Abstract

White snapper Lates calcarifer is one of the marine fish commodities that has important economic value. The addition of immunostimulant ingredients in feed is believed to increase immunity and increase fish growth. This study aims to determine the effect of adding β-glucan to feed on white snapper (Lates calcarifer). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments with 3 repetitions. White snapper used with a weight of ± 6 grams and a length of ± 7. The frequency of feeding is done 3 times a day. The results of the ANOVA test showed that the addition of β-glucan in the feed significantly affected the growth rate of the fry of white snapper (Lates calcarifer) (P0.05). The best treatment in this study was treatment E (commercial feed + β-glucan 8g/kg feed) which gave the best growth in White snapper where this treatment was able to increase absolute weight (4.51 ± 0.29), absolute length (4 .84 ± 0.284), specific growth rate (2.09 ± 0.15), FCR (1.00 ± 1.00), feed utilization efficiency (97.42 ± 0.50) and survival (100.00 ± 0.00).

Abstract

A 28-days trial was conducted in an aquaponics culture system to determine the effect of the different vegetable plants application on the growth performance and survival rate of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Common carp seeds were obtained from local fish farmers in Aceh Besar District. A total of 360 common carp fingerlings (size 3-5 cm) were used and placed in 12 containers with the capacity of 80 L each. The study used four treatments, namely A (control), B Kale (Ipomoea aquatica), C Lettuce (Lactuca sativa), and D Pakcoy (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis), with three replications for each treatment. The result showed that different vegetable plants' applications significantly affected (P 0.05) the absolute weight gain, absolute length gain, and survival rate of common carp fingerlings. The highest value obtained was in treatment B (Ipomoea aquatic) with an absolute weight gain of 3.93 ± 0.28 g, absolute length gain of 3.81±0.21 cm, and survival rate of 100±0.0%, while the lowest was in treatment A (control) with an absolute weight gain of 1.21±0.76 g, absolute length gain of 1.70±0.10 cm and survival rate of 91±0.86%. Water quality was also collected in this study and the parameters during rearing were still within the tolerance limits of common carp rearing. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Kale plant, Ipomoea aquatica is the most recommended vegetable plant to be co-cultured with common carp in the aquaponics system. Keywords:AquaponicsCommon CarpVegetable Plants

Abstract

Beureunut is one of the villages in Mukim Lampanah, Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar Regency. This village is close to the coast and is flowed by a river which has become an eel breeding location. The potential of Beureunut Village can be an opportunity to develop the Aquascape business. The potential in the form of small fish that can be used as ornamental fish and freshwater plants that can be obtained from rivers requires innovation so that it can be further developed so that it has added value and high selling value. This service activity aims to provide knowledge and skills about Aquascape entrepreneurship to the Beurenut village community which can become economic potential in the future. This activity will be carried out in September 2022 using the methods of counseling, training and assistance in making Aquascape. The results obtained were that the participants were very active and enthusiastic in participating in this activity and the evaluation showed a change in knowledge of up to 90% compared to before participating in this training. Therefore, it is hoped that consistent assistance and supervision is needed so that this activity can be carried out independently and become a potential income for the community in the future.

Abstract

One of Indonesia's fishery commodities that has bright prospects for development is catfish (Oreochromis niloticus) which has been known for a long time, grows relatively quickly and has a good response to its environment so it is very easy to cultivate. Fisheries statistics data from the Directorate General of Aquaculture for 2018 states that catfish production increases every year. In 2014 it was 999,695 tons, in 2015 it was 1,084,281 tons, in 2016 and 2017 it was 1,114,156 tons, catfish production reached 4,463,333 tons in the last five years. The experimental design used in this research was a randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. The treatments are: Treatment MK46 (Feeding 40% maggot and 60% commercial), Treatment MK55 (Feeding 50% maggot and 50% commercial), Treatment MK64 (Feeding 60% maggot and 40% commercial) and Treatment K (Giving 100% commercial feed). The data obtained was then analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Based on the research results, it showed that the highest length growth was in the MK55 treatment with a patini of 3.50 ± 0.10b. The highest weight growth was in the MK55 treatment with patini 4.40 ± 0.111b. The highest specific growth rate was obtained by MK55 treatment with patini 3.78 ± 0.017b. The highest feed efficiency was obtained in the MK55 treatment with patini of 77.67 ± 2.082b, while the highest survival rate was obtained in the MK46 treatment with patini of 83.33 ± 3.512a.
