Abstract

The creative industry holds significant potential in providing economic opportunities, especially for children with special needs (CSN), who often face limitations in independently utilizing their skills after graduating from school. A community service program at SLB 1 Payakumbuh aims to empower CSN through training in creative skills, managerial reinforcement, and product marketing. Using a practice-based approach, this training includes crafting production, graphic design, and introducing digital marketing platforms. The results indicate an improvement in technical skills and self-confidence, enabling CSN to produce high-quality products with competitive market value. Nevertheless, challenges remain, particularly in accessing capital, equipment, and business network support. This program also seeks to connect CSN with local communities and business actors to foster collaborations that support the sustainability of their creative enterprises. Through entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and adequate facilities, CSN are expected to contribute independently to the creative economy while inspiring other communities to empower similar potential.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the reading difficulties experienced by second-grade elementary school students and identify effective teaching strategies to help overcome these issues. The subjects of the study include students who struggle with blending syllables, students who do not recognize letters, and students who stutter while spelling. The method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results show that the use of phonics methods, syllable-blending exercises, interactive letter recognition, and a gradual approach to spelling successfully improved students' reading skills. However, challenges such as differences in students' abilities and limited instructional time remain obstacles. This study highlights the importance of collaboration between teachers, parents, and students in addressing children's reading difficulties

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of parenting styles on the learning motivation of students with learning difficulties. The research subject is a fourth-grade male student who has experienced learning difficulties and has repeated a grade twice. His parents work as market traders, limiting their ability to provide supervision and academic support at home. This lack of parental involvement negatively impacts the child’s learning motivation, leading to frequent absences and low participation in academic activities. This research employs a case study method with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through observations at school and home, interviews with teachers and parents, and analysis of attendance records and academic performance. The findings indicate that permissive parenting and lack of parental supervision contribute to low learning motivation. The absence of tailored educational interventions further exacerbates the student’s academic struggles. Therefore, strategies such as tutoring programs, enhanced communication between schools and parents, and more targeted educational interventions are needed to provide better academic support for students with learning difficulties. Keywords: Parenting Style, Learning Motivation, Learning Difficulties, Special Education

The research was carried out experimentally using a single-subject design. The design used is a baseline–intervention–maintenance approach. The population in this study consists of university students selected using the purposive sampling technique, specifically three individuals who exhibit low self-regulation. The instrument used in this research is a self-regulated learning scale with high reliability and validity. The intervention will be conducted in six sessions, utilizing video media as a symbol. The results of this study showed that the intervention had an effect, with a steady increase in understanding and application that was self-regulated by the students at their university. Thus, university students’ cultural understanding contributed to improvements in self-regulated learning through increased cognitive, motivational, and behavioral knowledge. The conclusions of these findings can be used as a basis for counselors to apply and adopt this technique. Counselors can use this technique by using a group format to reach a large number of university students.
