Abstract

This community service activity aims to foster an entrepreneurial spirit based on socio-technopreneurship among students of SMAN 3 Unggul Sigli, Pidie Regency, Aceh. The main issue addressed is the low interest and ability of students in entrepreneurship, primarily due to limited exposure to practical and technology-relevant entrepreneurship education. Using the Service Learning (SL) approach, the activity was conducted in the form of a workshop consisting of three main sessions: material presentation, business plan preparation practice, and presentation of results. The participants included 50 students guided by a team from the Program Studi Ekonomi Islam Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Syiah Kuala and the Pusat Riset Komunikasi Pemasaran, Pariwisata, dan Ekonomi Kreatif Universitas Syiah Kuala. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of socio-technopreneurship (from 60% to 85%) and their interest in entrepreneurship (75%). Additionally, 60% of the participant groups successfully developed innovative business plans. This activity contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in creating decent work and promoting sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

The community service activity themed "Digital Literacy Education as an Effort to Build a Generation of Technology-Savvy and Independent Village Teenagers" aims to improve digital literacy among village teenagers. This activity was carried out in Beurandeh Village, Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar Regency, involving 40 teenagers as participants. The program uses a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which is divided into four phases: identification, needs determination, intervention, and evaluation. Each phase was designed to improve adolescents' understanding of digital literacy, including an understanding of digital safety, social media ethics, and productive and safe use of technology. The results showed a significant increase in adolescents' understanding and awareness of the importance of maintaining privacy and avoiding the spread of hoaxes, with an 85% increase in understanding. In addition, village officials also reported an increase in their ability to discuss digital literacy topics with teenagers, demonstrating the positive effects of the socialization. Although challenges such as lack of resources and limited parental understanding still exist, this activity is expected to have a long-term impact in building a generation of tech-savvy and independent teenagers, who are better prepared to face digital risks in the future.

Abstract

This community service project in Alue Naga Village, Banda Aceh, aimed to explore and identify its economic empowerment potential, focusing on oyster farming and ecotourism. Despite the villages rich natural resources, such as a preserved mangrove ecosystem and high-quality oysters, these remain underutilized due to limited infrastructure, poor resource management skills, and marketing challenges. The project used a Service-Learning (SL) approach, involving multiple stakeholders including local government, researchers, and community members. Key activities included socialization, education, and training for fishermen, MSMEs, women, and youth. The project delivered results of prior studies and developed sustainable strategies for local economic empowerment. The results showed significant potential for oyster farming and ecotourism development, though improvements in infrastructure and market access are needed. Villagers showed high engagement, particularly in developing processed oyster products like crackers and nuggets. Collaboration between stakeholders enabled a comprehensive approach to economic empowerment, addressing both social and environmental factors. This project offers a replicable model for other coastal villages in Indonesia, demonstrating that strategic planning, community engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential for sustainable village development. Additionally, the initiative contributed to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as No Poverty, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life Below Water, highlighting its long-term benefits for the community.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding of waqf, zakat, and infaq (WZI) management among students and lecturers of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Syiah Kuala. The activity was carried out in collaboration with Center for WAZAN University Putra Malaysia and several academic partners. Using the service learning method, the activity combined direct instruction, reflection, and interactive discussion with expert facilitators. The event took place at Center for WAZAN UPM on January 14, 2025, involving 10 participants. Results showed a significant increase in participants understanding, as demonstrated by a 46% improvement between pre-test and post-test scores. This indicates the effectiveness of collaborative and contextual approaches in strengthening WZI literacy and contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in quality education and poverty reduction.

Abstract

This research explores the relevance of Guy Debord's concept of the "society of the spectacle" in the modern era, particularly from an Islamic perspective. The study aims to assess the impact of media-driven spectacles on social reality and individual well-being, and to provide policy recommendations to mitigate their negative effects. The methodology involves a critical analysis of Debord's theory alongside Islamic teachings to draw parallels and contrasts. The findings reveal that the society of the spectacle creates a superficial reality where media and entertainment industries dominate social perceptions, leading to alienation, dissatisfaction, and a focus on appearances rather than substance. From an Islamic viewpoint, this phenomenon can be seen as a form of fitnah (temptation or trial) that diverts individuals from spiritual and moral truths. Islam criticizes behaviors such as excessive consumption (israf) and arrogance promoted by spectacles, emphasizing simplicity, humility, and the pursuit of genuine spiritual and moral well-being. The study identifies significant negative impacts of the spectacle on spiritual and moral development, including the erosion of moral values, encouragement of excessive consumption and arrogance, and a loss of deeper meaning in life. To address these issues, the research recommends policies focused on enhancing media literacy, promoting lifestyles that emphasize simplicity and sustainability, integrating spiritual and moral education into curricula, ensuring media content promotes positive values, and encouraging community-based initiatives that strengthen real social interactions and mutual support.

Abstract

This study investigates how physical evidence in Middle Eastern–themed restaurants influences revisit intention in Banda Aceh and whether Muslim customer satisfaction mediates that relationship. Motivated by the growth of halal dining and the centrality of servicescape to Muslim diners’ experiences, the research addresses limited empirical evidence in this specific cultural setting. A cross-sectional survey was administered to 300 Muslim customers who had visited at least one target restaurant; responses were captured on a five-point Likert scale using reflective indicators for physical evidence, customer satisfaction, and revisit intention. Data were analyzed with partial least squares structural equation modeling (SmartPLS 3.0) and bootstrapping. Measurement results showed strong reliability and convergent–discriminant validity across constructs. Structurally, physical evidence had a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction and revisit intention, while customer satisfaction also significantly increased revisit intention. The model explained a substantial share of variance in customer satisfaction and revisit intention, and mediation testing indicated that customer satisfaction partially carried the effect of physical evidence on revisit intention. These findings highlight that an Islamic-aligned servicescape—covering architecture and interior, Islamic visual cues, cleanliness, absence of non-sharia activities, prayer facilities, and transparent transactions—directly encourages return visits and, through enhanced satisfaction, further strengthens customers’ intentions to revisit. The study contributes context-specific evidence for halal hospitality management and suggests that operators should jointly invest in servicescape design and experience orchestration to build repeat patronage.
