Abstract

Bahan organik fosfor (P) dalam sedimen memainkan peranan dalam fotosintesis, penggunaan gula dan Pati, dan pengalihan energi yang dibutuhkan oleh tanaman dan organisme dalam sedimen. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kandungan fosfor (P) dalam sedimen berdasarkan kedalaman 10 cm, 20 cm dan 30 cm di kawasan hutan bakau Mamburungan Tarakan. Studi ini dimulai pada bulan Februari sampai dengan Juli 2018 metode yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan menjelaskan isi dari fosfor berdasarkan kedalaman pada setiap stasiun penelitian. Pengambilan sampel sedimen dilakukan di 3 titik Stasiun, yaitu daerah akuakultur, pemukiman dan mulut Sungai dengan 3 pengulangan. Dari hasil kajian yang diperoleh nilai bahan organik fosfor dalam sedimen daerah hutan mangrove Mamburungan berdasarkan kedalaman 10 cm berkisar dari 10,11-101,15 mg/L, 20 cm berkisar dari 7,04-141,98 mg/L dan 30 cm berkisar dari 29. 41-66,88 mg/L.

Abstract

Study on the identification of the potential Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) species in coastal waters of Tarakan. The objectives of this study were to identify the types of potential HAB species, which cause red tide event in the coastal waters of Tarakan. Furthermore, this study was to determine the cell density of HAB species in the study area. Sampling was conducted from April to July 2012. Two sampling locations were chosen: Station 1 was located in the Port of Tengkayu 2, Tarakan and Station 2 was situated in the coastal waters of Amal. The results of the study showed that five potential HAB species were identified in Tarakan coastal waters. The species were Chaetoceros sp (class Bacillariophyceae), and four species of class Dinophyceae, which consists of Ceratium furca, Ceratium fusus, Dinophysis caudata and Protoperidinium depressum. The mean cell densities of the five HAB organisms ranged between 150-600 cells. L , 25-125 cells. L -1 . 25-150 cells. L -1 . 25-100 cells. L -1 and 25-50 cells. L -1 respectively. Chaetoceros sp dominated the area with the mean cell density of 322 ± 92 cells. L -1 compared to four other HAB species. Nevertheless, this study did not find any fish mortality events or a human illness caused by HAB species at Tarakan waters.Key word : Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB), Fitoplankton, Waters of Tarakan.

Abstract

The aim of research was to determine the sex ratio test; fish mortality and growth of fish nomei in waters Juata Tarakan City. Method location research is purposive sampling with consideration that the research sites is the main area of fishing nomei in the waters Juata Tarakan City. The variable in this study is the variable sex ratio, mortality, growth allometri, condition index, absolute growth, age structure. Sample collection technique using field surveys. The sampling method by using the technique of "purposive sampling". Primary data obtained from data on length and weight of the fish that fishermen catch nomei performed 5 times a cycle arrest for 3 months for a total of as many as 50 fish of various sizes. Fish samples measured length (cm) and weight (grams). Sampling as many as 50 fish nomei using purposive sampling method is expected to represent the population of fish nomei in the waters Juata Tarakan City.The result showed that the sex ratio is 43.2% male and 56.8% female. The maximum length of male and female fish nomei is 32.2 cm average growth rate of 0,019 cm / day and by 34 cm with a growth rate of 0,017 cm / day. Nomei male and female fish that are allometri positive and negative. The mortality rate of male and female fish that is equal to3.88% per three months and 6.97% per three months. Keywords : Harpadon nehereus; mortality; kelammin ratio; growth; Tarakan

Abstract

The effectiveness of domestic waste water treatment plant (WWTP) RBC System (Rotating Biological Contactor), inplemented in WWTP at Kelurahan Sebengkok Kota Tarakan. The objective of this study was to determine the process and effectiveness of domestic waste water treatment plant (WWTP) at Kelurahan Sebengkok Kota Tarakan. This research carried out for 4 months from April to July 2014. The result of this research that the domestic waste water treatment plant (WWTP) at Kelurahan Sebengkok Kota Tarakan is using RBC system (Rotating Biological Contactor), a processing system by using a system of micro-organisme to break down organic materials. Analysis of the results showed that, the level of effectiviness of domestic waste Water treatment water plant RBC system at Kelurahan Sebengkok Tarakan is very effective. 2013 the average level of effectiveness by 69,24 % and in 2014 by 62, 34 %, decline in the level of effectiveness from 2013 to 2014. Key words : Effectiveness, Waste Water Treatment Plant and RBC

Abstract

Pengembangan penelitian-penelitian mengenai ekologi plankton sangat diperlukan, karena mengingat organisme ini memiliki peranan penting sebagai produsen primer di perairan, mengetahui tingkat kesuburan perairan dan sebagai indikator dalam menentukan suatu daerah penangkapan ikan. Permasalahan yang terjadi dalam melakukan penelitian plankton khususnya untuk mengidentifikasi jenis plankton adalah tidak efisiennya dari aspek waktu. Hal ini karena pada umumnya dalam melakukan identifikasi jenis plankton para mahasiswa dan dosen di lingkungan Universitas Borneo Tarakan menggunakan buku panduan identifikasi yang cukup tebal, sehingga membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk mengidentifikasi jenis plankton. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang program basis data, yang digunakan sebagai sistem pengklasifikasian atau mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis plankton dengan lebih efektitif dan efisien dalam pengoperasiannya. Perancangan program basis data ini menggunakan perangkat lunak aplikasi pengakses basis yaitu program Delphi dan juga MS. Access.Kata kunci : Program basis data, Identifikasi plankton

Abstract

The hospital wastewater contains high organic matter and can cause the quality of water to deteriorate and affects aquatic ecosystems. The objective of this study was to design a wastewater treatment unit using aerobic-anaerobic biofilter system by examining the content of turbidity, TDS and TSS. This research was conducted from January to March 2016 at Pertamedika Hospital Tarakan. The results of study showed that the concentration of turbidity, TSS and TDS decreased 48%, 56% and 11% respectively. It can be concluded that the wastewater treatment unit by using anaerobic-aerobic biofilter system was quite effectively to reduce the concentrations of turbidity and TSS. However, the concentration of TDS has not shown a significant decrease after treatment.  Keyword  : Wastewater Treatment unit, Aerob-Anaerob Biofilter

Abstract

Bunyu Island in the North Kalimantan province has abundant and economically valuable marine aquatic ecosystem resources, where Bunyu Island communities utilize the potential of marine aquatic ecosystems to be used as fishery potential in terms of fishing using bottom fish pots. Fishing catch is economically valuable in the form of red snapper and grouper fish found in the marine ecosystems of Bunyu Island. The research objective was to analyze the growth and size structure of the Red Snapper fish (Lutjanus argentimaculatus) and Grouper fish (Epinephalus malabaricus) originating from the waters of the island of Bunyu. Retrieval of data in the form of growth parameters are the total length and standard length, total weight, gender, gonad maturity level, and gonad weight. The results of the study of most snapper caught the length of 40,49-47,61 cm and a weight of 990,05-1.451,68 grams. While the results of the grouper study most caught were 43,73-50,13 cm in length and weights of 800,94-1.308,70 grams. The nature of growth of Red Snapper fish (Lutjanus argentimaculatus) are negative allometry. The condition index value is skinny of Red Snapper fish (Lutjanus argentimaculatus). Grouper fish (Epinephalus malabaricus) of total length and total weight is positive allometry and on the standart and fork length with total weight is negative allometri.

Abstract

Kerang Bakau (Geloina coaxans) merupakan salah satu jenis gastropoda yang diduga memiliki komponen bioaktif yang dapat digunakan sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengeksplorasi potensi kerang bakau (G. coaxans) sebagai sumber bahan alami antibakteri terhadap Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak G. coaxans di uji dengan metode difusi pada konsentrasi 10, 50 dan 100 mg/mL, serta identifikasi senyawa aktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan rendemen ekstrak etanol G. coaxans yaitu 8,50%, senyawa fitokomia ekstrak etanol G. coaxans terdiri dar alkaloid, tanin, flavonoids, saponin, triterpenoid dan steroid. Aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan ekstrak etanol G. coaxans memiliki zona hambat sebesar 25,05 pada konsentrasi 100 mg/mL terhadap V. parahaemolyticus.

Abstract

Macrozoobenthos are organism that can be used as bioindicators of water quality because of their population changes influenced by environmental factors. The research was conducted in the coastal flow area of Karang Anyar Pantai Tarakan City, because this area is suspected to be a source of pollutants with varying environment conditions. The purpose of research is to know the physical chemistry of the water-chemical physics area from Karang Anyar Pantai with the index diversity (H ) of macrozoobenthos as bioindicators. The Sampling methods was purposive sampling. Calculation of diversity index (H'), similarity (E), and Dominancy (D) use the Shannon-Wienner index. The variables measured include physics (temperature, brightness, current velocity, and turbidity) and chemistry (pH and DO). The results showed an abundance of macrozoobenthos ranging from 2045-4129 ind/m. The value of the Diversity index (H) of macrozoobenthos ranges from 0.19 to 0.24.Keywords: DAS Karang Anyar Pantai, diversity, Macrozoobentos

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide information about the existence, type, amount and concentration of heavy metals in waters and sediments and its accumulation in seaweed Euchema Cottonii at Amal waters Tarakan City. in the waters has found two types of heavy metal, cadmium (Cd) and nickel (Ni) in water and sediments. In Euchema Cottoni seaweed has found 2 types of heavy metals, Copper (Cu) and Iron (Fe) when the seedling and 4 types of heavy metals during harvest is Copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and nickel (Ni). Concentrations of heavy metals in the waters of cadmium from 0.005 to 0.007 mg/l and nickel 0.064 to 0.084 mg/l. Concentrations of heavy metals in the sediment are cadmium 0.068 mg/l and nickel 0.175 mg/l. Concentrations of heavy metals in seaweed Euchema Cottoni when seedlings are Copper 1.91 mg/l, iron 86.64 mg/l. Concentrations of heavy metals in seaweed Euchema Cottoni at harvesting the Copper 4.03 mg/l, manganese 151.25 mg/l, iron 0.97 mg/l and nickel 16.6 mg/l.  Keyword: heavy metals, waters, sediments, Euchema Cottonii.
