Abstract

Kondisi emosional seseorang turut menjadi faktor yang mempengaruhi pengambilan keputusan oleh remaja, kondisi emosional tersebut juga berkaitan dengan kematangan emosi remaja. Hal tersebut mendorong penulis untuk mengetahui Hubungan Kematangan Emosi dengan Pengambilan Keputusan Karier pada Siswa MA - SMK Pesantren Pembangunan Muhammadiyah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian ex-post facto dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa MA dan SMK Pesantren Pembangunan Muhammadiyah tahun pelajaran 2021/2022 dengan total 170 siswa dan sampel yang digunakan untuk taraf kesalahan sebesar 5% adalah 114 siswa. Peneliti menggunakan teknik non tes yaitu dengan menggunakan skala psikologi, dan teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah korelasi product moment. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan mengenai siswa MA dan SMK Pesantren Pembangunan Muhammadiyah tahun ajaran 2021/2022 yaitu terdapat hubungan yang signifikan dengan arah hubungan yang positif antara kematangan emosi dengan pengambilan keputusan karier (sig= 0,000 dan r= 0,348). Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan agar membantu konselor sekolah untuk dapat membantu siswa untuk dapat meningkatkan kematangan emosi dan pengambilan keputusan karier dengan memberikan layanan-layanan yang ada dalam bimbingan dan konseling sesuai bidang-bidang bimbingan.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using narrative texts to enhance student motivation and reading comprehension in English learning among XI IPA 1 students at MAN 1 Barru during the 2023/2024 academic year. Employing a one-group pretest and post-test design, this quantitative research systematically collects and analyzes numerical data to measure student progress. The findings reveal a significant improvement in students’ reading comprehension, as indicated by an increase in the mean score from 69.00 in the pre-test to 87.00 in the post-test. Additionally, the number of students achieving the mastery threshold (≥75) rose from 16.0% (4 students) in the pre-test to 48.0% (12 students) in the post-test. Statistical analysis confirmed that this improvement was highly significant (p = 0.000). These results indicate that learning with narrative texts effectively enhances students' reading comprehension skills, contributing to their overall English language proficiency. The findings of this study confirm that the implementation of narrative texts in reading instruction significantly improves students’ comprehension abilities. The substantial increase in post-test scores suggests that narrative texts can serve as an effective pedagogical approach to foster motivation and engagement in reading activities. Educators are encouraged to integrate narrative texts into English language instruction to optimize student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Program pelatihan bahasa Inggris berbasis LSM Moodle ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi anggota POKDARWIS dengan menggunakan platform Moodle. Moodle adalah platform pembelajaran yang mendukung pembelajaran baik secara bauran/blended maupun full online yang interaktif, fleksibel, dan dapat diakses kapan saja. Sebanyak 17 peserta mengikuti pelatihan yang terdiri dari lima tahap: sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Materi meliputi sapaan, perkenalan, deskripsi tempat wisata, etiket budaya, dan menangani keluhan wisatawan. Metode blended learning digunakan dengan kombinasi pembelajaran mandiri melalui LSM Moodle dan sesi praktik langsung. Namun selama implementasi, beberapa kendala yang dihadapi meliputi keterbatasan akses internet di beberapa titik lokasi mitra, kesenjangan keterampilan teknologi peserta, serta adaptasi terhadap metode pembelajaran baru. Dengan menyediakan materi yang dapat diakses secara offline, serta pendampingan yang intensif, hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan bahasa Inggris, dengan rata-rata skor post-test mencapai 84%, dibandingkan pre-test sebesar 43%. Selain itu, penguasaan teknologi oleh peserta meningkat, dengan 90% peserta merasa lebih percaya diri menggunakan teknologi dalam pekerjaan mereka. Program ini berhasil memperbaiki kualitas layanan wisata di Desa Bulue, meningkatkan profesionalisme anggota POKDARWIS, serta memberikan dampak ekonomi positif melalui peningkatan kunjungan wisatawan. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap pengembangan pariwisata berbasis komunitas di Desa Bulue.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the most commonly used language learning strategies among English department students at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM), assess their proficiency level based on TOEFL scores, and examine the relationship between their learning strategies and proficiency level. A correlational research design was applied, involving fourth-semester students from three study programs: English Education, English Literature, and Business English. The participants were selected through accidental sampling, focusing on students who took the TOEFL test provided by the English department's Centre for Language Services (CLS). Data collection was conducted using the SILL questionnaire and TOEFL score documentation, and analysis was performed through descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS. The findings revealed that metacognitive and social strategies were the most frequently used language learning strategies, falling within the high usage category. In terms of proficiency, students were classified at the basic user level based on their TOEFL scores. Additionally, the study found no significant correlation between students’ language learning strategies and their proficiency level, as the statistical analysis results indicated no meaningful association between the two variables.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students’ perceptions of using YouTube as a learning tool to enhance their English-speaking skills at SMKN 1 Barru. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research involved ten vocational students selected purposively from the eleventh grade. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, focusing on students’ experiences, challenges, and perceived benefits when using YouTube in English learning. The data were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach, supported by triangulation to ensure validity and credibility. The findings reveal that students perceive YouTube as a compelling, engaging, and accessible platform for improving speaking skills. The use of authentic videos helps learners enrich vocabulary, improve pronunciation, and build speaking confidence through imitation and exposure to native-like models. Moreover, YouTube fosters self-directed learning and motivation by allowing students to control their pace and learning environment. However, several challenges were also noted, such as distraction and limited internet access. The study highlights the pedagogical potential of YouTube in promoting interactive and autonomous learning, particularly in vocational education contexts where communicative competence is essential.

Abstract

English speaking skills are an essential aspect in the era of globalization. This research investigates the possibility of using the OmeTV app to enhance English-speaking abilities. Using OmeTV's live video chat, students can communicate directly with native speakers about different subjects. This study utilizes a qualitative method with a solitary case study to thoroughly examine students' experience enhancing their English speaking abilities using the OmeTV app. Information was gathered via semi-structured discussions and non-participatory observations and then examined using content analysis to uncover underlying meanings and trends. The findings of this research are anticipated to offer a more comprehensive insight into the factors that impact effective language acquisition in a digital context.

Abstract

This article aims to discover the impact of using Google Assistant in learning English for high school students in Barru, specifically in listening skills classes. To study the phenomenon and obtain in-depth information, a case study exploration was conducted. The student who has used Google Assistant in listening classes were interviewed as part of the data collection process. This study found that the use of Google Assistant routinely and regularly can have a significant impact on students' English language skills. This research also found that the presence of Google Assistant can increase motivation. In addition, the students faced some problems or challenges in using Google Assistant. The challenges are related to the technical issues such as inconsistent internet connection, and the accuracy in understanding voice command, especially when the student speak with a strong local accent. The limitations on the results of this study are due to having only one informant as a reference data.

Abstract

The development of technology has enabled language teachers to improve their learning objectives, media and systems. This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of the ELSA Speak Application to enhance EFL students’ pronunciation fluency and students' perspectives towards the use of the ELSA Speak App as mobile-assisted language learning at SMKS Kesehatan Babussalam Boddie, Pangkep. The research involved eight tenth-grade students in one experimental group. It employed pretests, a posttest, and a questionnaire for data collection. Both descriptive and inferential statistics methods were used to analyze the data. The analysis using Descriptive Statistics and the Paired Samples t-test revealed a significant improvement in students' pronunciation proficiency after the treatment. The mean score difference of -36.25 indicated a substantial increase in post-treatment scores, with a p-value of 0.000 confirming the results were statistically significant. The confidence interval of -39.96 to -32.54 further supports the effectiveness of the intervention. The study provided several recommendations for both teachers and learners to integrate mobile applications in the language classroom, especially ELSA Speak to improve English speaking skills in terms of pronunciation in the EFL context.

Abstract

The integration of technology into education is increasingly vital, yet evidence regarding its effectiveness in specific learning contexts remains limited. This study addresses that gap by examining the impact of Moodle as a Learning Management System (LMS) on students’ English learning outcomes in a boarding school setting. A quasi-experimental pretest–post-test design was employed with 70 students divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught through Moodle LMS, while the control group received instruction via conventional lectures. Data were collected through tests, observations, interviews, and documentation, and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results revealed improvement in both groups, but the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test scores, as confirmed by t-test analyses (p < 0.01). These findings demonstrate that Moodle LMS not only enhances academic performance but also promotes greater engagement, active participation, and access to structured learning resources. The study underscores the pedagogical potential of Moodle, particularly within boarding school environments, where students benefit from continuous, technology-supported interaction. The research contributes to growing evidence on the role of LMS platforms in fostering 21st-century learning and recommends their broader implementation to strengthen English language instruction and digital literacy skills.
