Abstract

The purpose of this research article is to determine the effect of GLB and GLBB kinematics props to strengthen students’ understanding of motion in class IV SDN Kebonagung 02 Jember. The method used is quantitative with the type of pre-experimental design and the form of one group pretest posttest design. This research technique uses field research techniques with test instruments and questionnaires. Data analysis using the N-Gain test, normalization test, T test on test results and elaboration on questionnaire results. The results showed that the N-Gain test was found to be 0.60 which means the medium category and normally distributed through the normality test. Likewise, the T-test results show that after the use of props, the t value is 8.816 with sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 which means that there is a significant difference in student understanding before and after being given exposure through kinematics props. So it can be concluded that the use of kinematics props has an effect on strengthening students’ understanding of motion for grade IV students at SDN Kebonagung 02 Jember.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the fermentation process of glutinous rice into tape and its potential as a source of learning Natural Sciences (IPA) in elementary schools. The fermentation process is a real example of chemical changes that can be directly observed by students. Through a contextual approach and simple experiments, students can understand basic concepts such as microorganisms, changes in substances, and factors that influence fermentation. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the exploration show that the tape fermentation process can be used as an interesting and relevant learning media to improve the understanding of science concepts as a whole and encourage students' active involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to explain how Smart Cardboard can be used to teach students in grade 5 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah about human respiratory health. Smart cardboard media is a visual and kinesthetic-based interactive learning tool that makes students' understanding of the anatomy and features of the human respiratory system easier. The classroom action research (PTK) was conducted with two cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. 19 Mi Malik Ibrahim 5th grade students were the research subjects. The results showed that the use of smart cardboard media can improve students' concept understanding, which is indicated by an increase in learning evaluation results from pre-action to post-action. It also increases students' participation in learning and makes the class more fun. Therefore, the smart cardboard media can be used successfully as an IPAS learning innovation that can improve students' learning outcomes and increase their interest in the lesson.

Abstract

This study aims to apply pop-up book media to human senses in IPAS learning to improve the learning interest of fourth grade students of MI Malik Ibrahim Jenggawah. The background of this study shows the low interest in learning of students which has a negative impact on their academic achievement. Students who are not interested in reading and rarely do so tend to have difficulty in understanding the subject matter. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection includes observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use descriptive qualitative approach analysis. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in students' learning interest after the application of pop-up book media. After the action was carried out, students were more enthusiastic, participated and understood. The study shows that the use of pop-up book media can create a pleasant and effective atmosphere in learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the understanding of fourth grade students of SDN Kaliwates 2 Jember about the form of substances and their changes by using snakes and ladders educational game. The background of this research is the lack of interest, motivation, and learning outcomes of students on abstract science materials. The teaching model used integrates the snakes and ladders game with the question mechanics of the lesson, where students who land on a box labeled "boom" are required to answer questions from the material being taught.By integrating the snakes and ladders game with questions about the form of substances and their changes, students can learn actively. By integrating the snakes and ladders game with questions about the form of substances and their changes, students can learn actively. Thus, the snakes and ladders educational game not only serves as a medium of entertainment, but also as an effective learning tool to improve learning outcomes and active engagement of students in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how fourth-grade students at MI Al Barokah An Nur Jember use teaching aids to learn about the excretory system. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that teaching aids are crucial in helping students understand the components of the excretory system in more detail. The tools used include replicas of human excretory organs, such as the kidneys and lungs. Teaching aids serve as visual media used by teachers to attract students' attention and enhance their engagement in the learning process. They also stimulate students' motivation to learn and assist them in retaining the concepts being taught. Therefore, teaching aids have proven to be beneficial in supporting science learning in the fourth grade at MI Al Barokah An Nur Jember.

Abstract

This study seeks to explore how the surrounding environment is utilized as a learning resource in science education at elementary schools and madrasah ibtidaiyah (SD/MI). A descriptive qualitative approach is applied, with data gathered through methods such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process involves stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that utilizing the surrounding environment enhances students' understanding of science concepts, improves learning motivation, and encourages scientific inquiry. Teachers use various natural objects such as plants, water sources, and weather phenomena as learning media. However, the research also identifies several challenges, including limited time allocation and lack of teacher creativity in optimizing environmental resources. Overall, the study concludes that integrating local environmental elements into science learning makes learning experiences more contextual, meaningful, and effective for elementary students.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools requires a concrete and contextual approach so that students can understand abstract concepts such as ecosystems. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Food Chain Board media in improving the understanding of 5th grade students of SDN Kaliwates 2 about the concept of ecosystems. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the use of this learning media can increase student involvement during the learning process, help them construct food chains independently, and strengthen their understanding of the interactions between living things in the ecosystem. This media also creates a more enjoyable and interactive learning atmosphere. Thus, the Food Chain Board media is effective for use in science learning for ecosystem material.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan media Pop up book pada topik sistem tata surya kelas VI di MI Miftahul Ulum Tamanan dalam mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Pelaksanaan penelitian ini didasari oleh keterbatasan materi yang adapa pada buku siswa dan pengembangan media pembeljaran pada jenjang sekolah dasar. Media Pop up book ini dipilih karena dapat membantu siswa mengenal berbagai jenis planet-planet yang ada di sistem tata surya secara visual dan interaktif sehingga meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif mereka dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan model (ADDIE) analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas penggunaan spesimen jamur lokal sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan sekitar dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa sekolah dasar terhadap materi jamur. Materi jamur dalam pembelajaran biologi di tingkat dasar sering kali kurang diminati karena keterbatasan media yang menarik dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (quasi-experimental) tipe pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group. Dua kelas dari sekolah dasar dipilih secara purposif sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen menggunakan media spesimen jamur lokal, sementara kelompok kontrol diajar menggunakan metode konvensional tanpa media tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan sebesar 35% dalam pemahaman konsep pada kelompok eksperimen. Penggunaan spesimen jamur tidak hanya meningkatkan hasil belajar, tetapi juga minat, motivasi, dan keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran. Media ini memungkinkan pembelajaran kontekstual, mendorong keterampilan observasi, serta memperkuat sinergi antara sekolah, rumah, dan lingkungan sekitar. Kendala utama yang dihadapi adalah ketersediaan spesimen yang aman dan representatif, serta kebutuhan pelatihan guru. Solusi yang ditawarkan antara lain adalah integrasi media digital untuk melengkapi spesimen fisik. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan media berbasis lingkungan lokal secara lebih luas dalam kurikulum pendidikan dasar untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran biologi, khususnya materi jamur, serta menumbuhkan kesadaran pelestarian keanekaragaman hayati pada siswa sejak dini.
