Abstract

One of the problems with companies engaged in seed production is that many seeds produced are not sold quickly and expire, resulting in a decrease in physiological quality. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the physiological quality and growth of expired cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens) seeds through the invigoration technique using young corn extract (Zea mays). The research was conducted using the Non-Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with the concentration of young corn extract (K) as the treatment factor. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and followed by DMRT level of 5%. The K factor consists of 5 levels; K0 (without soaking in young corn extract), K1 (20% of young corn extract), K2 (25% of young corn extract), K3 (30% of young corn extract), and K4 (35% of young corn extract ). The results showed that the use of young corn extract for invigoration of expired cayenne pepper seed had a significantly different effect on the parameters of growth synchrony and vigor index, and had a very significant effect on the parameters of germination power, maximum growth potential, and growth speed, compared to the control treatment. These results indicate that young corn extract is capable of acting as a bio-invigorator in improving the physiological quality of expired seeds

Abstract

Pengembangan anggrek di Indonesia terkendala oleh ketersediaan bibit berkualitas dalam jumlah banyak dan waktu singkat. Permasalahan ini dapat diatasi dengan upaya perbanyakan tanaman melalui teknik kultur in vitro. dalam rangka menghasilkan plantlet dalam waktu singkat, media kultur in vitro perlu dimodifikasi dengan penambahan zat pengatur tumbuh (ZPT), seperti IAA dan BAP. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan eksplan anggrek dendrobium pada beberapa konsentrasi IAA dan BAP dalam perbanyakan kultur in vitro. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober hingga November 2023 di Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan Politeknik Negeri Jember. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Perlakuan percobaan adalah konsentrasi IAA dan BAP yang ditambahkan pada media MS yang terdiri atas empat taraf, yaitu IAA 0 ppm + BAP 0 ppm (kontrol), IAA 0 ppm + BAP 0.25 ppm, IAA 0 ppm + BAP 0.25 ppm dan IAA 0.25 ppm + BAP 0.25 ppm. Peubah pengamatan meliputi tinggi tanaman, waktu muncul tunas dan jumlah tunas. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dan DMRT. Penambahan IAA 0.25 ppm + BAP 0.25 ppm merupakan perlakuan modifikasi media MS terbaik pada subkultur anggrek dendrobium yang ditunjukkan dengan pertumbuhan tanaman yang secara nyata lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan media MS tanpa penambahan ZPT.

Abstract

Coffee production from 2020 to 2022 experienced fluctuations. In 2020, coffee production reached 762.38 thousand tons, increasing to 786.19 thousand tons in 2021, or a 3.12% rise. As coffee production increases, the amount of waste produced also rises. Coffee husks make up 48% of physical composition, consisting of 42% fruit skin and 6% bean skin. The proportion of coffee husk generated during processing is quite significant, ranging from 40-45%. Coffee husks contain 10.4% crude protein and 17.2% crude fiber. Coffee husks also contain phenolic compounds with antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Coffee husk extract can inhibit hyaluronidase, presenting potential to reduce allergies and inflammation. Given its composition and benefits, our service team has developed a cascara tea product. The active compounds in cascara include 1.8-8.56% tannins, 6.5% pectin, 1.3% caffeine, 2.6% chlorogenic acid, 1.6% caffeic acid, and 43% total anthocyanins. The community service program was conducted from June to November 2024. The target audience for the program was the Teaching Factory for Coffee Product Processing. The results showed that knowledge among technicians and students in the pre-test phase was highest (40%) in recognizing coffee waste, environmental impact, and health benefits of cascara tea, while the lowest (30%) was in cascara tea production. Post-test results showed a 100% improvement in cascara tea production skills. These results indicate that more than 70% of technicians and students understood and were able to produce cascara tea

Abstract

Studi ini membahas pembiayaan bermasalah pada produk pembiayaan tempo dengan skema balloon payment di KSPPS BMT Soko Guru Ma'arif Jepara. Faktor internal dan eksternal seperti penyelewengan dana, kurangnya pengendalian, situasi ekonomi, politik, dan alam menjadi penyebab utama permasalahan ini. Dampaknya meliputi Non Performance Financing (NPF) yang melebihi batas wajar, gangguan likuiditas dan profitabilitas BMT serta kesulitan ekonomi bagi anggota. Strategi yang telah diterapkan meliputi analisis mendalam, restrukturisasi pembiayaan, dan penagihan intensif, dengan penekanan pada langkah-langkah preventif dan kuratif. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman mendalam terkait resiko pembiayaan bermasalah dan menawarkan rekomendasi untuk mengatasinya dengan fokus pada peningkatan literasi keuangan anggota terkait skema pembiayaan tempo dengan balloon payment. Selain itu artikel ini juga membahas aspek-aspek lain dari pembiayaan mikro, termasuk dampaknya terhadap pengentasan kemiskinan, kesetaraan gender, dan inklusi sosial, serta strategi untuk menyelesaikan pembiayaan yang bermasalah di lembaga keuangan Islam.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan budidaya microgreen kepada warga perumahan Villa Bougenville Indah Antirogo Kabupaten Jember. Microgreen merupakan tanaman muda yang dapat dibudidayakan dalam waktu singkat, memiliki nilai gizi tinggi, dan tidak memerlukan lahan luas, sehingga sangat sesuai untuk diterapkan di lingkungan perumahan. Metode kegiatan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan teknis budidaya, pendampingan praktik, serta evaluasi hasil. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dari warga dan keberhasilan dalam membudidayakan mikrogreen secara mandiri. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini, diharapkan masyarakat mampu memenuhi sebagian kebutuhan pangan bergizi secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan

Abstract

The decline in physiological quality of expired watermelon seeds poses a serious challenge in horticultural cultivation. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of seed priming using young coconut water on the viability and vigor of both expired and non-expired watermelon seeds. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: coconut water concentrations (0%, 30%, 50%, and 70%) and seed age (one-year expired and non-expired), each with three replications. Observed parameters included germination rate, maximum growth potential, germination speed, and uniformity. The results showed that soaking in 50% coconut water for 4 hours produced the best outcomes across all parameters for both expired and non-expired seeds. Germination rate of expired seeds increased from 78% to 93.3%, and maximum growth potential, growth speed, as well as growth uniformity improved significantly. These findings indicate that coconut water at an optimal concentration functions effectively as a biopriming agent in revitalizing the physiological quality of expired watermelon seeds.
