Abstract

The use of media in the learning process should be base on an objectivecriterion which includes the learning goal (basic and standard competence), thelearning activities and evaluation. This research is class experience in solving thedecreasing motivation and enthusiasm. As a medium in teaching civics, infocusshould be selected on the basis of its contens. The research was divided into twocycles, of which the result was analysed qualitatively with categorical andfunctional parameter through interactive model. The first cycle gave the expectedresults but needed to maximized. After infocus was used, 71 % of the studentsshowed an improved motivation. This could be seen from their participation in theclass discussion. In the second cycle, the learning process showed its maximumresult, in which 94 % of the students gave their full participation in the lesson.

Abstract

Courteous and friendly attitude is a characteristic of the Indonesian people long ago. However, this attitude has begun to erode by the times. Adolescents in particular no longer have a polite attitude, both to parents especially to others. Therefore, polite attitude must be developed again. Educational institutions have a central role in the process of developing polite attitudes through character-based education processes.

Abstract

This research aims to see the level of political participation of fishing communities in the District of Sungai Limau in the 1999 legislative elections, namely in Jorong Pasir Baru and Sungai Sirah. This goal is achieved through a qualitative approach by following the steps that are applied Milles and Huberman. Informants determined by using the snow ball sampling techniques that include fishing (fishing boat owners and fishermen, workers), wife of fishermen, wali jorong, as well as public figures. The study findings suggest that the level of political participation of fishing communities in the legislative elections Sungai Limau  in 1999 are higher when compared with the level of political participation at before election period, namely 96.2% in Sungai Sirah and 94.12% in Pasir Baru or above 90% . Sungai Limau fishing communities take advantage of the freedom of choice provided by Era Reformasi to choose according to their wishes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan analsis kritis terhadap literatur (kepustakaan) mengenai pendidikan karakter. Pendidikan karakter merupakan salah satu formulasi yang tepat untuk membangun karakter generasi muda. Kondisi generasi muda Indonesia dewasa ini berada dalam posisi yang cukup meresahkan. Berbagai kasus yang melibatkan generasi muda makin memperlihatkan bahwa telah terjadi degradasi moral yang menandakan generasi muda tidak lagi memiliki karakter yang baik.Untuk itu, pendidikan karakter sangat dibutuhkan.Salah satu sarana untuk mengimplementasikan nilai-nilai dalam pendidikan karakter kepada generasi muda adalah melalui Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan. Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan diharapkan mampu menghidupkan kembali karakter peserta didik yang semakin merosot menuju karakter yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Pancasila.

Abstract

AbstractThe problem in this study is the lack of public awareness in utilizing the existing tourism potential in improving the community's economy and also the role of the government in preserving and developing cultural villages has not been maximized. This study also aims to obtain concrete data by processing and analyzing the discussion of the role of the KAN traditional institution in preserving and developing cultural tourism in Nagari Jawi-Jawi, Solok Regency in terms of tourism potential and the role of the KAN traditional institution in preserving and developing cultural tourism. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive research methods and the selection of informants is carried out by purposive sampling technique with the informant subject, namely the local government and Nagari government and traditional leaders who are in Nagari Jawi-Jawi, Solok Regency. The data collection used is observation, interviews and documentation with the data obtained in terms of the potential for cultural tourism and the role of the KAN traditional institution in preserving and developing cultural tourism. supported by its beautiful nature. And related to the role of the KAN customary institution in preserving and developing cultural tourism in the Jawi-Jawi villages, it has been carried out quite well in terms of attractiveness and cooperation with traditional institutions, the government with the cooperation between the local government and the nagari.Keywords: Potency, Cultural tourism, the role of KANAbstrakPermasalahan dalam  penelitian ini adalah kurang kesadaran masyarakat dalam  memanfaatkan potensi wisata yang ada dalam meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat dan juga peran pemerintah dalam melestarikan dan mengembangkan kampung budaya belum maksimal. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk memperoleh data yang konkrit dengan mengolah dan menganalisis terhadap pembahasan peranan lembaga adat KAN dalam melestarikan dan Mengembangkan Wisata Budaya di Nagari Jawi-Jawi Kabupaten Solok dilihat dari potensi wisata dan peranan lembaga Adat KAN dalam melestarikan dan Mengembangkan wisata budaya. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif dan pemilihan informan dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan subjek informan yaitu pemerintah daerah dan pemerintah Nagari dan tokoh adat yang berada di nagari Jawi-Jawi Kabupaten Solok. Pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi dengan data yang diperoleh ditinjau dari potensi wisata budaya dan peran lembaga adat KAN dalam melestarikan dan mengembangkan wisata budaya.Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwa kampung budaya memiliki potensi yang baik dalam melestarikan dan mengembangkan wisata budaya hal ini didukung dengan alamnya yang indah. Dan terkait dengan peranan Lembaga adat KAN dalam melestarikan dan mengembangkan wisata budaya dinagari Jawi-Jawi sudah terlaksana cukup baik  dari segi daya tarik  dan kerjasama lembaga adat, pemerintah dengan adanya kerjasama antara pemerintah daerah dan nagari. Kata kunci : potensi, wisata budaya, peran KAN

Abstract

Character education is a must for countries that want to make their citizens have good attitudes and behaviors. The goal to be achieved in Community Service activities is to make students aware of the need to have and implement attitudes that have character. In the school environment, the teacher's role is to educate the character of students. Thus, community service activities want to make students aware and want to instill and develop character attitudes through socialization. Socialization is given to provide direct literacy of character education to students. Socialization is filled with questions and answers so that students who are not familiar with matters relating to character can immediately ask the implementation team.

Abstract

Beggar is part of the big city problem in Indonesia. Bukittinggi in West Sumatera was not immune from this problem, especially on the children who become beggar. These beggars have pattern of work that make up the social network. Descriptive qualitative research was employed in this study where it involve the children who become beggars. The aim is to explore the ponomenon and the types of social network among the girls beggar. The data of this reserarch are acquired from the girls who run her live as the beggar who are regularly settled and stay aroud the Jam Gadang clock Tower.  Finally, this research conclude that the shape of a social network that is developed by child gepeng in Bukittinggi are: 1) sosial network based on kinship, 2) social network are formed by social groups in the pattern of vertical relationships, 3) social network are formed in new social groups in order to meet the needs of each.

Abstract

Democracy and civil society are two concepts that cannot be separated from one another. In essence, democracy will only be implemented well in a civil society. Correspondingly, a civil society will definitely implement the principles of democracy. Today, all countries in the world claim that they apply the concept of democracy. However, is the implementation of democracy carried out in accordance with democratic principles that should be adhered to by civil society? Not necessarily, because many countries claim to adhere to the principle of democracy, but its implementation is still not democratic.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan komunikasi verbal guru dengan peserta didik dalam penanaman nilai-nilai karakter di SD Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP di Kota Padang, mengidentifikasi faktor penghambat dalam penanaman nilai-nilai karakter melalui komunikasi verbal di SD Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP di Kota Padang, serta untuk memaparkan solusi yang dapat digunakan dalam mengatasi permasalahan dalam penanaman nilai-nilai karakter melalui komunikasi verbal di SD Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP di Kota Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Lokasi penelitian di SD Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP di Kota Padang. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 8 orang, meliputi 3 orang guru kelas, 1 orang guru agama, kepala sekolah, dan siswa berjumlah 3 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa upaya guru dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter melalui komunikasi verbal kepada siswa mulai dari nilai religius dengan cara guru mengharuskan siswa mengucapakan salam, membaca asmaul husna dan berdoa sebelum memulai pembelajaran. Selanjutnya dalam penanaman nilai kejujuran, guru memberi peringatan untuk tidak mencontek dalam ulangan maupun ujian semester. Sementara dalam penanaman nilai tanggung jawab, guru memberi tanggung jawab kepada siswa berupa tugas piket.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the increase in civics learning achievement through the provision of motivation by parents and to find out the obstacles experienced in an effort to improve learning achievement in Civics subjects. Research methods used are Qualitative with a Descriptive approach that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and behaviors observed by the research location of SMPN 16 Solok Selatan. With observation techniques, interviews by looking for complete and in-depth information and Documentation Studies. Data analysis techniques through observation, interviews and documentation studies. The results of this study show the role of parents to improve learning achievement in providing guidance, providing learning facilities, attention and supervision. Barriers to improving student learning achievement Family Economic Circumstances. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the provision of guidance and providing learning facilities as well as gifts and praise by parents to improve student learning achievement in the subject of Civic Education (Civics) class VIII SMPN 16 Solok Selatan has been carried out, therefore as parents must have a clear picture or strategy about educating and nurturing children,  directing and educating the child to learn. Providing facilities in learning is one of the supports for children in motivating them to learn. And the existence of gifts and praise is part of the motivation that can affect the level of learning of children and also the obstacles experienced by parents vary from economic difficulties and lack of understanding of parents in educating children because some parents are less educated. If the child lives in a poor family, the child's basic needs are not met and as a result, the child's health is disturbed, so the child's learning is also disrupted.
