Abstract

The internalization of discipline is a necessary character value to follow the many regulations of a school. Students at SMA Negeri 1 Halmahera and SMA Negeri 7 in the South Halmahera Regency were surveyed for this study with the hope of encouraging them to adopt a more disciplined mindset. Qualitative research techniques were used for this analysis. Using an approach based on habituation of disciplinary values, experience, and exercises to strengthen discipline values, and exemplary application by exemplary teachers and students as role models. The results showed that SMA Negeri 1 and SMA Negeri 7 in South Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province successfully internalized disciplinary values. Students who 1) arrive at school promptly at 7.00 WIT; 2) read a short letter for 15 minutes before beginning the lesson; and 3) stay for 5 minutes after the end of class to sing the national anthem are more likely to internalize the discipline. These three activities are performed daily. The cultivation of discipline in students, particularly through adherence to established norms and programs, enables them to effectively incorporate these principles into their daily lives. Keywords: values internalization; character; students’ discipline; senior high school

Abstract

The fading of national character can be seen from the large number of people consuming drugs, the consumerist lifestyle, the practice of religious life which is only limited to formalism and symbols. The character crisis has now spread to the campus environment so that it is easy to find student attitudes and behavior that are contrary to moral values. As citizens who uphold the existence and harmony of national identity, the urgency of Pancasila values as the foundation of moral values in the life of society, nation and state needs to be implemented. Pancasila as the basis of the state and national ideology contains divine values, human values, unity values, social values and justice values. If humans are able to realize and really be able to carry out the five basic values contained in Pancasila, then the Indonesian nation can minimize the various conflicts that occur. Thus strengthening character through Pancasila values can unite the diversity of the Indonesian nation. Keywords: Character, Pancasila Values, Students

Abstract

Indonesian society is known as a nation with pluralism of religious, ethnic, cultural, and ethnic diversity. Various kinds of problems that commonly occur related to the lack of tolerance are still a concern to many parties. This is considered a threat to the nation, especially in terms of diversity in Indonesia. Many social conflicts have occurred due to the issue of inter-faith tolerance in society. In line with education, the Indonesian current curriculum, named Kurikulum Merdeka, has also been present and designed the profile of Pancasila students to develop a stronger character against the challenges of the 21st century. Global diversity is one of the dimensions for presenting respectful and tolerant life in a nation. In this research, there is a discussion about the role of higher education students in anticipating problems related to tolerance values. Therefore, the researcher made observations by collecting some data regarding on how the internalization of tolerance values was integrated into learning activities through moral dilemma discussion as an effort to strengthen the character of students at Siliwangi University, Tasikmalaya. An internalization method is a cognitive approach based on Lawrance Kohlberg's theory, considered capable of realizing one's moral reasoning so that it will become the basis of good moral judgment. Therefore, the researcher provides a description of the planning, implementation, and results of internalizing the value of tolerance through moral dilemma discussion.

Abstract

This research proposes developing an integrated project-based learning model with student character development in higher education. This approach aims to prepare students with both academic skills and strong character to face the complex demands of the real world. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research identifies a close relationship between project-based learning and student character development. The proposed learning model integrates elements of project-based learning with proven effective character development strategies. This model aims at empowering students to enhance collaboration, problem-solving, personal responsibility, self-reflection, ethics, leadership, and empathy. The novelty of this research is the importance of implementing project-based learning in learning that must be prepared by lecturers so that learning objectives are not only oriented towards student knowledge but also character building in each learning assignment. This model has to be implemented under the support of lecturers and educational institutions as well as continuous evaluation to assess its relevance and effectiveness. Through the development of this project-based learning model, educational institutions are ready for curriculum changes and students have good and positive characters to face global challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the Pancasila-based education system and curriculum in preparing Indonesia's Golden Generation to be globally competitive. This study uses a literature review method to identify the factors that support and hinder the implementation of the Pancasila-based curriculum, as well as its impact on the character building and global competencies of students. The results of the analysis indicate that the Merdeka curriculum policy, tripartite collaboration, technology utilisation, teacher training, and resource availability are the main factors that strengthen the effectiveness of the Pancasila-based education system. However, disparities in implementation between regions, limited teacher competencies, low student participation, and the challenges of digitalisation and globalisation remain obstacles that need to be overcome. This study recommends the need for synergy among all stakeholders, enhanced teacher training, and strengthened school-family-community collaboration to optimise the effectiveness of the Pancasila-based education system in order to achieve the Golden Generation 2045 with global competitiveness and strong character.

Abstract

This literature review aims to analyse the implementation of character education through the school curriculum. Character education is considered essential in shaping the morals, ethics and integrity of the younger generation. In this study, various relevant studies and literature were reviewed to understand how character education is integrated into the school curriculum and what factors influence its success. The findings show that a holistic approach that incorporates character values into all subjects and school activities is the most effective. Successful implementation also depends heavily on the readiness and commitment of teachers, as well as the support of school management and clear policies. Continuous evaluation and adaptation according to the needs and context of the school is key to ensuring the effectiveness of character education. Thus, collaboration between teachers, parents, and the community is very important in shaping students' responsible and principled character. This study helps provide insight into the importance of character education and how it can be effectively implemented in a school environment.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effectiveness of the STEAM-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving critical thinking skills among elementary school students. This research is based on the issue of low critical thinking ability in Science subjects, particularly because the STEAM approach has not yet been applied in learning. The study was conducted at 1 Pawenang Elementary School as an effort to introduce a learning model that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. The STEAM-based PjBL syntax includes formulating essential questions, designing project plans, preparing information-gathering schedules, implementing projects, monitoring activities, testing project outcomes, evaluating learning experiences, and drawing conclusions. This study used a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. The quantitative phase examined the effectiveness of STEAM in improving students’ critical thinking in Science, while the qualitative phase, through interviews and observations, identified the processes and supporting factors influencing the model’s implementation. The results showed that the STEAM-based PjBL model was effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. Statistical analysis indicated a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, meaning that the STEAM-based PjBL model had a significant positive effect on the improvement of students’ critical thinking character.
