Abstract

In terms of public health, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a problem in Indonesia. The Aedes aegypti mosquito infected with dengue virus is the vector of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).  DHF is usually found in tropical climates, as vector characteristics are influenced by rainfall, temperature, and rapid movement. Data shows that Asia is the center of the most cases of dengue fever every year, and Indonesia is still one of the main transmission areas. In 2017, the dengue incidence rate in Pekalongan City was 1.44 cases per 10,000 population, and there were 44 confirmed cases in the Pekalongan City Health Center area, consisting of 18 males and 16 females. Therefore, this study aims to describe dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases at the health center in the east Pekalongan sub-district area in 2023, including the number of cases, age, gender, and time of occurrence of cases. This study uses a descriptive method in which secondary data on DHF patients recorded at the Noyontaan, Tondano, and Sukorejo health centers are obtained and then analyzed descriptively using the SPSS version 24 application. Based on the results of the research, the number of DHF cases at the Puskesmas of East Pekalongan Subdistrict in 2023 was quite high, as many as 49 cases, with the highest number of DHF cases found in the Tondano health center area. The number of DHF patients occurred in the adolescent age group of 10-18 years as many as 20 cases (40.8%) and 25 cases (51.0%) of males. The high number of DHF cases indicates the need for more intensive disease prevention and control efforts, especially in the adolescent age group, as well as paying attention to the increase in cases in certain months.

Abstract

Tuberculosis or TB is a type of infectious disease that is the center of world attention because it spreads very quickly and causes death. According to data from the Pekalongan Health Service, TB cases increase every year, in 2021 there were 347 cases, in 2022 there were 459 cases and in 2023 there were 505 cases. The research aims to determine the profile of TB cases, their characteristics based on age and gender and analyze the relationship between population density and the number of TB cases in Pekalongan Urban Area. The research design is an observational study on secondary data on the number of TB cases in 2021-2023 in Pekalongan Urban Areas. Using purposive sampling, the total research sample focused on four areas, namely North Pekalongan District, South Pekalongan District, East Pekalongan District and West Pekalongan District. Data collection techniques are observation and literature study. Descriptive data analysis  and inferential analysis uses the Pearson Correlation Test. The research results explain that almost every sub-district in Pekalongan Urban Areas during 2021-2023 experienced an increasing trend in the number of TB cases. Based on age, the highest trend of TB cases occurs in productive age (15-65 years) compared to children. Based on gender, the highest number of TB cases occurs in men. On the other hand, no relationship was found between population density and the number of TB cases in Pekalongan Urban Areas (p value = 0.380 > 0.05). So, integrated preventive and promotive efforts are needed from the community.

Abstract

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that has a significant impact across the country and is a major focus of treatment in primary health care. This study aims to assess the implementation of the chronic disease management program (PROLANIS) related to DM at the Kramatsari Community Health Center in Pekalongan City. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with in-depth interviews conducted with four informants: the head of the community health center, the community health center coordinator, and two program participants. Data analysis was conducted using a thematic approach based on the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, along with source triangulation to increase data validity. The findings of this study indicate that PROLANIS has successfully increased patient awareness of a healthy lifestyle, adherence to treatment, and control of blood pressure and blood sugar. However, several challenges remain, such as long queues, mobility difficulties for elderly participants, and limited access to administrative documents. Recommendations include the need for intersectoral collaboration and the provision of mobile health units to reach elderly participants. Overall, although this program has had a positive impact, improvements in infrastructure, documentation systems, and community support are needed to ensure the program's benefits are sustainable and equitable.

Abstract

Adolescence is a colorful and dynamic period, accompanied by a series of emotional upheavals that adorn the journey of a human being about to grow up. Adolescents, the largest age group in the Indonesian population structure, are the focus of attention and a strategic intervention point for human resource development. The most important step that must be taken is to increase attention to adolescent girls, because they face greater risks and are more vulnerable to the social environment. In addition to being the largest group (23% of the total population), adolescents have never received comprehensive and consistent attention. The group of adolescents who are in Islamic boarding schools or pondok environments, also known as boarding schools, are groups that often receive less attention, especially in terms of health. Reproductive health and mental health in adolescent girls are issues in Islamic boarding schools or pondok environments. Reproductive health is a state of perfect physical, cognitive, and social health, not only in the absence of disease or disorders, but also in terms of sexual and reproductive well-being. This includes the right of every individual to have a safe, satisfying, and fulfilling sexual life, as well as the right to have the ability to reproduce and the freedom to decide their own will in terms of reproduction without discrimination, pressure, or coercion. Adolescent reproductive rights are increasingly becoming an important topic to study in the modern era. This community service program aims to provide health education on reproductive health, mental health, and PHBS through "take a break" assistance. The purpose of implementing this program is for groups of students to be independent and effective in improving their health status through increased knowledge and changes in good practices, as a result of the program in the form of improving the quality of services to the community (groups of students) and scientific publications.

Abstract

Stunting is delayed growth due to poor health conditions or chronic malnutrition starting early in life. There are around 148.1 million cases of stunted children in various parts of the world. None other than that, Setono Pekalongan Village has the sharpest prevalence of stunting cases in 2023, reaching 120 children under five. The aim of the research is to find out the prevalence and nutritional status in cases of stunting in children aged 0-60 months. This research was a non-reactive descriptive study with total sampling involving all 66 children with stunting toddlers in Setono Village. Secondary data regarding the number of stunting cases in 2024 comes from the Sokorejo Community Health Center including variables of gender, age, weight and height. Descriptive data analysis supported by various literature studies. The results showed that 57.6% of stunted children were male, 62.1% of stunted children were aged 26-60 months, 56.1% of stunted children had normal weight and 89.4% of stunted children met the criteria according to status. Height per age in nutrition status is a short height category. It is hoped that the people of Setono will better understand the risk of stunting in their area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Posyandu in increasing mothers' awareness of balanced nutrition in Rowosari Village. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 13 informants, consisting of 4 mothers of young children, 8 Posyandu cadres, and 1 midwife. The results of the thematic analysis based on role theory revealed five main indicators: role expectations, role performance, role pressures, role support, and evaluation-innovation. The findings indicate that Posyandu plays a crucial role as a center for community nutrition information and education; however, it faces challenges such as low mother participation, limited Posyandu cadres, insufficient training, and inflexible education schedules. Nevertheless, the cadres demonstrated initiative through practice-based educational innovations and digital approaches. This study emphasizes that the effectiveness of Posyandu is highly dependent on cross-sectoral support, cadre capacity, and contextual and interactive educational approaches.
