Abstract

Digital transformation driven by the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has changed the way MSMEs in Indonesia operate and compete in the market. The application of technologies such as e-commerce, big data, and analytics enables MSMEs to improve operational efficiency as well as expand their market reach. This research discusses the impact of the digital economy on MSME growth, as well as the challenges faced, such as a lack of digital literacy and limited infrastructure in rural areas. On the other hand, the Indonesian government has been working to encourage digital transformation through programs such as the National Movement for MSMEs to Go Digital, which provides access to training and technology support. In addition, collaboration between the public and private sectors plays an important role in accelerating technology adoption by MSMEs. The findings show that while the digitalization of MSMEs offers great opportunities to improve productivity and competitiveness, the adoption of these technologies is still constrained by various internal and external factors. Therefore, a holistic and collaborative approach is needed to support MSMEs in the digital transformation process. With comprehensive support, MSMEs are expected to contribute more significantly to the national economy and open up access to global markets. This conclusion shows the importance of a sustainable strategy to facilitate and support the adoption of digitalization in the MSME sector in Indonesia in order to realize inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Tugalagawu Village, Sirombu District, West Nias Regency, in response to the low technical capacity of fish farming groups and vocational school students in independently producing fish feed. Through a collaborative participatory approach, the activity aimed to enhance participants' understanding and skills in designing and producing 30% protein-based floating fish feed using local raw materials, employing the Pearson Square method. The implementation began on April 17, 2025, concurrently with the internship program for University of Nias students, and involved technical department officials, village government representatives, vocational education institutions, and the fish farming community. The activity includes lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice, from ingredient formulation, mixing, molding, to drying the feed. The results show a significant improvement in participants' technical understanding and practical skills, as well as the creation of high-quality feed products tested directly in the field. In addition to producing modules, tutorial videos, and local working units, the activity also contributed to enhanced economic self-reliance and strengthened village institutional networks. These findings underscore that capacity-building through science and technology-based community service can drive productive and sustainable transformation in the village fisheries sector.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide training to the community of Onozikho Village, West Gunungsitoli Subdistrict, Gunungsitoli City, regarding the cultivation of BSF (Black Soldier Fly) maggot as an alternative feed for catfish. This activity involved lecturers, staff, students of the Aquatic Resources Study Program, and the local community, held at the village hall. The training began with the provision of material on the potential of BSF maggot, followed by practical training on making maggot cultivation media. Lecture and discussion methods were applied to improve participants' understanding, which showed positive responses and active participation. The results of the activity showed that participants gained new knowledge and skills in maggot cultivation, which is expected to improve the family economy. BSF maggot cultivation is not only efficient in terms of animal feed costs, but also provides additional benefits in organic waste management. It is expected that this activity can continue with further mentoring to ensure the sustainability of maggot cultivation practices in the community.

Abstract

Abstract

Plastic waste pollution has become one of the most serious environmental threats to aquatic ecosystems, particularly in estuarine areas that serve as critical habitats for various fish species. This study aimed to analyze the impact of plastic waste pollution on fish populations and environmental quality in estuarine ecosystems. A quantitative descriptive approach with field survey methods was employed. Data collected included plastic waste concentrations in water and sediments, microplastic content in fish bodies, water quality parameters, and fish population structure. Ecological indices, Pearson correlation analysis, and linear regression were used to determine the relationship between plastic pollution levels and fish population dynamics. The results revealed that estuarine areas with high plastic concentrations exhibited greater microplastic accumulation in fish, lower water quality, and reduced fish diversity. Approximately 68% of the examined fish contained microplastics in their digestive tracts, with an average of 2.4 ± 0.8 particles per individual. Pearson correlation analysis indicated a strong negative relationship between plastic concentration and fish diversity index (r = −0.82; p < 0.05). Furthermore, plastic pollution caused physiological disturbances in fish and contributed to a decline in fishery catches reported by local fishermen. These findings demonstrate that plastic waste pollution has significant impacts on estuarine ecosystem health and the sustainability of fishery resources. Therefore, integrated and ecosystem-based plastic waste management strategies are urgently needed to maintain environmental quality and conserve fish populations in estuarine regions.
