Abstract

In recent years, loading and unloading activities at ports have shown a significant increase in line with the growth in global and regional trade volumes. However, the surge in loading and unloading activities poses serious challenges, such as limited infrastructure, stacking capacity, operational efficiency, the need for more and more qualified human resources, and compliance with increasingly stringent regulations, in addition to environmental impacts and safety aspects that need to be considered. The purpose of this study is to identify and evaluate the main obstacles that arise due to the increase in dry bulk loading and unloading activities at PT DABN Port, as well as strategic solutions to overcome these challenges in order to ensure the smooth operation and sustainability of the port environment. The research method used is a quantitative approach by conducting a survey using key performance indicators such as loading and unloading time, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and damage rate. Primary data used comes from questionnaire answers with a total of 30 respondents, while secondary data is obtained from company reports and official port documents. This research uses descriptive analysis using validity and reliability tests using a used trial. The results showed that the performance of dry bulk loading and unloading at PT DABN Port was in the good category, but from these indicators there were still obstacles for service users. These obstacles will be an evaluation for PT DABN to improve loading and unloading performance from the aspects of equipment utility, loading and unloading time, labor productivity and the level of damage to goods and make improvements as a determinant of the success of dry bulk loading and unloading so as to increase loading and unloading efficiency.

Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing the performance of dry bulk unloading at Tanjung Tembaga Port, with a case study of PT Delta Artha Bahari Nusantara. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the performance of dry bulk loading and unloading services at the port and identify efforts that can be made to improve loading and unloading productivity. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collection through direct observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data obtained were analyzed using statistical methods and compared with the established operational service performance standards. The results showed that the performance of loading and unloading at Tanjung Copper Port seen from all indicators of loading and unloading performance can be concluded that the average of all indicators includes good category as evidenced by the total percentage of the average of 79.96%. This study concludes that to improve loading and unloading performance, PT Delta Artha Bahari Nusantara needs to improve facilities and infrastructure, improve operational systems, and provide training to the workforce. Thus, it is expected that the port can be more efficient in handling dry bulk loading and unloading and contribute positively to the supply and distribution chain.

Abstract

Fire is an event that often occurs due to human negligence. Losses from fire include damage to goods, business delays and can even cause loss of life. For early handling of fires, a "Fire Fighting Control Design Using MQ-2 Sensor and Fuzzy Logic Based 5 Channel Flame Sensor" has been created. This tool uses the MQ-2 sensor to detect gases related to fires, such as hydrocarbon gas. A 5 channel flame sensor is used to detect flames. The predetermined fuzzy logic rules will be used to control the fire extinguisher and implemented using the Arduino Atmega 2560 microcontroller as the brain of the system. Next, the microcontroller will send a control signal to the 12V DC pump output as a water spray system to deal with fires. The test results of this system show that the tool can detect early fire hotspots and respond well to fire extinguishing according to the fuzzy rule decisions carried out by testing the tool with 30 fire spots at different distances.

Abstract

Shipping companies ship agencies play an important role in representing the interests of ship owners in ports. In activities, the role of digital technology is very important to streamline and accelerate the process of managing ship crews and prospective crew documents to ensure safety, legal compliance, and smooth ship operations as necessary requirements during sailing. This study aims to determine the influence of Digital Technology in the Management of Crewchange Documents at Pt. Equinox Bahari Utama. The type of research used in this study is quantitative. This research was carried out at Sanur Port for 1 year. Pt. Equinox Bahari Utama. The population used in this study is employees of the Crewing Golar division and Cool Company Management USA, the crew of the ship who will make a crewchange with a sample of 45 respondents. The data sources in this study used primary and secondary data with data collection techniques, namely: questionnaires, observations, literature studies. The data analysis technique is the Simple Linear Regression test. The results of this study show that digital technology has a positive and significant influence on the management of crewchange documents at PT Equinox Bahari Utama. The magnitude of the positive influence of Digital Technology on the management of crewchange documents at PT Equinox Bahari Utama is 87%.

Abstract

In the operation of ships, there are a lot of jobs, both light and heavy, that have a high risk to occupational safety. Work accidents do not only occur on land, but work accidents often occur on ships. The research method used is qualitative, namely data collection through documentation, observation, and interviews with data analysis techniques using Fishbone Diagrams to determine what are the possible obstacles in the implementation of the use of personal protective equipment, factors that cause work accidents in the crew, and efforts made to optimize the implementation of occupational safety and health on board and determine the priority of problems. By using Fishbone Diagram as a data analysis technique, the root cause of the problem can be found. Based on these data analysis techniques, the causes of work accidents on ships often occur due to lack of awareness, low supervision, and lack of understanding of the crew at work. In addition, there are also other factors, namely work equipment that is not suitable for use. Work accidents can be prevented if the company's leadership and all executives are committed to developing and implementing effective occupational safety and health procedures. This includes instilling awareness of the importance of work safety, direct guidance and supervision to the crew of ships, as well as the establishment of a safety management system supported by skilled human resources and adequate safety equipment facilities. The implementation of optimal K3 procedures will create a safe and efficient work environment, so that ship operations can run smoothly and work accidents can be prevented.

Abstract

The dredging activity at Tanjung Pakis General Terminal is carried out to support the construction of the jetty and the deepening of turning basin to enhance the berthing capacity of ships. However, the actual dredger volume did not meet the meet the initial plan, potentially affecting maritime safety and security. This study aims to analyze dredging productivity and identity the factors causing discrepancies between the planned and actual dredging volumes. This study employs a mixed methods approach, combining quantitative analysis through descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis using a fishbone diagram. The research findings indicate a significant decline in dredged volume, with the total realized volume reaching only 221.619,47 m3 out of the planned 500.000 m3. The primary factors contributing to this discrepancy include administrative issues, environmental factors such as high waves, and fishing activities in the area.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Sea Toll Program, specifically Route T-26, with a focus on its outcomes and tangible benefits for the community in Fakfak Regency, West Papua. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method using statistical analysis through a paired sample t-test. Primary data were collected through field observations and interviews with relevant agencies such as the Directorate of Sea Traffic and Transportation and field implementation consultants, while secondary data were sourced from the 2024 operational report of Route T-26. Data collection techniques included field observation, primary surveys, document studies, and secondary data analysis. The findings indicate that the Sea Toll Program contributes to improving logistics distribution, lowering the prices of several key commodities, and reducing household expenditures, although statistical tests showed that the price differences were not significant. The implications highlight the need to optimize the volume and regularity of Sea Toll voyages to strengthen economic resilience in remote, outermost, underdeveloped, and border areas (3TP).

Abstract

Kegiatan perawatan pelampung suar di wilayah kerja Distrik Navigasi Tipe A Kelas I Tanjung Perak memiliki tingkat risiko kecelakaan kerja yang tinggi, mengingat aktivitas ini melibatkan pekerjaan fisik berat serta kondisi lapangan yang dinamis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis risiko kecelakaan kerja menggunakan metode Job Safety Analysis (JSA), yang berfungsi untuk mengidentifikasi potensi bahaya serta menetapkan langkah pengendalian yang sesuai. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif observasional. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi lapangan dan penyebaran kuesioner kepada 40 responden, yang dipilih berdasarkan teori Arikunto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 13 jenis potensi kecelakaan kerja selama proses perawatan pelampung suar berlangsung. Dari jumlah tersebut, 9 termasuk dalam kategori risiko tidak diinginkan dan 4 lainnya dalam kategori dapat diterima dengan kontrol. Pengendalian risiko dilakukan melalui penerapan rekayasa teknik, pendekatan administratif, penggunaan alat pelindung diri (APD), serta eliminasi bahaya langsung dari sumbernya. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa analisis risiko merupakan bagian penting dalam sistem manajemen keselamatan kerja di bidang navigasi laut.

Abstract

Cargo safety on container ships is a crucial aspect of maritime operations, especially during voyages across open waters such as the Indian Ocean, which is characterized by extreme weather conditions and high waves. A common problem encountered is cargo damage or shifting due to non-compliance with proper stowage and securing procedures. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing cargo safety during container ship voyages in the Indian Ocean. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through historical document analysis related to cargo damage incidents and direct observation of the loading, stowage, and securing processes on board. The findings indicate that severe weather conditions, suboptimal cargo stowage techniques, and low compliance with safety procedures are the main factors contributing to cargo instability. Based on these findings, the study recommends enhanced training for crew members, the use of real-time cargo monitoring technologies, and stricter enforcement of regulations concerning container securing and stowage. These measures are expected to minimize the risk of incidents and improve overall cargo safety during maritime transport.

Abstract

Perintis sea transportation is one of the government programs specifically to support 3TP regional connectivity. One of the implementation locations is in Pangkalan Ambon, Maluku Province, supported by a state subsidy budget. The results of the actualization of the program showed that several route segments were overlapping, cargo and passenger occupancy was not optimal and other technical problems. Given these problems, research was carried out to evaluate programs and efforts to optimize pioneering sea transportation. This research aims to provide modeling for measuring the effectiveness and optimization efforts carried out so that the useful value of the pilot program can increase. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive. The results of this research show that there are five indicators in selecting effectiveness, including annual frequency, total operating time, number of goods, number of passengers and ship load factor. Based on the calculations and modeling that have been carried out, of the 17 route sections, there are 4 route sections that are ineffective, 3 route sections are quite effective, and 10 route sections are effective. To increase this effectiveness, investigative efforts that can be carried out include local regional government coordination by exploring regional potential, improving supporting facilities and infrastructure and adding a team of perintis oordinators.
