Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang unsur-unsur kebudayaan China yang terdapat di dalam film “Over The Moon”, dimana film ini sendiri adalah film yang mengangkat tema dari beberapa unsur kebudayaan China, yaitu mitologi Dewi Chang’E dan Festival Kue Bulan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif, dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggunakan teori Semiotika dari Roland Barthes. Teknik yang digunakan untuk memperoleh hasil dari penelitian ini adalah dengan mengambil data dari film “Over The Moon” berupa cuplikan adegan dan skrip yang terdapat dalam film tersebut. Data yang terkumpul akan melewati proses identifikasi, klasifikasi, analisis, dan deskripsi. Hasil penelitian dan pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat banyak sekali unsur budaya China yang terdapat di dalam film “Over The Moon” secara langsung maupun tersirat. Unsur-unsur kebudayaan China yang terdapat dalam film “Over The Moon” meliputi banyak aspek seperti makanan, festival, mitologi atau kisah yang telah diceritakan secara turun temurun, hewan peliharaan, hiasan, dan tumbuhan. Setelah dijelaskan dengan menggunakan teori Semiotika dimana sebuah adegan dianalisis dengan klasifikasi penanda, petanda, denotasi dan konotasi, setiap adegan yang ditangkap memiliki arti yang berhubungan erat dengan unsur kebudayaan China yang luas dan beragam.

Abstract

Silk Mandarin (丝合汉语), as a Chinese language teaching organization, exemplifies the growing global interest in Mandarin. By leveraging platforms such as Instagram, Silk Mandarin actively promotes and disseminates Chinese language education internationally through visual media, including images and short videos. This research aims to investigate the role of visual rhetoric in the international dissemination of Mandarin and to analyze the types of content that are most effective in promoting Chinese language education. To achieve this, a comprehensive analysis of visual rhetoric is conducted, employing content analysis and literature review. The findings indicate that the global promotion of Mandarin is primarily facilitated through educational, cultural, and tourism-related content, predominantly conveyed through visually engaging media. Notably, linguistic messages, coded iconographic messages, and uncoded iconographic messages emerge as the primary vehicles for dissemination. Furthermore, Silk Mandarin adeptly utilizes these three forms of visual semiotic messages as integral components of its marketing strategy. This multifaceted approach not only ignites the audience's interest in learning Mandarin but also significantly influences their perceptions, encouraging them to appreciate the allure of China through the lens of an alternative image presented by the medium.

Abstract

Cross-cultural communication is a process of interaction or communication carried out by two or more cultures which is the transfer of ideas or concepts from one culture to another culture with the intention of bringing the influence of one culture to another culture and vice versa so that they can influence each other, as well as reduce the level of misunderstanding and minimize the occurrence of conflict. This research aims to reveal the forms of issues that occur in everyday life in society related to the issue of cultural differences between Indonesia and China through the perspective of Chinese people living in Indonesia. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a cross-cultural communication approach with data collected through structured interviews with the Chinese diaspora living in Makassar City. The results of the research are that there are eight (8) differences that are issues of cross-cultural communication between Indonesia and China, namely language barriers, different eating habits, different meal treat habits, different concepts of time, different pace of life, different tipping habits, different toilet habits, and different religious beliefs.

Abstract

Abstrak. Mitra program ini adalah UPTD Museum Nekara dan Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mencatat uang koin berinskripsi Mandarin yang tersimpan di Mesum Nekara Kepulauan Selayar. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan, sebanyak 83 koin berhasil teridentifikasi, yang terdiri dari 4 koin Dinasti Tang, 78 Koin Dinasti Song Utara dan 1 koin Dinasti Song Selatan. Proses Identifikasi dilakukan melalui tahapan pembersihan koin, pembacaan inskripsi, dokumentasi, pemberian nomor koleksi, pencatatan dan presentasi. Program ini mendukung pelestarian budaya lokal serta memperkaya wawasan tentang hubungan historis antara Nusantara dan Tiongkok. Koin-koin ini menunjukkan adanya interaksi budaya dan ekonomi di masa lampau. Kata Kunci: Koin Kuno, Sejarah, Tiongkok, Kepulauan Selayar, Museum Nekara

Abstract

Mandarin Chinese directional complements present a significant and well-documented challenge for Indonesian learners. This study delves into the intricacies of this grammatical aspect, aiming to identify the specific difficulties encountered by Indonesian students and to propose effective pedagogical strategies. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, beginning with a comparative linguistic analysis of complement expression in both Mandarin Chinese and Indonesian to pinpoint potential areas of linguistic interference. Subsequently, a questionnaire is administered to Indonesian students learning Mandarin to gather empirical data on their comprehension and application of directional complements. Furthermore, a detailed error analysis is conducted on student-produced language samples, focusing specifically on the use of “来/去” (lái/qù) and other directional complement structures. The findings of this study illuminate the multifaceted reasons behind the observed errors, encompassing negative transfer from the learners' first language, individual learner variables such as learning styles and aptitude, environmental factors influencing language acquisition, and the potential inadequacies of current teaching materials and methodologies. Ultimately, this research culminates in the formulation of targeted teaching suggestions and practical methods designed to mitigate these challenges and enhance the learning experience for Indonesian students striving to master Chinese directional complements.
