Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus or DM is a disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. To avoid complications, patients with type 2 DM with uncontrolled blood glucose levels require comprehensive treatment. Poor glycemic control results in changes in lipid profiles in type 2 DM patients. The purpose of this study was to prove the correlation of HbA1c levels with LDL, HDL, and Triglyceride levels in Type 2 DM patients at the Kesugihan II Cilacap Health Center. Methods: This study design was cross-sectional. Examination of HbA1c, LDL, HDL, and Triglyceride without comorbidities of Heart, Hypertension, and Stroke. The sample was Prolanis Type 2 DM patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis used for the normality test was the Shapiro-Wilk test and the nonparametric test used the Spearman test. Results: The Spearman test results between HbA1c levels and LDL levels showed a p value = 0.216, between HbA1c levels and HDL levels showed a p value = 0.123, between HbA1c levels and triglyceride levels showed a p value = 0.326. This shows that the probability is more than 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there is no correlation between HbA1c levels with LDL, HDL and triglyceride levels in Prolanis DM Type 2 patients at the Kesugihan II Cilacap Health Center.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction : Leukocytes are an important part of the immune system that plays a role in fighting infection. Adequate protein intake, including from high-protein milk such as goat's milk, is believed to support the formation and function of leukocytes in the body. The protein, vitamin, and mineral content in goat's milk is known to play a role in supporting the immune system. This study aims to determine the difference in white blood cell counts between female students who consume high-protein goat milk and those who do not. Method: This study was conducted over a period of six months, from December to May 2025, at the TLM laboratory of SMK Ma'arif NU 2 Ajibarang. The research was conducted experimentally using a post-test only control group design on 28 female students in class XI TLM SMK Ma'arif NU 2 Ajibarang who were randomly selected using simple random sampling from the entire student population of the school, then divided into two groups, namely the treatment group (consuming high-protein goat milk) and the control group (not consuming). Data were obtained from examining the number of leukocytes using a manual method with an Improved Neubauer counting chamber. Result: The results showed that the average leukocyte count in the treatment group was 7946.43 cells/micoL, whereas in the control group it was 5885.71 cells/microL. The Independent Sample T-Test yielded a p- value rather than 0.001, which shows that there is a significant difference between the two groups. Conclusion: High consumption of protein-rich milk has a significant effect on increasing the number of leukocytes, making it a viable alternative for supporting the immune system of adolescent girls.

Abstract

Triglycerides are a type of blood fat that plays an important role in energy metabolism, but excessive levels can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The examination of triglyceride levels generally requires fasting, but the optimal duration of fasting is still debatable. This study aims to analyze the differences in triglyceride levels in non-fasting conditions, 8-hour fasting, and 12-hour fasting. This study is an analytical study with a cross sectional design involving 39 students of the Bachelor of Applied Medical Laboratory Technology Study Program at Al-Irsyad University Cilacap as samples. Blood was taken in three conditions: non-fasting, 8-hour fasting, and 12-hour fasting, then examined using the GPO-PAP colorimetric enzymatic method. The analysis showed that the average triglyceride level in the non-fasting condition was 104.59 mg/dL, 8-hour fasting was 91.90 mg/dL, and 12-hour fasting was 87.08 mg/dL. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test test showed that there was a significant difference between non-fasting conditions and 8-hour fasting (p = 0.009), as well as between non-fasting and 12-hour fasting (p < 0.001). However, there was no significant difference between 8-hour fasting and 12-hour fasting (p = 0.172). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that fasting for 8 hours is enough to significantly reduce triglyceride levels, so it can be considered as the minimum feasible duration for triglyceride. Abstract

A food made from soybeans has a nutritional content in the form of protein, namely tofu. The principle of making tofu is made from white soybeans and the process is soaked in water, ground until smooth, boiled, filtered then separate the tofu dregs and filtrate (water) and added coagulants and food additives (BTP) then molded, but there are differences in the process of making tofu. Silken tofu has a soft texture and the process of making the curd is not pressed and not separated from the liquid so it resembles jelly. Yellow tofu has a yellow color from the addition of turmeric juice solution in the manufacturing process and its dense texture. Pong tofu has a distinctive feature after the manufacturing process is fried first before being packaged. To determine the differences in protein profiles, protein profile analysis was carried out using the SDS-PAGE method, for samples of silken tofu, yellow tofu and raw pong tofu. This type of research is descriptive analytical. The first analysis of total protein content with a standard curve and using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, then continued with protein profile analysis using an SDS-PAGE electrophoresis tool. Results of total protein content and protein profile Silken tofu has a total protein content of 0.63 µg/µL and 1 protein band. Yellow tofu has a total protein content of 0.79 µg/µL and 2 protein bands. Pong tofu has a total protein content of 1.10 µg/µL and 4 protein bands. The difference in the process of the three tofus can affect the protein content of tofu, which can increase or decrease

Abstract

Typhoid fever is an acute infectious disease caused by Salmonella typhi germs, mainly affecting the digestive tract with symptoms of fever for more than 7 days. In Indonesia alone, the incidence rate for this disease is estimated to be around 300-810 cases per 100,00 population per year. Tamarind leaves with flavonoid content can inhibit anti-inflammatory activity. This study aims to determine the immunomodulatory effect of tamarind leaf extract (Tamarindus indica L). Against the number and type of leukocyte cells in balb/c mice infected with Salmonella typhi bacteria. In this study using the experimental group method of Balb/c male mice. Pure form (Tamarindus indica L.) shows immunomodulatory activity such as an increase in the number and type of leukocytes. The research sample was 25 Balb/c male mice weighing 20-30 grams which were then divided into 5 treatment groups. The dose variation is 50 mg/kg BW, 75 mg/kg BW, and 100 mg/kg BW orally for 6 days. Then on day 7 was infected using Salmonella typhi bacteria. Statistical test results showed that the dose groups of 50, 75, and 100 mg/kg BW were not significantly different from the negative control (p>0.05).
