Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem in the world of education that hurts the psychological, social, and academic development of students. Prevention efforts through educational socialization are important in fostering mutual awareness to create a safe and comfortable learning environment. This educational socialization aims to evaluate the effectiveness of socialization Activities to promote a non-violent school environment: Be Real Friends and Stop Bullying by involving 50 participants, consisting of teachers, lecturers, students, and students in North Sumatra Province. The method used was quantitative descriptive with instruments in the form of a questionnaire on the benefits of socialization and a test of participants' material comprehension (post-test). The results showed that all participants responded positively to the socialization activities, with 58.3% strongly agreeing and 41.7% agreeing on its benefits. Additionally, the post-test results showed an enhancement in material comprehension, where 63.6% of participants were categorized as excellent, 32.7% as good, and only 3.6% as fair. Thus, the socialization of bullying prevention education has proven to be effective in strengthening participants' awareness and understanding of the impact and strategies of bullying prevention. This program could serve as a preventive intervention model in schools and universities and was recommended for continuous implementation to strengthen an educational culture free from bullying.

Abstract

Abstract

Green beans (Phaseolus radiatus) are one of the commodity of legume plants that are generally grown on dry land, Green beans are included in plants that are tolerant of water shortages, the important thing is that the soil has enough moisture. The problem that is often faced in mung bean cultivation in dry land is the low production achieved by farmers, so it is necessary to conduct research on the resistance of mung beans (Phaseolus radiatus) to drought and the effect of watering frequency on productivity. The purpose was to determine the watering interval to the growth response of mung bean plants (Phaseolus radiatus). This study used an experimental design using a Group Random Design (RAK) consisting of 4 treatments with 3 replicas of each treatment. F0U1, F0U2, F0U3 : Control Treatment (No Watering), F1U1, F1U2, F1U3 : Watering frequency 1 (one) time a day. F2U1,F2U2, F2U3 : Watering frequency 2 (two) times a day. F3U1, F3U2, F3U3 : Watering frequency 3 (three) times a day. The parameters in calculating the growth response are the length of the plant, the number of leaves and the height of the plant. The best watering interval for plant length is watering once every 1 (one) day, where the highest plant length is 56.16 cm in the F1 treatment. The best watering interval for the number of leaves of the plant is watering (once) a day, where the average number of leaves is 13.11 leaves in the F1 treatment. The best watering interval for plant height is watering once every 1 (one) day, where the average height of the highest plant is 51.16 cm in the F1 treatment.

Abstract

Abstract. Harahap F, Siregar ARS, Idramsa, Suriani C, Edi S, Panggabean NH, Daulae AH, Pohan SD, Tanjung AA, Pertiwi SI, Kairani A. 2026. In vitro plant regeneration of Cattleya sp. from Protocorm-Like Bodies (PLBs) using coconut water and activated charcoal. Asian J Agric 10 (1): g100130. https://doi.org/10.13057/asianjagric/g100130. Cattleya sp. is an ornamental orchid whose seeds lack of endosperm, making natural germination and propagation difficult. In vitro culture using Protocorm-Like Bodies (PLBs) offers an alternative for mass propagation. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of coconut water and activated charcoal on the in vitro regeneration of Cattleya sp. PLBs. A completely randomized design was employed with varying concentrations of coconut water (0, 5, and 10%) and activated charcoal (0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 g/L). Morphological parameters observed included time to shoot emergence, number of leaves, shoots, and roots, as well as shoot color. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results showed that coconut water significantly accelerated shoot emergence with 10% of coconut water producing the fastest response (12 days after treatment). Activated charcoal enhanced shoot and leaf formation with 0.3 g/L, producing the highest number of shoot and leaf. Root formation was optimal at lower charcoal concentrations. Overall, the combination of coconut water and activated charcoal significantly influenced PLBS growth and regeneration. These findings indicate that appropriate combinations of organic additives can optimize in vitro regeneration of Cattleya sp. and support efficient orchid propagation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based Plant Tissue Culture textbook in improving the science process skills of biology students at Universitas Negeri Medan, based on evaluations from material experts and media experts. It also aims to identify the responses of lecturers and students toward the developed textbook and to assess its effectiveness in enhancing students’ science process skills in plant tissue culture material at Universitas Negeri Medan. The study was conducted from August to November 2024 in the Department of Biology, Universitas Negeri Medan. The research employed the 4D development model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. To measure the effectiveness of the developed textbook on students’ science process skills, the N-Gain test was used. The results showed that the feasibility of the PjBL-based plant tissue culture textbook in improving biology students’ science process skills, based on the assessment of material experts, obtained an average score of 76.66% (feasible), while the media experts gave an average score of 94.04% (highly feasible). The lecturers’ response reached an average percentage of 95% (highly feasible). The students’ responses were also very positive: the individual trial obtained 94.16%, the small group trial obtained 91.75%, and the large group trial obtained 90.92%, all categorized as highly feasible. Based on the N-Gain test results, the developed PjBL-based plant tissue culture textbook was found to be quite effective in improving the science process skills of biology students at Universitas Negeri Medan.
