Abstract

This study aims to examine the managerial leadership of school principals in enforcing teacher discipline at Islamic and public primary schools. Using a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach, this study was conducted at MIS Al-Hidayah and SDN Kampung Bulak 02 in South Tangerang. The participants consisted of 12 informants, including principals, vice principals, school committee members, and teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis, and were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model through data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the principals performed seven interrelated managerial roles: evaluator, manager, administrator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator. Both principals demonstrated exemplary leadership as the main basis for building teachers’ collective awareness of discipline. However, MIS Al-Hidayah showed a more structured discipline governance system through fingerprint attendance, weekly and monthly evaluations, integrity pacts, and direct follow-up mechanisms. In contrast, SDN Kampung Bulak 02 relied more on personal communication, collaborative discussion, manual attendance records, and direct reprimands. The study concludes that teacher discipline enforcement becomes more sustainable when exemplary leadership is supported by accurate administrative data, routine evaluation, systematic supervision, and technology-based monitoring. These findings contribute to educational leadership and school management studies by integrating leadership influence, managerial functions, and discipline governance in the context of Indonesian primary education.

Curriculum implementation in Indonesia is centered on the government but is the authority of each madrasah, because this type of curriculum implementation model, which is called top down up, is used in our country. The 2013 curriculum is now a reference that is considered effective for student behavior, so the government will implement it in all educational institutions in Indonesia, both public and private schools. Madrasah are private schools under the auspices of the department of religion, often madrasah are neglected by the government's appreciation, but we need to know that madrasah have carried out many innovations and evaluations of the 2013 curriculum. In this way the author discusses things that can be evaluated on factors that support the implementation of the curriculum 2013 at the Manahijussadat Islamic Boarding School, especially at the Manahijussadat Islamic Boarding School Madrasah Aliyah. In this research, researchers used qualitative descriptive methods with data collected using participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. This research resulted that an evaluation of curriculum implementation at the Manahijussadat Islamic boarding school was carried out covering aspects of teacher preparation, facilities and infrastructure, principal management, school environment, community and financing. Abstract

This study aims to examine the urgency and implementation of the Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS) approach in elementary science education through the integration of Islamic values as a foundational framework. The research seeks to address common challenges in science learning, such as students’ low science process skills, limited scientific literacy, and weak environmental awareness. The study employed a qualitative descriptive design with an analytical orientation. Data were collected through classroom observations, document analysis, and semi-structured interviews involving teachers and students from elementary schools implementing SETS-based learning. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to ensure analytical rigor, credibility, and validity. The results reveal that integrating Islamic values within the SETS framework enhances students’ conceptual understanding of science, science process skills, and literacy. It also strengthens students’ environmental awareness, scientific reasoning, and positive attitudes toward learning. The SETS model creates meaningful connections between science, technology, environment, and society, aligned with Islamic principles. The findings imply that SETS-based learning integrated with Islamic values can serve as a transformative pedagogical model to improve the quality of elementary science education by nurturing students’ scientific competence, environmental ethics, and spiritual awareness as integral components of holistic education.
