Abstract

Indonesia's open-list proportional system encourages legislative candidates to cultivate personal support while retaining access to party organisations. This study examines how Abraham Sridjaja coordinated these competing demands in the DKI Jakarta II electoral district during the 2024 legislative election. With a heterogeneous urban population and overseas electorate, the constituency reveals interactions between candidate-centred campaigning and party organisation. Employing a qualitative case-study design, the research draws on in-depth interviews with the candidate and campaign, party, volunteer, community, and academic actors, supplemented by electoral records, campaign documents, media archives, regulations, and literature. Data were condensed, compared, and interpreted through Schröder's distinction between offensive and defensive political strategies and Firmanzah's political-marketing mix. The findings indicate that candidate differentiation, hybrid digital and face-to-face communication, and volunteer expansion broadened reach. Party consolidation, coordination across levels, and sustained relationships with community intermediaries helped preserve support and reinforce credibility. Product, promotion, price, and place translated strategic objectives into a coherent political offer, communication system, trust-building process, and distribution network. These elements formed a feedback system in which public engagement generated communication material, organisational networks extended and interpreted messages, and repeated contact strengthened the candidate's credibility. The study argues that electoral performance in a metropolitan constituency may depend on coordinating candidate credibility, hybrid communication, and organisational capacity rather than privileging one resource. It contributes a process-oriented explanation of how offensive expansion and defensive consolidation can be integrated through political marketing. However, its single-case and retrospective design explains perceived campaign mechanisms rather than establishing causal effects or broad generalisability.

Abstract

Mass media has a role in providing various information to the wider community. Currently, mass media information delivery can be done anytime and anywhere. However, the framing used by news presenters is important in conveying the news because a piece of news will have an influence on public perception, including in the distribution of news regarding transmissions and broadcasts of the National Capital, which is currently a hot topic. The aim of this research is to determine framing analysis in news coverage and its influence on public perceptions on the issue of moving and developing the nation's capital. This research will use a qualitative approach with a focus on framing analysis in news coverage related to the issue of movement and development of the Indonesian capital city. The research results showed that framing in news coverage of the sustainability of the transfer and development of the nation's capital had an influence on public perception. The mass media can choose points of view, language and narratives that shape perceptions of candidates, parties and the process of desire and transmission of the National Capital. So it is important to understand how the media presents important news because it influences people's perceptions of the activities desired and the ongoing relocation of the National Capital.

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines Indonesia's political and diplomatic interests in full BRICS membership, with particular attention to two underexplored dimensions: status seeking as a middle power and the potential for norm entrepreneurship in global governance reform. Indonesia declared its intention to join BRICS at the Kazan summit in October 2024 and was formally announced as a full member on 6 January 2025. Rather than interpreting accession simply as alignment against the West, the article argues that Indonesia treats BRICS as an additional, non-exclusive arena through which to pursue reform of the United Nations, the international financial architecture, multilateral trade, climate finance, and the representation of the Global South. The study adopts an interpretive qualitative case-study design informed by middle-power theory, role theory, and status-seeking theory. It analyses the 2024 Kazan and 2025 Rio de Janeiro declarations, Indonesian government statements through June 2026, and author-generated semi-structured interview material. The findings indicate that Indonesia claims four interconnected roles: representative voice of developing countries, bridgebuilder between BRICS and other institutions, advocate of strategic diversification, and promoter of reformist multilateralism. However, textual congruence between Indonesian positions and BRICS declarations should not be treated as proof of causal influence. Indonesia's substantive impact remains constrained by consensus decision-making, internal heterogeneity, and the limited institutionalization of its own BRICS initiatives. The article develops the concept of status-to-influence conversion to explain how formal membership status may, or may not, become agenda-setting capacity and concrete diplomatic outcomes

Abstract

This research examines the necessity and implementation of the Integrated Smart Maintenance System (ISMS) as a strategic solution to enhance the aircraft readiness of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) amidst the growing complexity of regional and global security challenges. The study is grounded in the fact that the current aircraft maintenance system within TNI remains reactive, fragmented, and lacks predictive capabilities supported by artificial intelligence. These limitations result in high aircraft downtime, delayed logistics support, and inefficiencies that directly affect Indonesia’s air defense credibility. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, combining in-depth interviews with TNI logistics officials, aircraft technicians, and defense industry stakeholders (PT Dirgantara Indonesia and GMF AeroAsia), along with comprehensive document analysis and literature review. The theoretical framework encompasses Regional Security Theory (Buzan & Wæver), Air Defense Theory, Maintenance Theory (Tjiptono & Diana), Information System Theory (McLeod), and strategic planning and forecasting concepts. The findings reveal fundamental weaknesses in TNI’s maintenance system, including poor data integration, the absence of predictive algorithms, limited spare parts availability, and weak coordination across services and industry. Nevertheless, SWOT analysis indicates strong opportunities for ISMS development, supported by defense modernization initiatives, national industrial readiness, and the advancement of digital technologies such as AI, IoT, and data analytics. ISMS is projected to increase aircraft readiness to 70–80%, reduce downtime, strengthen deterrence capability, and establish a digital maintenance culture within TNI.
