Abstract

Sawi hijau (Brassica rapa var. chinensis) termasuk kelompok sayuran dari famili Brassicaceae yang umum dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Budidaya sawi hijau di Indonesia kini dilakukan menggunakan teknik konvensional dan moderen. Salah satu teknik budidaya moderen yang diterapkan pada sawi hijau adalah secara hidroponik menggunakan air sebagai media tanam. Permasalahan yang dihadapi dalam budidaya sawi hijau secara umum adalah serangan serangga hama yang mengakibatkan kerusakan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi serangga hama penyebab kerusakan pada tanaman sawi hijau hidroponik di Desa Pinang Merah Kecamatan Alam Barajo Provinsi Jambi. Penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi observasi, pengambilan sampel serangga hama, pengamatan dan pencatatan kerusakan yang disebabkan serangga hama. Sampel serangga hama diambil menggunakan teknik netting dan hand picking. Selanjutnya sampel akan diidentifikasi menggunakan buku identifikasi serangga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan serangga hama pada tanaman sawi hijau hidroponik terdiri dari 7 spesies yang berasal dari 6 famili yaitu Dictyopharidae, Chrysomelidae, Lasiocampidae, Plutellidae, Acrididae dan Formicidae. Gejala yang ditimbulkan yaitu daun layu dan menguning, daun berlubang, daun berlubang dan mengerut serta ada daun yang layu.

Abstract

Pencemaran logam berat menjadi salah satu masalah yang timbul karena banyaknya limbah industri yang mengandung logam berat. Logam berat memiliki dampak negatif bagi kesehatan manusia dan merupakan salah satu penyebab rusaknya ekosistem. Salah satu kandungan limbah industri yang sangat berbahaya bila terbuang ke lingkungan dalam konsentrasi tinggi adalah timbal (Pb) dan kromium (Cr). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis bakteri tahan logam berat timbal (Pb) pada perairan sungai driyorejo. Isolasi Bakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pour plate yang berisi media Nutrient Agar yang diperkaya Pb (NAPb) dan Nutrient Agar yang diperkaya Cr (NACr) dengan konsentrasi Pb 0,03 mg/L dan konsentrasi Cr 0,05mg/L. Hasil isolasi bakteri kemudian dikarakterisasi dengan cara mengamati morfologi koloni bakteri yang tumbuh pada media NA kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji pewarnaan gram dan diamati karakteristik mikroskopiknya dengan menggunakan mikroskop. Ditemukan 3 jenis bakteri tahan logam berat Pb dan Cr hasil isolasi dari sampel air Sungai Driyorejo yang tercemar limbah industri keramik, diduga adalah K1 (Pseudomonas pseudomallei), K2 (Pseudomonas fluorescens), dan K3 (Bacillus subtilis). Abstract

The epidermal structure and phytochemical composition of six palm species (Arecaceae) were studied to understand their anatomical characteristics and bioactive compound content. Leaf samples from phoenix palm (Phoenix roebelenii), red palm (Cyrtostachys renda), foxtail palm (Wodyetia bifurcata), fan palm (Livistona chinensis), christmas palm (Adonidia merrillii), and yellow palm (Chrysalldocarpus lutescens) were analyzed through microscopic observation and phytochemical screening. The results revealed variations in epidermal cell shape, cell wall structure, and stomatal distribution. Most species exhibited smooth-walled epidermal cells, except for red palm (C. renda), which had wavy cell walls. Stomata were predominantly tetracytic, with red palm (C. renda) and christmas palm (A. merrillii) displaying an amphistomatic distribution, while the other species were hypostomatic. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of flavonoids and saponins in all samples. Triterpenoids were detected only in phoenix palm (P. roebelenii), fan palm (L. chinensis), and yellow palm (C. lutescens). Alkaloids were found in phoenix palm (P. roebelenii) and red palm (C. renda), while steroids were present in red palm (C. renda), foxtail palm (W. bifurcata), and christmas palm (A. merrillii). Additionally, tannins were detected in all plant samples except for fan palm (L. chinensis). These findings suggest that palm leaves possess significant bioactive compounds that could be explored for pharmaceutical and industrial applications.

Abstract

Jamur tiram merupakan salah satu jenis jamur atau yang biasa dikenal dari Kingdom Fungi. Budidaya jamur tidak memerlukan teknologi tinggi, sehingga cukup sederhana. Media tanam jamur biasanya menggunakan bahan organic yang banyak dijumpai di alam yang sangat mudah ditemukan dan biayanya murah. Budidaya jamur tiram merupakan salah satu wawasan dan ketrampilan kewirausahaan (entrepreneurship) yang sangat bermanfaat bagi mahasiswa. Kegiatan pengabdian terdiri dari dua kegiatan, yaitu sosialisasi tentang budidaya jamur tiram dan diikuti dengan kegiatan pelatihan penanaman jamur tiram terhadap seluruh peserta. Peserta merupakan mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam BEM Fakultas Pertanian, Sains dan Teknologi UNARS. Dari hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa seluruh peserta mengalami peningkatan dalam pemahaman tentang budidaya jamur tiram, potensi jamur tiram dan praktik penanaman jamur tiram. Seluruh peserta memberikan respon positif dan sangat setuju bahwa program pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat karena dapat memberikan pengetahuan, pengalaman dan keterampilan baru dalam budidaya jamur tiram.

Abstract

Background: Agroforestry systems integrate agricultural production with environmental conservation, particularly in tropical regions. Although durian-based agroforestry practices have long been established in Jambi, comprehensive studies on their ecological structure, contribution to biodiversity, and sustainability strategies remain limited. This study aims to analyze the population structure of durian trees, agroforestry patterns, biodiversity, as well as the challenges and sustainability strategies of the system.  Methodology: Data were collected through vegetation analysis and in-depth interviews conducted in durian agroforestry areas in Selat, Jambi Province. Findings: The results show that agroforestry systems in this region are dominated by old durian trees that have strong associations with other species such as Jengkol (Archidendron pauciflorum), Duku (Lansium domesticum), and Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis).  Contribution: This research contributes to biodiversity conservation by providing habitats for local flora and fauna and maintaining ecosystem balance. However, the sustainability of this system faces significant challenges, including land conversion due to population pressure, oil palm plantation expansion, declining durian productivity, and the emergence of the “tasteless durian” phenomenon that reduces fruit quality. Therefore, management strategies focusing on species diversification, tree rejuvenation, and innovations in cultivation technology are essential to sustain durian agroforestry and improve community welfare, particularly in the Selat region

Abstract

The study of consumer preferences is a major consideration in determining production and marketing strategies, including for fresh fruit products. This research aims to examine trends in studies on consumer preferences in the marketing of fresh fruits in Indonesia. The study was conducted using bibliometric analysis of data from studies over the period 2013-2023 from the Google Scholar database. Data collection was carried out using the Publish or Perish application by applying an appropriate keyword strategy as a form of selection. Subsequently, mapping and visualization of the analysis results were performed using the VOSviewer application. The analysis results show that the number of publications on consumer preferences for fresh fruits has significantly increased in the last decade, with the main focus on product attributes such as freshness, price, and taste. Studies on consumer preferences for fresh fruits in Indonesia predominantly focus on understanding consumer preferences, product attributes, and data collection methods. The most frequently appearing keywords reflect a strong interest in consumer preferences for local fruits compared to imported ones. The findings of this study open opportunities for further research, particularly in low-density areas such as specific geographical and demographic focuses and certain types of fruits that show potential for further study.

Abstract

Masyarakat suku Melayu Jambi memanfaatkan tumbuhan dalam berbagai kegiatan adat. Beberapa kegiatan adat yang masih dilestarikan yaitu dalam rangkaian acara pernikahan, kehamilan dan kelahiran. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi spesies tumbuhan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan adat serta menentukan Indeks Cultural Significance (ICS), Use Value (UV), dan Plant Part Value (PPV). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif melalui proses wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipatif. Pemilihan informan dilakukan dengan teknik snowball sampling dan purposive sampling. Analisis data tumbuhan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan adat dilakukan secara kualitatif secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif dengan menghitung nilai Indeks Cultural Significance (ICS), Use Value (UV) dan Plant Part Value (PPV). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, tumbuhan yang digunakan untuk kegiatan adat di Kelurahan Olak Kemang yaitu sebanyak 28 spesies dari 20 famili.  Nilai ICS paling tinggi yaitu 52 dari spesies Pandanus amaryllifolius. Nilai UV paling tinggi yaitu 0,037 dari spesies Cananga odorata, Cocos nucifera, Pogostemon cablin, Jasminum sambac, Pandanus amryllifolius, Rosa sp. dan Oryza sativa. Nilai PPV paling tinggi yaitu pada bagian daun sebesar 47%.

Abstract

Yoghurt merupakan minuman fungsional yang dikenal memiliki banyak manfaat. Manfaat tersebut dapat ditingkatkan dengan penambahan buah dan rempah. Jeruk, nanas, dan kayu manis merupakan buah dan rempah yang merupakan komoditas di Jambi yang mudah didapat, berkualitas, dan juga memiliki nilai gizi tinggi. Yoghurt dengan penambahan menggunakan sari buah atau ekstrak rempah mampumeningkatkan aktivitas antioksidan dan memberikan karakter fisik yang menarik. Pembuatan yoghurt dilakukan dengan menerapkan teknik fermentasi sederhana, sehingga diharapkan akan mudah dipraktikkan oleh ibu-ibu PKK. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan yang dimiliki mitra tentang cara pembuatan dan manfaat yoghurt jeruk, nanas, kayu manis. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam bentuk penyampaian materi dan dilanjutkan dengan pelatihan atau praktikmembuat yoghurt secara langsung. Masyarakat yang mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian ini mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan yang dapat dilihat dari hasil post-test dan pre-test, dimana pada kategoripengetahuan baik meningkat dari 53,6% menjadi 78,6%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut bisa disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian ini meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang teknik fermentasi yoghurt

Abstract

The lerak fruit (Sapindus rarak) possesses significant potential as a natural detergent that can serve as an alternative to chemical-based detergents, which are increasingly concerning due to their detrimental effects on the environment and their impact on soil and aquatic organisms. The saponin content in lerak generates foam and exhibits antibacterial properties, making it environmentally safe for both soil and aquatic life. The objective of this program is to train students and teachers at SMAN 3 Muaro Jambi in producing natural detergent from lerak, thereby supporting extracurricular batik activities while also contributing to the establishment of an environmentally friendly school. The stages of this community service activity include socialization, hands-on training, and evaluation (pre- and post-tests). The results of the satisfaction measurement indicate that all participants were satisfied with the implementation of this community service, with 44.4% expressing high satisfaction and 55.6% being satisfied. The percentage of participant's knowledge regarding the name, benefits, preparation methods, and usage of lerak increased by 86%. The number of participants capable of producing lerak detergent rose significantly, from 4.7% to 85.4%, representing an increase of 80.7%. Overall, all participants expressed satisfaction with this activity and demonstrated an enhancement in their knowledge.
