Abstract

Science teaching aids (props, experimental equipment) are tools used to teach students something so that they can learn something in their subject. Based on the community service results obtained, it can be concluded that the response from alumni of the Science Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics, Makassar State University regarding 1) Understanding teaching aids, namely 88.2%, strongly agreed, and the other 11.8% answered agree.  2) 76.5% of the tools used to make the props strongly agreed and the other 23.5% answered agree. 3) Responses regarding various types of props were 76.5% strongly agree, and the other 23.5% answered agree.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between project-based learning activities and students' attitudes in the subject of matter and energy. This study is a descriptive correlative study with a quantitative approach. The population of the study was all students of the subject of matter and energy in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year in the Science Education Study Program, FMIPA UNM. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling. The data collection technique was carried out using an observation sheet of project-based learning activities and student attitudes that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to determine the correlation between student activities and attitudes in the subject of matter and energy. The results of the study showed that: 1) The level of project-based learning activities of Regular A class students was 78.04 in the high category, Regular B class was 75.05 in the high category, and ICP class was 78.13 in the high category. 2) The attitude level of Regular A class students is 73.28 in the high category, Regular B class is 75.14 in the high category, and ICP class is 75.00 in the high category. 3) There is a very strong and significant correlation between project-based learning activities and student attitudes in the three classes studied (correlation coefficient > 0.81). This study confirms that increasing activity in project-based learning has a positive effect on the formation of student attitudes that support the learning process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi hasil belajar peserta didik pada matakuliah Filsafat Sains yang menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis studi kasus. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari tiga kelas, yaitu kelas reguler A, kelas reguler B, dan kelas ICP, yang merupakan mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan IPA angkatan 2024 di Universitas Negeri Makassar. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes tertulis untuk mengukur pencapaian kompetensi kognitif dan lembar observasi untuk menilai keterampilan serta partisipasi mahasiswa selama proses pembelajaran. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah statistik deskriptif, mencakup perhitungan nilai rata-rata, median, nilai tertinggi, nilai terendah, dan standar deviasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai presentasi studi kasus mahasiswa pada ketiga kelas cukup baik dengan rata-rata di atas 90 untuk kelas ICP dan Reg B, serta 92 untuk kelas Reg A. Nilai akhir mahasiswa juga menunjukkan performa yang baik dengan rata-rata masing-masing kelas: ICP sebesar 91,17 Reg B sebesar 91,44 dan Reg A sebesar 92,67. Variasi nilai pada aspek studi kasus (proyek) lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai akhir, dengan standar deviasi masing-masing kelas ICP 6,12 Reg B 4,26 dan Reg A 4,97, yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengerjakan tugas proyek.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of junior high school students towards the implementation of the independent curriculum in science subjects. This research uses descriptive statistics. The research subjects consisted of 58 students in two junior high schools, namely SMPN 2 Pattalassang and SMPN 3 Makassar. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistics by calculating the percentage of each indicator. The results showed that the majority of students had a positive perception of science learning in the Merdeka Curriculum, with 53.5% of students stating Agree (36.1%) and Strongly Agree (17.4%). The most prominent indicator is “Science teachers facilitate active discussion and question and answer” with a total of 77.6% positive responses, followed by “Science assessment includes practice” (72.5%) and “Teacher feedback helps how to learn” (65.6%). However, motivation to explore science outside of school hours is still low. Positive responses totaled 29.3%, neutral responses totaled 41.7%, and negative responses totaled 4.8%.

Abstract

This study is a literature review aimed at systematically analyzing previous research findings related to science literacy and digital literacy among junior high school students in the context of science education. The method used is a literature review focusing on science literacy and digital literacy. A total of 20 relevant articles and scientific journals indexed in reputable databases were collected and analyzed to derive recommendations related to the literature review. The findings indicate that the level of science literacy among junior high school students in science education is generally low to moderate, while digital literacy shows better results, ranging from moderate to high. This study concludes that the development of integrated science education with strengthened science and digital literacy is essential to enhance students' competencies in addressing the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to describe student perceptions of case study-based philosophy of science learning in developing understanding of the concepts of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. The research method used was a descriptive survey with a Likert scale questionnaire instrument distributed to students participating in the Philosophy of Science course in 3 classes (Regular A, Regular B, ICP). The data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the percentage and average of student responses on each indicator. Qualitative analysis was carried out on open answers based on students' impressions and messages. The results showed that the majority of students gave positive responses, with the percentage of “agree” and “strongly agree” answers reaching 92.12%, while the neutral response was 7.28% and the negative response was only 0.60%. Qualitative analysis showed that students were very enthusiastic and felt helped by the varied learning methods and intensive lecturer guidance, although they expected a longer duration of presentations and group discussions to deepen understanding. This finding shows that the case study approach is very acceptable to students and is considered capable of helping them understand the basic concepts of philosophy of science in a more applicable manner. This research is descriptive in nature so it has not been able to test the effectiveness directly, so further research with an experimental design is recommended.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to help street children in the city of Makassar acquire productive skills through basic entrepreneurship training. The community service activities are carried out at the Science Education Study Program, FMIPA UNM. The method of implementing community service activities for basic entrepreneurship training for street children in the city of Makassar is conducted. The result of the community service activities is the creation of productive skills in entrepreneurship both before and after the training. It is hoped that this community service will help children improve their production skills, especially in helping them become better entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk membantu anak-anak yang terlantar di jalanan kota Makassar memperoleh keterampilan produktif dalam pembuatan mini project lampu Hias. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dalam dua tahap. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dibagi menjadi dua tahapan yang pertama adalah pengenalan mini project sains berbasis fisika lampu hias, tahapan kedua yaitu pelatihan pembuatan lampu hias terhadap anak-anak jalanan di kota Makassar. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan adalah terciptanya keterampilan produktivitas dalam pembuatan lampu hias, baik sebelum dan sesudah. Diharapkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini akan membantu anak-anak meningkatkan keterampilan produksi mereka, terutama dalam membuat mini project lampu hias, dan juga membantu mereka menjadi lebih baik dalam berwirausaha.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid, reliable, and practical project assessment sheet instrument for the Substances and Energy course using the ADDIE model. The instrument was developed through the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The content validity of the instrument was tested using Aiken's V formula with two expert validators and resulted in an average value of 0.913, indicating very high validity. Instrument reliability was tested using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient with a value of 0.95, indicating very high internal consistency. The practicality test of the instrument through student responses showed an average score above 4.0 on a scale of 1-5, with the percentage of positive responses of “Agree” and “Strongly Agree” reaching almost 60%, indicating that the instrument is easy to understand and use and is able to motivate students in project work. Although there is some room for improvement, this instrument is well received by students and lecturers and is suitable for use as a project-based learning evaluation tool in the Substance and Energy course.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the Critical Thinking Skills of Students on Indicators of Concluding and Providing Further Explanation. The population in this study were all students in grade VIII of SMP SMPN 17 Makassar, totaling 290 students and spread across 10 different classes. This research is a descriptive correlative study with a quantitative approach. Sampling was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The sampling technique in this study was to use a saturated sampling technique so the total sample in this study was 290 students. The data were then processed by descriptive statistical analysis with normality test, significance test, mean, median, mode, standard deviation, and coefficient of determination. This study uses the Pearson correlation technique. The results show that there is a very low correlation between critical thinking skills in giving simple explanations and building basic skills categorized as very low with a value of 0.17.
