Abstract

The Biodiversity Park covering an area of ±5,800 Ha provides conservation functions in the work area of PT Tirta Investama Plant Subang and for the surrounding community which has a sloping to very steep topography. A landslide disaster occurred in the company's work area in Block II at the beginning of 2024 due to increased rainfall of 17.6 mm/hour caused by global warming. Biodiversity Park also provides the function of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by storing and absorbing CO2 by plants in the area to reduce global warming through photosynthetic activity assisted by energy from sunlight. The research method is to carry out a census inventory of mahogany plants in Block II. This research aims to determine carbon storage and CO2 uptake in mahogany plants. The research show that 412 mahogany plants can store 26,364 tonnes/ha of carbon in their stems or equivalent to an equivalent CO2 uptake of 96,755 tonnes/ha.

Abstract

Farmers often have difficulty obtaining fresh forage feed to improve animal health and productivity. The problem of animal feed is one of the successes of farmers. Erratic seasonal changes cause difficulties in providing forage availability. One way to feed dairy cows is to utilize forestry plants, namely Indigofera zollingeriana, which is resistant to environmental conditions for growth and increase the growth of dairy cows with the practice of making probiotics and silage. Indigofera zollingeriana has better content for dairy cows than grass. The aim is to increase community knowledge and skills in managing animal feed in an independent and sustainable way. The method was to provide socialization and practice then evaluated with a questionnaire with 10 questions. There were 20 participants from one farmer group. The results of this activity are that the community understands very well the material and practice, which is an average of 84.38%. Participants were dominated by men as many as 15 people while the age range that dominated was age> 50 years as many as 11 people. The gender and age of participants affect the success of increasing the growth of dairy cows.

Abstract

Abstract

The nursery phase represents a critical early space in plant cultivation, which is highly susceptible to pest and disease incidence. Mentawir Nursery, as one of the largest seedling centers in East Kalimantan, plays a strategic role in supporting reforestation programs, including for Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN). This study aims to identify and document the types of pests and diseases affecting five tropical fruit crops, as well as to analyze the incidence and severity. The five plant species observed in this study are Citrus sinensis, A. integer, Psidium guajava, Mangifera indica, and Dimocarpus longan. The research method employed is Simple Random Sampling, with observations conducted on 20 individuals from each plant species. The collected data include attack levels, symptoms, and signs of pest and disease infestations. The results indicate that four plant species experienced a 100% attack frequency, while one species had an 80% attack rate. The severity of the attacks ranged from moderate to severe. The observed disease symptoms included leaf spots, leaf blight, loss of leaf tissue, internal leaf tissue loss, leaf tumors, and leaf curling. Identified infestation signs included the presence of whiteflies (Hemiptera), larvae (Diptera), small beetles (Coleoptera), as well as larvae and pupae (Lepidoptera). These findings serve as a basis for pest and disease management at Mentawir Nursery to enhance seedling success and plant productivity.
