Abstract

Gastroretentive Mucoadhesive Dosage Form (GMDF) is one type of Gastroretentive Drug Delivery System (GRDDS) technology designed to exploit the adhesiveness of dosage forms in the gastric mucosa. This aims to increase drug residence time, enhance drug solubility and absorption, and ultimately improve drug bioavailability and therapeutic effect. Various studies have explored the use of different polymers to develop GMDF systems and dosage forms. However, despite extensive research in this field, there are still limited GMDF products approved by the US FDA and INA FDA. Therefore, this review addresses the challenges in developing GMDF, its current state, and potential future opportunities. This literature review is performed by searching Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect and Google Patents using the terms “gastroretentive”, “mucoadhesive”, “challenge”, “strategy”, and “patent.” Additionally, searches were conducted in the US FDA and INA FDA Drug Approval Databases. Based on our study, we identified numerous challenges in developing GMDF, including patient physiological challenges, drug formulas, production processes, product analysis, and clinical trials. To address these challenges, multiple strategies should be developed to optimize the formulation, production process, and product analysis of GMDF, ultimately leading to successful clinical trials and regulatory approval of this product.

Abstract

Pembangkit listrik mengubah berbagai sumber energi non-listrik menjadi listrik menggunakan berbagai bahan bakar seperti minyak, batu bara, dan energi terbarukan. Jenis pembangkit listrik, seperti PLTA (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air), PLTU (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap), dan PLTGU (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Gas Uap), mencerminkan sumber energinya dan teknologi yang digunakan. PLTGU, khususnya, menggabungkan siklus Brayton (gas) dan Rankine (uap), yang meningkatkan efisiensi dan daya pembangkit, meskipun dengan kompleksitas yang lebih tinggi. Penelitian ini melalui beberapa tahap, termasuk kajian dokumen dan literatur terkait prinsip kerja PLTGU dan komponen Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). PLTGU dengan HRSG meningkatkan efisiensi energi dengan memanfaatkan sisa panas dari turbin gas untuk menggerakkan turbin uap, yang menghasilkan daya tambahan tanpa konsumsi bahan bakar ekstra. Dengan efisiensi pembangkitan listrik lebih dari 50% dan pengurangan emisi, HRSG juga berkontribusi pada pengurangan dampak lingkungan. Gas buangan dari turbin gas mengubah air menjadi uap yang kemudian digunakan secara berulang kali dalam sistem pembangkit. Oleh karena itu, pembangkit listrik berperan penting dalam infrastruktur tenaga dengan mengubah berbagai sumber energi menjadi listrik, dan PLTGU menggunakan HRSG untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan mengurangi emisi. Sinergi antara pembangkit, transmisi, dan distribusi memastikan penyediaan listrik yang efisien dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Metformin HCl is an antidiabetic drug widely used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Although its effectiveness has been proven, understanding of the impacts and side effects of Metformin HCl remains limited among students, especially those from non-health-related backgrounds. This lack of knowledge can potentially lead to misuse or careless use of the medication. Therefore, this community service activity was carried out with the aim of increasing students' understanding of the risks, side effects, and proper use of Metformin HCl as part of preventive health education. The method used involved educational outreach through simple and engaging posters, along with evaluations conducted via pre-tests and post-tests. The activity involved 20 students from various study programs at Universitas Global Jakarta. The pre-test results showed that 80% of students lacked sufficient understanding of Metformin HCl, including its function, side effects, and usage. This indicates a low level of health literacy among students, particularly those from non-health disciplines, regarding this commonly used antidiabetic medication. Following the educational session, there was a significant increase in participants’ level of understanding. The post-test results showed that 100% of students reported understanding the material presented. This improvement indicates the effectiveness of the educational method used in this community service activity. Thus, education has proven to be a strategic step in raising awareness and understanding of rational drug use among students. In conclusion, an interactive educational approach using simple visual media has been proven effective in improving student literacy regarding drug use—specifically Metformin HCl—and in fostering awareness of the importance of managing sugar intake and understanding drug side effects wisely.

Abstract

Morphine abuse as an opioid is a global public health issue due to its high-risk yet effective use as a potent analgesic. A lack of understanding about morphine can increase the potential for misuse, especially among non-health students who are often not exposed to in-depth information about its risks and benefits. Therefore, counseling on morphine is necessary to improve awareness about this drug. This community service activity aimed to increase the understanding of non-health students about morphine, focusing on its risks and benefits. The activity was conducted through interactive counseling for 20 students from the Department of Informatics Engineering at Universitas Global Jakarta, utilizing educational posters as the medium of instruction. Evaluation was performed using pre-tests and post-tests to measure participants' understanding before and after the counseling. The pre-test results showed a low initial understanding of only 37.5%. After counseling, there was a significant improvement in the students' learning, with the post-test results reaching 95%. These results demonstrate that communicative and visual educational methods are effective in bridging the knowledge gap among students from different disciplines. Counseling on morphine not only enhanced understanding of its risks and benefits but also enriched chemical literacy and public health awareness. Such education is essential for raising awareness among students about the potential risks of drug abuse. In the future, this type of counseling should be expanded to other study programs and further enhanced with more profound knowledge of health policies related to the use of high-risk drugs.

Abstract

Konsumsi kafein di kalangan mahasiswa meningkat sebagai cara untuk meningkatkan kewaspadaan dan mengatasi kelelahan. Pemahaman yang rendah tentang dampak kafein menyebabkan konsumsi yang berlebihan, yang berisiko terhadap kesehatan fisik dan mental. Penelitian ini penting untuk memberikan informasi yang jelas mengenai dampak jangka panjang konsumsi kafein, sehingga mahasiswa dapat membuat keputusan yang lebih bijak terkait pola konsumsi mereka. Tujuan kegiatan ini meningkatkan literasi kimia dan kesehatan mahasiswa terkait senyawa kafein. Kegiatan ini juga bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman mengenai efek samping yang dapat ditimbulkan oleh konsumsi kafein yang berlebihan. Sebanyak 20 mahasiswa dari Program Studi Teknik Informatika Universitas Global Jakarta menjadi peserta. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi penyampaian materi interaktif, penyebaran poster edukatif, serta pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan rendahnya pengetahuan mahasiswa tentang senyawa kafein dan efek samping yang dapat ditimbulkan akibat konsumsi berlebihan. Penyampaian materi dilakukan melalui materi interaktif, termasuk penggunaan poster edukatif dan slide PPT yang memaparkan karakteristik kafein serta efek fisiologisnya. Setelah materi disampaikan, dilakukan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pemahaman. Hasil post-test menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pengetahuan mahasiswa, dengan seluruh peserta (100%) menunjukkan pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai karakteristik kafein, efek samping, dan batas konsumsi yang aman. Kesimpulannya, pendekatan edukatif berbasis visual dan interaktif terbukti efektif dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran mahasiswa akan pentingnya konsumsi kafein yang bertanggung jawab, bahkan bagi mereka dari latar belakang non-Kesehatan.

Abstract

This paper discusses entrepreneurship among the younger generation in Malaysia. The main strategy of the agenda for national development is from the economic sector, one of which is entrepreneurship. Therefore, in several related matters, the role of the government itself is how to improve the entrepreneurial sector or known as MSMEs so that they can be encouraged to be developed for the community. With the hope that new entrepreneurs will emerge, sectors of the community's economy will be able to grow and become more established, therefore other sectors such as education and health can be properly guaranteed. The research method used in this article is qualitative using a creative economy approach. The method of extracting through the data that has been used is through structured interviews and literature study. The research results show that some of the youth in Malaysia have an interest and interest in the world of business and entrepreneurship. Thus, there is already an awareness of developing an entrepreneurial spirit. Thus, all parties are expected to become agents of change for the improvement in the economic sector and MSMEs. Through various kinds of programs carried out by the government and also the campus, thus trying to become agents to grow new entrepreneurs with special hopes, namely young people in Malaysia.

Abstract

Abstrak Minyak goreng merupakan kebutuhan pokok bagi manusia dalam pengolahan bahan makanan. Minyak goreng digunakan oleh masyarakat dalam sektor rumah tangga maupun sektor industri. Limbah minyak jelantah nasional dihasilkn sebanyak 1,2 kilo liter per tahun. Produksi limbah minyak jelantah yang tingi perlu dikendalikan dan diperhatikan. Dengan demikin diperlukan alternatif pengolahan limbah minyak jelantah. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan adalah dengan proses adsorbsi menggunakan adsorben organik berbahan kunyit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar kefektivitifan adsorben kunyit pada limbah minyak jelantah dengan penambahan proses pemanasan dan hanya perendaman untuk mengetahui kondisi dan komposisi terbaik adsorben kunyit yang dapat digunakan untuk memurnikan limbah minyak jelantah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa proses adsorbsi dengan menggunakan penambahan pemanasan lebih efektif. Pada hasil penelitian didapatkan hasil nilai bilangan peroksida sebesar 3,03 meq O2/Kg, kadar asam lemak bebas 0,42%, kadar air 0,04% pada proses pemanasan dengan suhu 70°C selama 120 menit pada ukuran partikel 150 mesh dengan jumlah adsorben15 gram. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut proses adsorbsi dengan pemanasan memiliki tingkat keefektifan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan proses perendaman tanpa pemanasan.
