Abstract

The agricultural sector continues to be the primary driver of rural economies in Indonesia. Despite its vital role, the rural agricultural sector often faces serious challenges in terms of adequate financing. This study examines the implementation of the syirkah agreement as an alternative financing model in the agricultural sector to enhance rural economies. Using a phenomenological approach, this research involves in-depth interviews and direct observations regarding the application of the syirkah agreement in financing a rice milling unit managed by the Farmers' Group Association (Gapoktan) in Pandan Village, Tanah Abang District, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The research findings indicate that the application of the syirkah agreement in agricultural financing has yielded significant positive impacts. It enables farmers to have easier access to capital and necessary resources for productivity enhancement while promoting active farmer participation in their agricultural business decision-making. These results underscore the crucial role of the syirkah agreement in creating a sustainable and inclusive rural economy, in line with the principles of economic justice in sharia law.

Abstract

Objective This study aims to analyze what factors can influence fiscal independence in Aceh Province, Indonesia, using annual regency and municipality data from 2010 to 2021.Design/Methodology This research uses a dynamic panel regression model with the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation method to analyze data. This method is employed to overcome the endogeneity problem and is supplemented with corroborating evidence. Results This study found that poverty negatively affects fiscal independence in Aceh. Furthermore, GRDP and the number of taxpayers positively affect fiscal independence in Aceh. This study also found that public capital expenditure positively affects Aceh's fiscal independence. Furthermore, combined with corroborating evidence, this study concludes that more than increasing the amount of public capital expenditure alone is needed to increase Aceh's fiscal independence. Improving the quality of the provision of facilities and infrastructure financed by public capital expenditure is also vital for increasing Aceh's fiscal independence.Research limitations/implications This study's significant implication underscores the importance of improving the quality of the provision of facilities and infrastructure financed by public capital expenditures to enhance regional fiscal independence, which is in contrast to conclusions in the existing literature.Novelty/Originality The state of the art of this study is, it uses a different approach to analyze the determinants of regional fiscal independence in Aceh Province, Indonesia. It employs the panel Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) method combined with corroborating evidence. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study which employs panel GMM to study fiscal independence, taking Aceh as a case study.

Abstract

Kemutug Lor Village, located on the southern slope of Mount Slamet, boasts various potentials, including livestock farming and the utilization of forest resources. One method of forest area management undertaken by the community is the development of an agrosilvopastoral model, which integrates seasonal crop cultivation with forestry and livestock activities. This community service initiative aims to enhance the community's capacity in processing odot grass into silage as high-quality animal feed. The approach utilized in this activity is asset-based community development. Goat farming and the development of the agrosilvopastoral model in the forest area, initiated by the community, serve as the foundation for this community service activity. A total of 23 individuals from the community were equipped with technical skills in silage production using odot grass as the raw material. This endeavor contributes to the utilization of abundant odot grass in Kemutug Lor and the enhancement of livestock feed management within the community. Evaluation results indicate an increase in the community's knowledge of silage production after receiving training materials. Furthermore, subsequent to the conclusion of the training activity, the community engages in periodic practice and production of silage as supplementary animal feed.

Abstract

Using a survey method, this study aimed to examine the characteristics of the land and the direction of land usage for cultivating coconuts. The land's features are described in a land map created from the overlapping findings of each land map unit, which serves as a foundation for additional study to fit the environment for growing coconut plants. According to the results of the analytics and planning of the land conservation of coconut crops in Gayo Luwes, for the crops to survive, it is vital to pay attention to soil characteristics such as temperature, rainfall, soil type, and the number of wet months. Gayo Luwes District is a coconut region in the centre of the country. Not only were the results of matching for the coconut commodity in each SST obtained by using map-based planning geographic information systems, but it was also discovered that rainfall ranged from 3100 mm/year, temperatures went from 23oC to 24oC, base saturation was in the very low to low category (3.91% -35.16%), pH H2O is classified as acidic (4.6-4.9), drainage is slightly obstructed, relatively fast and good, slopes are sloping to steep (12%-26 ) and textures with values little fine, smooth and rather rough are the limiting factors dominant. Other findings also suggest that applying organic material in garbage and compost to Red Yellow Podzolic soil in Batanghari, Jambi, increases Ca-dd and base saturation, and liming is done to raise the pH of H2O in soil units. Moderate to high levels of management can improve the slope limiting factor, such as delaying erosion, establishing a terrace, planting according to the contour, and growing covering plants. Irrigation and irrigation systems can assist in increasing the factors that limit rainfall. Keywords: Development, Coconut, Land Suitability, Gayo Lues
