS applications. The results of data processing show that the heart technique therapy is effective in reducing students' emotional disorders.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms of academic anxiety experienced by students and the role of Catholic Religious Education in overcoming such anxiety at SMA Negeri SMAK Samosir. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Informants included the Catholic Religious Education teacher and ten purposively selected students. The findings indicate that students’ academic anxiety manifests in three main aspects: affective, physiological, and cognitive. The affective aspect is dominated by a lack of self-confidence; the physiological aspect is marked by rapid heartbeat; and the cognitive aspect is characterized by negative thoughts. Catholic Religious Education plays a significant role in alleviating academic anxiety through the topic of "Conscience," which fosters moral awareness, and the topic of "I Am a Unique Person," which encourages self-acceptance. The study concludes that Catholic Religious Education contributes meaningfully to shaping student character, enabling them to face academic pressure with greater self-awareness, confidence, and emotional resilience. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk kecemasan akademik siswa serta peran pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik dalam menanggulangi kecemasan tersebut di SMA Negeri SMAK Samosir. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari guru Pendidikan Agama Katolik dan sepuluh orang siswa yang dipilih secara purposif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecemasan akademik siswa muncul dalam tiga aspek, yaitu afektif, fisiologis, dan kognitif. Pada aspek afektif, gejala yang paling dominan adalah rasa tidak percaya diri; pada aspek fisiologis ditandai dengan detak jantung yang cepat; dan pada aspek kognitif muncul dalam bentuk pikiran negatif. Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik memainkan peran signifikan dalam menanggulangi kecemasan akademik melalui materi “Suara Hati” yang menumbuhkan kesadaran moral serta materi “Aku Pribadi yang Unik” yang mendorong penerimaan diri. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa Pendidikan Agama Katolik berkontribusi nyata dalam membentuk karakter siswa yang mampu menghadapi tekanan akademik dengan lebih reflektif, percaya diri, dan tangguh secara emosional.

Abstract

This study examines the understanding of altar servers regarding the Eucharistic Celebration at St. Pius X Station, Sicanang Island, Santo Konrad Martubung Parish. The background of this research is rooted in the crucial role of altar servers in supporting the solemnity and order of the liturgy, while in practice many of them demonstrate limited comprehension of the spiritual, theological, and symbolic dimensions of the Eucharist. The study aims to analyze how altar servers understand their role and participation in the Eucharistic liturgy. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the altar servers’ understanding tends to be predominantly technical rather than spiritual. Their service is often carried out as a routine activity, with minimal awareness of liturgical symbolism and the deeper meaning of Eucharistic celebration. In addition, motivation to serve is frequently influenced by peer encouragement rather than personal vocation. The research highlights the need for continuous and holistic formation that integrates liturgical knowledge, spiritual growth, and character development. Such formation is essential to foster altar servers who are not only competent in carrying out technical tasks at the altar but also spiritually mature, responsible, and conscious of the sacred mystery they serve in the life of the Church.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Self-confidence is an important aspect of adolescent development that influences academic performance, social interaction, and identity formation. However, some students still lack the confidence to ask questions, express opinions, and speak in front of the class. This study aims to analyze the contribution of Catholic Religious Education in strengthening the self-confidence of tenth-grade students at Santo Antonius Bangun Mulia Senior High School, Medan. The study employed a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of two teachers and ten tenth-grade students. The findings revealed that Catholic Religious Education contributes to strengthening students’ self-confidence through the cultivation of values of love, self-respect, and self-identity. Students became more active in discussions, more willing to ask questions, more confident during presentations, and more comfortable interacting with teachers and peers. The study concludes that the internalization of Catholic Religious Education values plays a significant role in enhancing students’ self-confidence and supporting the development of positive character, while also providing a foundation for more reflective and participatory learning practices in schools. ABSTRAK Keyakinan diri merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan remaja yang memengaruhi kemampuan akademik, interaksi sosial, dan pembentukan identitas diri. Namun, masih ditemukan peserta didik yang kurang berani bertanya, menyampaikan pendapat, dan tampil di depan kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kontribusi Pendidikan Agama Katolik dalam memperkuat keyakinan diri peserta didik kelas X di SMA Santo Antonius Bangun Mulia Medan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Partisipan penelitian terdiri atas dua guru dan sepuluh peserta didik kelas X. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pendidikan Agama Katolik berkontribusi dalam memperkuat keyakinan diri peserta didik melalui penanaman nilai kasih, penghargaan terhadap diri, dan pemahaman jati diri. Peserta didik menjadi lebih aktif dalam diskusi, lebih berani bertanya, lebih percaya diri saat presentasi, serta lebih nyaman berinteraksi dengan guru dan teman sebaya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa internalisasi nilai-nilai Pendidikan Agama Katolik berperan dalam memperkuat keyakinan diri dan mendukung pembentukan karakter positif peserta didik, serta menjadi dasar pengembangan pembelajaran yang lebih reflektif dan partisipatif di sekolah.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Self-confidence is an important aspect that supports students’ academic and social development. In the educational context, teachers are not only responsible for delivering learning materials but also for fostering students’ belief in their own abilities. This study examines the self-confidence of eleventh-grade students in Catholic Religious Education classes at SMA Katolik Cinta Kasih Tebing Tinggi, Medan, and explores the strategies employed by teachers to support its development. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, involving Catholic Religious Education teachers and eleventh-grade students as research participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The trustworthiness of the findings was ensured through source and technique triangulation.The findings indicate that the students demonstrated a good level of self-confidence, reflected in their willingness to express opinions, ability to manage emotions, independent learning habits, and awareness of their personal potential. These characteristics were supported by various teacher strategies, including motivational support, Christian role modeling, personal mentoring, reflective activities, collaborative learning, and the implementation of active learning methods. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of Christian values and individualized guidance as an approach to fostering self-confidence that extends beyond academic aspects to students’ overall personal development. Therefore, the strategies implemented by Catholic Religious Education teachers contribute to strengthening students’ confidence, independence, and participation in both classroom learning and social life within the school environment. ABSTRAK Kepercayaan diri merupakan salah satu aspek penting yang mendukung perkembangan akademik dan sosial peserta didik. Dalam konteks pendidikan, peran guru tidak hanya terbatas pada penyampaian materi, tetapi juga mencakup upaya membangun keyakinan siswa terhadap kemampuan dirinya. Penelitian ini mengkaji self-confidence siswa kelas XI dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik di SMA Katolik Cinta Kasih Tebing Tinggi serta strategi yang digunakan guru untuk mendukung proses tersebut. Kajian dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan guru Pendidikan Agama Katolik dan siswa kelas XI sebagai sumber data. Informasi diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Keabsahan temuan diperkuat melalui triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki tingkat self-confidence yang baik, yang tercermin dari keberanian mengemukakan pendapat, kemampuan mengelola emosi, kemandirian belajar, serta kesadaran terhadap potensi diri. Kondisi tersebut didukung oleh berbagai strategi guru, seperti pemberian motivasi, keteladanan hidup Kristiani, pendampingan personal, kegiatan refleksi, kerja kelompok, dan penggunaan metode pembelajaran aktif. Kebaruan penelitian terletak pada integrasi nilai-nilai Kristiani dan pendekatan pendampingan individual sebagai sarana pembentukan self-confidence yang tidak hanya menyentuh aspek akademik, tetapi juga perkembangan pribadi siswa secara menyeluruh. Dengan demikian, strategi guru Pendidikan Agama Katolik berkontribusi dalam memperkuat keberanian, kemandirian, dan partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran maupun kehidupan sosial di sekolah.
