Abstract

The Zero Water Discharge (ZWD) technology is highly effective for efficient water usage, reducing or even eliminating wastewater discharge typically associated with shrimp farming. Used water from shrimp ponds can be treated and recycled, preventing any liquid waste from being released into the environment. By utilizing energy generated from solar panels (SP), this shrimp farming practice becomes more environmentally friendly and sustainable. Renewable natural resources, specifically sunlight, are harnessed to operate the system without increasing the carbon footprint. The objective of this initiative is to transfer the appropriate ZWD technology based on SP in shrimp farming to the community of Gampong Alue Naga, particularly Dayah Bustan Assofa. The implementation method began with the initial observation by the team of volunteers of the shrimp farming practices in the dayah, which often faced various challenges, such as foul-smelling pond water due to poor water quality. Additionally, high electricity costs also hindered shrimp farming in the dayah. To address these issues, ZWD technology based on SP was applied. The results of the initiative indicate that the implementation of SP-based ZWD technology in vaname shrimp farming in Banda Aceh proceeded as planned, without encountering any significant obstacles in the field. The partners were very supportive and enthusiastic, requesting that their area be designated as a mentoring village by FKP USK. Future recommendations include enhancing capacity in marketing, particularly digital marketing, which is beneficial for expanding the market reach of farmers, enabling them to sell their products to a wider consumer base at better prices.

Abstract

Lam Ujong Village is one of the villages in the Baitussalam sub-district of Aceh Besar Regency. The majority of people in this coastal area work as salt farmers to support their livelihoods. Despite the abundant salt production, it has not significantly increased the community's income, as salt processing is limited to selling salt directly to consumers. Processing sea salt into creative, economically valuable products has not been pursued due to a lack of innovation and skills. Sea salt is rich in minerals with great potential to be utilized as a key raw material in producing spa salts and liquid soap. This community service activity will be conducted in Lam Ujong Village in 2024, in partnership with a group of salt farmers. The project will be carried out in three stages: pre-activities (socialization and initial preparation for educational activities), main activities (training and technical guidance on producing environmentally friendly spa salt and liquid soap), and post-activities (evaluation of results). The program results demonstrated a significant improvement in the technical skills and understanding of salt farmers regarding the production process of spa salts and liquid soap. This success highlights that well-targeted technology transfer can be a key driver in the economic transformation of local communities while promoting more sustainable natural resource management. Abstract

Sea bass (Lates calcarifer) is a commercially important species with high economic value in both domestic and international markets. However, a major challenge in its aquaculture lies in the high mortality rate of fry during transport, primarily due to water quality deterioration and stress-induced responses. To mitigate these effects, the use of water-conditioning agents such as Propack tabletscomprising calcium oxide, zeolite, and clayhas been proposed. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of varying stocking densities on the survival and behavioral response of sea bass fry during 30-hour closed-system transport with Propack tablet supplementation. The experiment was conducted on May 17, 2024, at the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Syiah Kuala University, employing a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replicates: P0 (50 fish, no Propack), P1 (50 fish + 50 ppm Propack), P2 (65 fish + 50 ppm), P3 (80 fish + 50 ppm), and P4 (95 fish + 50 ppm). The fry used were 56 cm in length. ANOVA results indicated that Propack tablets significantly influenced (P 0.05) the survival rate across densities. The highest survival rate (78.5%) and best behavioral response were observed in P1, indicating the efficacy of Propack tablets at lower densities in maintaining physiological stability during transport. Keywords:Sea bassPropack tabletsDensitySurvival rate

Abstract

Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is an important aquaculture species due to its fast growth and high economic value, with feed quality being a key factor in production efficiency. This study evaluated the effects of dietary green tea (Camellia sinensis) leaf flour on growth performance, hematological parameters, and intestinal histology of Nile tilapia. A completely randomized design was applied with six dietary treatments (02.5 g/kg feed) and three replicates each. Supplementation at 1.5 g/kg produced the best growth response, with significant improvements (P 0.05) in weight gain (7.24 0.91 g), length gain (3.61 0.21 cm), and specific growth rate (2.67 0.20%/day), while feed conversion ratio, feed efficiency, and survival did not differ among treatments. Hematological values varied but remained within normal physiological ranges. Histological analysis indicated enhanced villi morphology, suggesting improved nutrient absorption. The bioactive properties of C. sinensis highlight its potential as a functional feed additive to improve tilapia growth and health, offering practical applications for sustainable aquaculture. Keywords:TilapiaGreen tea leaf flourFish growth performanceHematological parametersFeed additiveRasakan sensasi serunya bermain tanpa hambatan di situs link gacorqq, kesempatan mendapatkan jackpotnya cukup mudah dan sangat cepat.

Abstract

Freshwater shrimp of the genus Macrobrachium represent an underutilized resource in Aceh Province, Indonesia, despite the region’s rich freshwater ecosystems and the global economic value of shrimp aquaculture. This study presents the first integrative assessment of the aquaculture potential of 13 Macrobrachium species collected from 27 freshwater sites across Aceh. Species were evaluated using morphological identification, ecological field surveys, literature reviews, and key biological parameters, including egg size, larval development, salinity tolerance, and local consumption. Most species exhibited r-strategist reproductive traits and prolonged larval stages, requiring brackish or marine environments, which limited their suitability for closed freshwater systems. However, M. lanchesteri displayed abbreviated larval development and completed its life cycle in freshwater, making it a strong candidate for sustainable aquaculture. M. idae was assessed as moderately suitable due to extensive supporting literature and local use. These findings highlight both the constraints and opportunities for freshwater shrimp cultivation in Aceh, providing a foundation for future research and development in aquaculture diversification and local food security.

Abstract

The black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon Fab.) is one of Indonesia’s leading aquaculture commodities; however, its production has declined due to various factors affecting growth, such as feed quality and environmental conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of incorporating the probiotics Streptococcus thermophilus and Bacillus coagulans to shrimp feed on growth performance, feed efficiency, and molting frequency of black tiger shrimp. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with six treatments: one control (no probiotic addition) and five probiotic treatments at a dose of 15 mL/kg of feed, these treatments were as follows: A (control), B (100% S. thermophilus), C (100% B. coagulans), D (50% S. thermophilus and 50% B. coagulans), E (75% S. thermophilus and 25% B. coagulans), and F (25% S. thermophilus and 75% B. coagulans). Measured parameters included absolute body length, absolute body weight, feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific growth rate (SGR), survival rate (SR), feed efficiency (FE), and molting frequency. The results indicated that treatment with B. coagulans (Treatment C) had a significant effect on absolute weight, specific growth rate, and survival rate, but no significant effect on FCR, FE, and molting frequency. In conclusion, the addition of B. coagulans to shrimp feed shows potential in enhancing growth performance in Penaeus monodon.

Abstract

Treatment using environmentally friendly natural materials, such as Orthosiphon aristatus (cat’s whiskers) leaf extract, can inhibit the growth of Aeromonas hydrophila in Tambaqui juvenile (Colossoma macropomum). This study aimed to determine the effect of Orthosiphon aristatus leaf extract on Tambaqui juvenile infected with Aeromonas hydrophila and to identify the optimal concentration based on blood profile responses during treatment. The research was conducted from April to May 2024 at the Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Marine and Fisheries, Universitas Syiah Kuala. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, consisting of five treatments and four replications. The extract concentrations were as follows: Treatment A (control), B (2 ppt), C (3 ppt), D (4 ppt), and E (5 ppt), administered via immersion. The clinical symptoms observed after treatment indicated that the extract had a positive effect on the fish: they regained active swimming behavior, feeding response improved, red patches faded, mucus secretion decreased, and scales returned to normal. Abdominal swelling subsided, and eye conditions normalized. ANOVA results showed a significant difference in survival rate (P<0.05), with the highest survival observed in Treatment D (4 ppt), at 86.75 ± 5.31%. In conclusion, Orthosiphon aristatus leaf extract at a concentration of 4 ppt provided the best outcomes in terms of clinical symptoms, survival rate, leukocyte and erythrocyte counts, and hemoglobin levels, indicating its potential as an antibacterial agent for Tambaqui juvenile.
