Abstract

The study was aimed to identify the effectiveness of the inhibitory activity of garlic skin extract (GSE) with different concentrations on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutants, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans. The study used the Kirby-Bauer method in a completely randomized (CRD) design with five treatments (positive control, negative control, 5% GSE, 10% GSE, and 15% GSE) and three replicates. The extract was obtained through evaporation of garlic skin macerated with aquadest solvent. The data were subjected to ANOVA, continued with an Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test. The results showed that GSE concentration (minimum 5-10%) was highly significant to inhibit the growth of mastitis-causing microorganisms.

Abstract

The present study inventoried the protein-energy synchronization (PES) index of various types of grass. The study was conducted using in vitro techniques with material 5 types of grass (elephant, king, dwarf elephant, guinea, and setaria) and rumen fluid of the Friesian Holstein (FH). The PES index is calculated based on the average degradation of g protein and Kg organic matter (OM) per hour at the time of observation of 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 24th, 48th, and 72nd hours. The hourly degradation rates were analyzed by linear regression to obtain the average hourly degradation rate. The results were included in the PES index calculation formula and discussed descriptively. This study found that all five grass had almost uniform nutritional value. Regression analysis results show a different equation, but with a high coefficient of determination (> 90%) on all types of grass. The PES index obtained in elephant, king, dwarf elephant, guinea, and setaria grass are 0.72, 0.66, 0.69, 0.58, and 0.68. The study concluded that elephant grass has a PES index at a high level, while king, dwarf elephant, guinea, and setaria grass at medium level for compiling dairy rations.

Abstract

Protein is one of the nutrient components in milk that is related to product quality. The components of milk protein are divided into casein alpha-s1, beta, alpha-s2, kappa, and whey fractions such as alpha lactalbumin and beta lactoglobulin. There are no existing data of milk protein fraction in dairy cow and goats in Banyumas Regency. This study aimed to determine the profile in form of protein fractions of cow and goat milk in Banyumas. Milk sample from fifty cows and thirty dairy goats was taken by random sampling in some areas. The milk protein profile was identified by the technique of sodium dodecyl sulphate gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and protein quantity prediction by software. The data obtained were analyzed statistically by Mann-Whitney between cows and goats. The results were significantly different (p<0.05) between cows and goats in molecular weight of protein alpha-S1 casein (29.66 vs 33.37 kDa), alpha-S2 (27.76 vs 29.49 kDa), beta (24 , 48 vs 25.59 kDa) and beta lactoglobulin (15.75 vs 15.97 kDa). The quantity of casein alpha-S1 (7.88 vs 4.16 g/l), alpha-S2 (1.31 vs. 4.02 g/l), beta (8.74 vs 14.24 g/l), kappa (2.41 vs. 4.28 g/l) and alpha lactalbumin (0.91 vs 0.7 g / l) was significantly different (p <0.05) between cow's and goat's milk, respectively. In conclusion, milk protein profile of cows and goats in Banyumas Regency is different.

Abstract

Ransum berbasis indeks sinkronisasi protein-energi (SPE) merupakan pengembangan nutrisi ruminansia yang ditujukan pada optimalisasi sintesis protein mikroba (SPM). Optimalisasi SPM diupayakan dengan sinkronisasi ketersediaan ammonia dan energi melalui indeks antara 0-1. Semakin simultanya kedua senyawa tersebut diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kecernaan, produksi volatile fatty acid (VFA), dan estimasi energi yang dihasilkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menghitung estimasi produksi energi dan produk samping pada ransum berbasis indeks SPE melalui stoikiometri pembentukan VFA. Materi penelitian adalah cairan rumen kambing jawa randu yang di ambil sesaat setelah ternak dipotong. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan (Indeks ransum 0,55; 0,6; 0,65; dan 0,7) dan 4 ulangan. Estimasi energi dan produk hasil samping fermentasi dihitung berdasarkan stoikiometri pembentukan VFA. Data dianalisis dengan analisis variansi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ransum berbasis indeks SPE tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap semua variablel (estimasi energi reaktan, total produksi energi, efisiensi produksi energi, methane, energi terbuang, hidrogen, karbon dioksida, dan air). Disisi lain, penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ransum berbasis indeks SPE menghasilkan estimasi efisiensi produksi energi yang rendah, karena estimasi produksi methane yang tinggi. Hal ini disebabkan karena tingginya proporsi serat ransum, pembentukan asetat, serta H2 dan CO2.

Abstract

The study aimed to obtain a comprehensive description of the chemical quality decrease of milk adulterated with water from different sources. Experimental research was carried out at the Dairy Production Laboratory, with the main material being milk from the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Animal Science, Unsoed. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD)-factorial. Factor A was three types of milk (no adulterated milk (NA), adulterated by farm water (AFW), and adulterated by house water (AHW)). Factor B was six times of storage (0; 4; 8; 12; 16; 20 hours). There were 18 treatments, each repeated three times. Thus, there were 54 units. Milk quality was observed at controlled room temperature, namely the average temperature of Purwokerto City (300C) in the incubator. Data were analyzed for variance and further tested for linear regression. Abstract

The Andhini Lestari and Andhini Rahayu Livestock Groups are groups of smallholder breeders whose maintenance is still carried out conventionally. Poor milking sanitation and hygiene management is still a problem for this group of farms. Farmers conventionally carry out milking with a very low level of hygiene. Milking hygiene needs to be considered because it will affect udder health. Udder health affects the quality and quantity of milk produced. Unhealthy milking hygiene will cause the udder to suffer from mastitis which is very detrimental to the farmer. So, to maintain good milk quality, farmers must follow milking hygiene procedures as an implementation of Good Dairy Farming Practices. A series of activities that will be carried out are training in making disinfectant solutions and dipping teas, making milking SOPs, applying Good Dairy Farming Practices. The aim of carrying out this PKM is to form cadres of breeders in the Andhini Lestari and Andhini Rahayu groups, Karangtengah Village, Cilongok District, Banyumas and breeders in the surrounding areas; Maintaining good milk quality at the smallholder level through implementing good milking hygiene; And prevents the occurrence of mastitis in dairy cows.

Abstract

The Andini Lestari Dairy Farmers Group (ALDFG) runs traditional dairy farming. Farmer members are not able to store forage when conditions are in excess nor are they able to provide good forage substitutes during shortages. The aim of this activity is to apply feed fermentation technology in the ALDFG to increase livestock productivity through the feed. The target activity are 17 farmers. The method was socialization, counseling, making demonstration plots, and evaluation. All the results of the activities are discussed descriptively. The results of the activity showed that the demonstration plot for making fermented feed was successfully carried out with the output of fresh grass silage and fermented rice straw. The quality of livestock milks also improved after the application of fermented feed as supplementation of 40% forage in the ration. The survey results showed that 64.71% of farmers were interested, 23.53% said they were not interested, and 11.76% said they were hesitant to apply the fermented feed technology that had been given in the extension, there are 3 (17.65%) farmers who still consistently apply fermented feed. This activity concludes that the application of forage fermentation technology in ALDFG can improve the quality of milk and increase the interest 17.65% of the farmer to consistently apply the technology.

Abstract

Indonesia masih perlu meningkatkan produksi daging merah dalam negeri minimal 30% dari kondisi saat ini (60%) untuk mencapai Swasembada Daging Sapi-Kerbau pada Tahun 2026. Data produksi dan konsumsi daging per wilayah dan nasional setiap tahunnya, tersedia pada website Badan Pusat Statistik Republik Indonesia (BPS RI). Data tersebut dapat digunakan untuk meramalkan konsumsi dan produksi daging merah hingga Tahun 2026. Artikel bertujuan untuk mengkaji rasionalitas ketercapaian Swasembada Daging Sapi berdasarkan pada data yang tersedia pada website BPS RI (www.bps.go.id). Data konsumsi daging, produksi daging, dan populasi ternak dianalisis dengan analisis tren dan peramalan forcasting sederhana menggunakan Microsoft excel, sedangkan untuk data lainnya disitasi dari berbagai sumber ilmiah dan dijabarkan secara deskriptif. Konsumsi daging merah Tahun 2026 diramalkan mencapai 2,76 Kg/Kapita/Tahun dengan agregat pertumbuhan (2023-2026) sebesar 2,33%/Tahun. Populasi sapi dan kerbau Tahun 2026 diramalkan sebanyak 22.042.784ekor, dengan agregat pertumbuhan (2023-2026) sebesar 1,99%/Tahun. Produksi daging merah Tahun 2026 diramalkan sebanyak 512.087,72ton, dengan agregat pertumbuhan sebesar 0,95%/Tahun. Produksi dibandingkan dengan proyeksi jumlah konsumsi daging merah Tahun 2026 masih akan mengalami devisit hingga 280.627.667,2ton. Kajian menyimpulkan bahwa pencapaian swasembada daging merah (Sapi dan Kerbau) Tahun 2026 belum rasional, ditilik dari data yang dirilis oleh BPS. Pemerintah perlu memastikan data yang sinkron antar lembaga dan juga mengoptimalisasi program peningkatan populasi dan produksi daging melalui integrasi pengembangan balai inseminasi buatan, inseminator, dan peternak, juga mengontrol pemotongan ternak di RPH, distribusi, dan harga daging dipasaran.

Abstract

Pakan berbasis indeks sinkronisasi protein-energi (SPE) merupakan pakan yang disusun dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan mikroba rumen khususnya pada suplai energi dan N-protein, sehingga kinerja mikroba dalam rumen dapat meningkat dalam proses fermentasi pakan. Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ialah untuk mengkaji pengaruh indeks Sinkronisasi Protein Energi akan terhadap kecernaan bahan kering dan kecernaan bahan organik secara in-vitro. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan metode ekperimental secara In-vitro. Materi penelitian yang digunakan adalah cairan rumen 3 ekor Kambing Jawarandu yang diambil dari rumah potong hewan (RPH) Sokaraja, Purwokerto, segera setelah kambing dipotong. Bahan pakan yang digunakan terdiri dari rumput odot, indigofera, bungkil kelapa, onggok, dedak, ampas tahu, dan mineral mix. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah pakan dengan indeks SPE P1 (0,55), P2 (0,60), P3 (0,65), P4 (0,70), P5 (0,75). Penelitian dilaksanakan secara eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Variabel yang diukur yaitu Kecernaan Bahan Kering (KcBK) dan Kecernaan Bahan Organik (KcBO). Penelitian diuji dengan analisis variansi dan orthogonal polinomial (OP). Nilai KcBK yang didapatkan secara berurut yaitu, P1: 64,76% ± 1,95; P2: 68,17% ± 1,49; P3: 71,49% ± 1,09; P4: 69,99% ± 1,08; dan P5: 69,69% ± 2,65. Nilai KcBO secara berurut yaitu, P1: 68,62% ± 3,65; P2: 74,48% ± 0,79; P3: 80,38% ± 2,02; P4: 78,49% ± 3,39; P5: 76,16% ± 5,47. Berdasarkan hasil analisis variansi, indeks SPE berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap kecernaan bahan kering (KcBK) dan kecernaan bahan organik (KcBO) secara in-vitro. Berdasarkan uji lanjut OP indeks SPE pakan berpengaruh secara kuadratik terhadap KcBK dengan persamaan Y=-92,338 + 477,94X - 349,71X2, R2:0,58, perhitungan titik puncak P (0,683;70,95%) artinya indeks SPE yang optimum sebesar 0,683 akan menghasilkan kecernaan bahan kering sebesar 70,95%. Hasil yang sama juga pada KcBO dengan persamaan Y= 237,54 + 936,06X -690,7X2, R2:0,55, perhitungan titik puncak P (0,667;79,6%) artinya indeks SPE yang optimum sebesar 0,667 akan menghasilkan kecernaan bahan organik sebesar 79,6%. Kecernaan bahan kering dan kecernaan bahan organik secara in-vitro yang terbaik terdapat pada pakan dengan indeks SPE 0,68.

Abstract

Honey pineapple is one of the commodities widely cultivated by the community of Karangjengkol Village, Purbalingga District. The utilization of honey pineapple is still focused on the fruit, while the waste from the skin has not been optimally utilized. Pineapple skin has the potential to be further processed into silage, but the community of Karangjengkol Village has limited capacity to do so. This community service activity aims to empower women farmers through training in making silage from pineapple peel using the asset-based community development (ABCD) approach. The implementation of community service activities began with mapping local assets, designing training activities, and conducting training and practice in making silage from pineapple peel. The evaluation of the training activity was carried out by administering pre-tests and post-tests that emphasized key indicators related to silage production. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the participants' knowledge and understanding of silage production. This was demonstrated by an average increase in pre-test and post-test scores of 94 percent. These results indicate that training followed by hands-on practice can increase community capacity, particularly in terms of knowledge and skills in processing pineapple peels into silage.ABSTRAKNanas madu menjadi salah satu komoditas yang banyak dibudidayakan masyarakat Desa Karangjengkol, Kabupaten Purbalingga. Pemanfaatan nanas madu masih ditekankan pada buahnya, sedangkan limbah kulitnya belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Kulit nanas berpotensi untuk diolah lebih lanjut menjadi silase, namun masyarakat Desa Karangjengkol memiliki keterbatasan dari sisi kapasitas dalam melakukan hal ini. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan kelompok wanita tani melalui pelatihan dalam pembuatan silase dari kulit nanas dengan pendekatan asset-based community development (ABCD). Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dimulai dengan pemetaan aset lokal, perancangan kegiatan pelatihan, serta pelaksanaan pelatihan dan praktik pembuatan silase dari kulit nanas. Evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan dengan pengisian pre-test dan post-test yang menekankan pada indikator utama terkait pembuatan silase. Hasil kegiatan memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan pemahaman peserta terkait pembuatan silase. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan dengan peningkatan rata-rata skor pre-test dan post-test sebesar 94 persen. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelaksanaan pelatihan yang diikuti dengan praktik langsung dapat meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat, khususnya dari aspek pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam pengolahan kulit nanas menjadi silase.
