Abstract

Bone Bolango Regency is one of 6 districts in Gorontalo Province which has tourism potential in the form of a coastal area directly bordering Tomini Bay. One of the villages that has superior tourism potential in the form of beaches is Botutonuo Village, located in Kabila Bone District, where some people take advantage of this potential as a source of income. Unfortunately, some of the tourism potential is managed by investors, thus there are significant differences between management. For instance, the availability of amenities, investors managed their place with attractive concepts and facilities, while those managed by local communities were still traditional. This means that the benefits of tourism do not raise significant results to the community welfare, because tourists generally prefer the private sector destinations. Ideally, tourism should be managed by the community and the benefits can be distributed to improve the standard living of the community, therefore there is a need for a community-based tourism (CBT) concept. CBT focuses on empowering and developing communities to plan, implement and evaluate the results of managing existing tourism potential. Hence, this research and service is focused on exploring tourism potential and implementing CBT in tourism management in Botutonuo Village through the preparation, realization and evaluation stages by fully involving the community. The result showed the community was able to form a tourism management structure to coordinate some activities, such as preserving the underwater environment through coral reef planting and managing marine waste to make souvenirs from shells.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the utilization of tourism potential and the implementation of the Community Based Tourism (CBT) approach in tourism management in Botutonuo Village, Kabila Bone District, Bone Bolango Regency. CBT is a tourism management approach that makes the community as the main actor, so that the results or benefits of tourism activities can be used to create welfare for the surrounding community. The manifestation of CBT is the development of tourist villages that utilize the potential of natural, cultural and human resources. By using qualitative research methods, this research shows that the CBT approach has been applied to educate the public regarding community-based tourism management, including by making processed products that have economic value, preserving the underwater environment, as well as preserving Gorontalo culture involving the surrounding community. However, in the management of tourism potential, there are still conflicts between local communities and investors and the village government which hinders the progress and sustainability of tourism in Botutonuo Village. Tourism development using the CBT model has actually been carried out by the community and village government, although the results have not been optimal and still require assistance so that the long-term goal of CBT,to create prosperity for local communities can be achieved.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the Non-Cash Food Assistance Program in Gorontalo Province through an evaluation analysis of Chambers criteria and a rights-based approach. The study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The data collection techniques use data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling, involving informants from the Beneficiary Group (KPM), Companions, Social Services, and related Policy Stakeholders. The results of the study showed that as a social program and policy, it can be said to have succeeded in reducing the expenditure of beneficiaries to meet food needs. However, the results of the analysis showed that there were several shortcomings or gaps in the implementation of the program, including duplicate data on beneficiaries, a minimal assistance monitoring system, a banking system that still cannot accommodate beneficiary data as a whole, and does not have a significant effect on changes in the economy of the poor. Thus, these findings can be used as evaluation material for local governments to be able to optimize similar programs in supporting sustainable improvements in community welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate Paulo Freire's theory of education for liberation within the context of non-formal education in Indonesia. Freire's theory, emphasizing the importance of critical consciousness, dialogue, and the active role of learners in the educational process, serves as a conceptual foundation for designing emancipatory educational practices, particularly for marginalized groups. Employing a literature review method, this research examines studies relevant to Freire's ideas and their implementation in non-formal education, especially community-based approaches oriented towards community empowerment. The analysis reveals that applying Freire's critical education principles can strengthen learners' positions as subjects in the learning process and promote social transformation through contextual and participatory education. These findings recommend the development of non-formal education models that are more reflective, dialogical, and rooted in the learners' social realities, as efforts toward transformative and inclusive education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada penerapan pendidikan berbasis ekopedagogik dalam membentuk kesadaran lingkungan pada peserta didik di Sekolah Alam Bosowa. Ekopedagogik, sebagai bagian dari gerakan pendidikan lingkungan hidup, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan melalui integrasi pengetahuan dan pengalaman langsung dengan alam. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana nilai-nilai kepedulian lingkungan diterapkan dalam kegiatan intrakurikuler, ekstrakurikuler, dan kokurikuler. Kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis alam di Sekolah Alam Bosowa tidak hanya melibatkan aspek kognitif, tetapi juga afektif dan psikomotorik, sehingga peserta didik tidak hanya memahami konsep lingkungan secara teoretis, tetapi juga melalui praktik langsung. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode pendidikan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan dan karakter peduli alam pada peserta didik. Kegiatan seperti farming, outbound, dan market day digunakan untuk memberikan pengalaman langsung yang menyenangkan dan edukatif.

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative study is to analyze the implementation of the Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) during the post-COVID-19 economic recovery period. PKH is a national conditional cash transfer program aimed at supporting extremely poor households. This study is guided by the principles of adaptive social protection, namely: 1) Promoting coordination among social protection institutions and disaster management stakeholders; 2) Ensuring that the scale of the program can respond to extreme situations; 3) Targeting the most vulnerable groups affected by disasters; 4) Designing programs that strengthen the adaptive capacities of households and communities; and 5) Ensuring rapid program response in specific situations, including pandemic-related crises. Informants in this study include program beneficiaries, program facilitators, the PKH coordinator in Gorontalo City, and representatives from the Social Welfare Office. The study examines the delivery mechanism of PKH assistance through in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that: 1) The cash transfer delivery mechanism improved, changing from a quarterly to a bimonthly schedule. This was intended to provide better financial security for beneficiaries in light of increasing economic pressure; 2) The types of services provided were expanded, from previously non-cash assistance to include Non-Cash Food Assistance and Socio-Economic Empowerment Programs; 3) The program coverage was broadened to reach more beneficiaries. Despite these positive changes, problems with targeting in the forms of exclusion and inclusion errors remain exist and this can have impact on the effectiveness of the program.

Abstract

Orang tua memiliki peran sentral dalam pendidikan anak usia dini, khususnya dalam membentuk karakter, kebiasaan belajar, dan perkembangan sosial-emosional anak. Namun, masih banyak orang tua yang belum memahami pentingnya pola asuh yang sesuai dan peran pendidikan sejak dini dalam mendukung tumbuh kembang anak secara optimal. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di TK Islam Impian Makassar dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas orang tua melalui kegiatan edukasi mengenai pola asuh positif dan pentingnya pendidikan anak usia dini. Metode pelaksanaan dilaksanakan menggunakan edukasi partisipatif mencakup ceramah interaktif dan diskusi kelompok yang mendorong partisipasi aktif peserta. Materi yang disampaikan meliputi tahapan perkembangan anaki serta peran dan praktik pola asuh orang tua dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif di rumah. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman orang tua serta munculnya kesadaran akan pentingnya keterlibatan aktif dalam proses pendidikan anak. Kegiatan ini memperkuat sinergi antara sekolah dan orang tua dalam mendukung perkembangan anak secara holistik.

Abstract

Elderly individuals, defined as those aged over 60, are a vulnerable population within society. They are particularly susceptible to neglect due to declining physical and social functions, leading close family members to perceive them as burdens. Consequently, social services for the elderly are categorized into institutional and non-institutional care. The concept of community care is a form of non-institutional social service that involves community participation in addressing the issues faced by the elderly. This study aims to analyze the activities of the "LKS Orang Tua Asuh" in addressing the problem of neglected elderly individuals in North Gorontalo Regency, using the community care concept as a framework. A qualitative method with in-depth interview techniques was employed in this research. The findings reveal that the activities conducted by "LKS Orang Tua Asuh" align with a community development-based approach. These activities share key characteristics, including tailoring programs to community needs, involving staff in planning and implementation, gathering information about community needs through local engagement, and evaluating program success based on feedback from beneficiaries and the broader community. This approach has successfully mobilized community members to assist in solving the issues faced by neglected elderly individuals in North Gorontalo Regency.
