Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of the cashier queue system at Toko Saga using the M/M/1 queuing model and QM for Windows software. Assuming customer arrivals follow a Poisson distribution and service times are exponentially distributed, the M/M/1 model is applied to calculate system performance parameters and total operational costs. Based on observations, the average customer arrival rate is 7 customers per hour, while one cashier can serve 8 customers per hour. The simulation results show a system utilization rate of 88%, with an average of 6 customers waiting in line and an average queue time of approximately 52.5 minutes. The total operational cost per hour is recorded at Rp75,658, which includes cashier wages and customer waiting costs. The probability distribution indicates that the system most frequently operates with fewer than 10 customers, and the chance of exceeding 15 customers is low. Therefore, the current cashier system is considered efficient, although additional strategies such as cashier shifts or self-service systems are recommended to ensure continued performance and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), or Usaha Kecil dan Menengah (UKM) in Indonesian, in the culinary sector, especially traditional Indonesian eateries (warung lalapan), often face production optimization challenges amidst resource limitations. This study aims to analyze the optimal production combination of chicken and duck lalapan portions to maximize daily profit at Warung Lalapan Sri Ayu. The Linear Programming method with a graphical approach was used, utilizing the warung's daily operational data. Results indicate that the optimal production is 15 portions of Duck Lalapan and 0 portions of Chicken Lalapan per day, yielding a profit of Rp 150,000 per day. Work time constraint was identified as the primary limiting factor, while the production cost constraint was non-binding. It is concluded that Warung Lalapan Sri Ayu should focus its strategy on Duck Lalapan and strive to increase work time capacity to enhance potential profits, utilizing the remaining budget for strategic development.

Abstract

The accelerated advancement of information technology requires higher education institutions, including Universitas Sepuluh Nopember Papua (USNP), to leverage data analytics in support of strategic decision-making, particularly in the management of student activity status. One of the major challenges faced is the early and accurate identification of students at risk of becoming inactive, especially in the fifth semester, which represents a critical stage of study where inactivity rates of approximately 15–22% have been identified within the Information Systems program. This study seeks to address the limited body of research that examines student status classification within the context of universities in Eastern Indonesia. Accordingly, the primary objective of this research is to examine the activity patterns of fifth-semester students through the development of a classification model based on the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm. This study adopts a quantitative research design combined with computational experimentation, utilizing a total population sample of 80 students from the 2023 Information Systems cohort. The research relies on secondary data obtained from the datasets “Mahasiswa SI 2023.xlsx” and “ipk mhs aktif sistem informasi.xlsx”. The dependent variable examined is Student Status (Active/Inactive), while the independent variables include Cumulative Grade Point Average (IPK), the number of credits successfully completed, and other relevant administrative attributes. Data preprocessing procedures consist of dataset integration, data cleaning, imputation of missing IPK values using the mean value (2.891 based on 58 observations), label encoding (Active = 1, Inactive = 0), and normalization of numerical features. The K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) classification model is developed using the Euclidean distance metric, with several K values (3, 5, and 7) evaluated to determine optimal performance. Model effectiveness is subsequently assessed using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. The results are expected to show that the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm is capable of accurately classifying student status, with Cumulative Grade Point Average (IPK) identified as a key influencing variable. This study contributes by developing a KNN-based classification model specifically designed to predict student engagement in the fifth semester, thereby providing Universitas Sepuluh Nopember Papua (USNP) with a practical, data-driven analytical tool to support early intervention initiatives and enhance the quality of academic services

Abstract

This research aims to design and implement an expert system based on the Naïve Bayes method to identify computer hardware failures in the Computer Laboratory of Universitas Sepuluh Nopember Papua. The laboratory operates approximately 40 computer units used daily by students across multiple study programs, yet is supported by only three technicians — a gap that frequently delays repairs and disrupts practical sessions. The system draws on a knowledge base covering 15 hardware failure categories and 11 observable symptoms, including failures in processors, memory/RAM, storage devices (HDD/SSD), and peripheral components such as keyboards, mice, and monitors. Development followed the Waterfall model, system design was documented using UML, the application was built with CodeIgniter, and evaluation was conducted through accuracy testing against expert diagnoses. Testing on 20 cases yielded a 75% accuracy rate, demonstrating that the system is capable of supporting technicians in accelerating the troubleshooting process, reducing dependence on manual inspection, and sustaining the quality of laboratory practice sessions for students

Abstract

School performance assessment is a crucial aspect of improving the quality of education in Indonesia. This study aims to classify school performance using the Naive Bayes method, based on the student-to-teacher ratio and other supporting variables. The dataset used includes 400 schools in various locations with attributes such as school name, location, education level, number of students, number of teachers, and student-to-teacher ratio. School performance labels are categorized into three categories: Good, Adequate, and Poor. The Naive Bayes method is applied to predict performance categories based on the relationship patterns between variables in the dataset. Experimental results show that the Naive Bayes method achieves a classification accuracy of [insert accuracy value if available], with the student-to-teacher ratio being the most significant factor in predicting performance. This study demonstrates the potential of using probabilistic-based methods to support decision-making in school evaluation and management, and provides recommendations for education policy to maintain an ideal student-to-teacher ratio.

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the daily profit of the USN Canteen by determining the most effective sales combination of its two best-selling instant beverage products, namely Jasjus and Good Day Coffee. The main problem faced by the canteen management is the reliance on conventional intuition in daily production planning, which often results in stock shortages or inefficient use of resources due to operational constraints such as raw material availability, service time, and production capacity. The methodology applied in this study is quantitative operational research using the Linear Programming approach, which is specifically solved through the Graphical Method, an optimization technique suitable for problems involving two decision variables. The results of the graphical analysis successfully transform operational constraints into linear mathematical inequalities, forming a feasible solution region. The optimal corner point obtained from the analysis indicates the most appropriate combination of Jasjus (x) and Good Day Coffee (y) to maximize daily profit. In conclusion, the implementation of this mathematical model enables canteen management to shift from an intuition-based approach to a data-driven decision-making strategy, thereby improving daily profit planning and operational efficiency.
