Abstract

As an impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, learning is now carried out online. The purpose of this study was to describe the effectiveness of the Predict-observe-explain (POE) strategy in improving elementary students' skills in predicting and understanding the science concept assisted by zoom meeting. This study used a pre-experimental method with a one-group interpretation-posttest design.  The subjects of this study consisted of 20 students of grade V (five) odd semester of a private elementary school in city of Bandung. Research instrument in the form of pretest, posttest, and predicting skills were given to students using a two-level diagnostic test. Data collection is done using google form. The results showed that the predict-observe-explain (POE) strategy, through demonstration video  assisted by zoom meeting could help students improve their predicting skills and conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This article was written to provide information about the importance of prospective student teachers, especially elementary school teachers, having language skills. A teacher needs to read books that are useful as sources of teaching materials. On the same occasion, teachers also need to make notes regarding the content of the reading and perhaps on other occasions have to write teaching preparations, write reports, and perhaps write papers. Then, in teacher meetings, in class, and on various occasions you need to listen to conversations between other teachers, students, relations, etc. Of course, in certain contexts it is also necessary to convey thoughts, feelings, facts or other things by speaking. So it is clear that students as prospective teachers need to have adequate language skills in their activities as teachers and as members of society. By providing prospective elementary school teachers with the importance of having language skills, it is hoped that they can foster curiosity and responsibility to learn language skills and be able to apply them in everyday life both as part of teacher professionalism and in everyday life. This paper is limited to studying aspects of language skills, not linguistic studies.

Abstract

This research aims to improve learning quality by implementing a scientific approach with quantum teaching settings in elementary school. The research method used is classroom action research, which has two cycles. Data collection instruments include observation sheets for implementing scientific approaches with quantum teaching settings and test items for learning outcomes. The results of the study show that in cycle I, both the teacher's skills and student activities indicate that students enjoy the learning activities, as evidenced by the emoticon choices of the 24 attending students; eight students chose the "very happy" emoticon, eleven students chose the "happy" emoticon, and five students chose the "neutral" emoticon. Meanwhile, in cycle II, out of the 24 attending students, 14 students chose the "very happy" emoticon, 11 students chose the "happy" emoticon, and one student chose the "neutral" emoticon. Regarding student learning outcomes, the average score in cycle I was 52.50%, which increased to 69.25% in cycle II. These results indicate that implementing scientific approaches with quantum teaching settings can improve the quality of education in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics)-based learning media with a lesson study approach to improve the quality of learning in Elementary Schools in Cisolok District. The method used in this study is development (Research and Development/R&D) with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. In the analysis stage, student needs and STEAM challenges are identified through initial observations and interviews. The media design is prepared based on the results of the analysis, and developed through a prototype that is tested in class. Implementation is carried out in Elementary Schools in Cisolok District, with data collection through observation, questionnaires, and interviews to measure student and teacher responses to the media developed. The collected data are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively, using descriptive statistics for questionnaires, and qualitative analysis of interviews to understand teacher experiences and challenges in lesson study. Statistical tests are conducted to evaluate changes in student engagement and improvements in teacher competence. The results of the study indicate that the developed STEAM-based learning media can increase student engagement in the learning process. In addition, teacher collaboration in lesson study has proven effective in improving teacher professional competence, especially in designing and implementing innovative learning media. This study contributes to the development of learning media that are more relevant to students' needs and provides solutions to challenges in STEAM-based learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Equality in learning services is a crucial value in helping students sustainably face future challenges. Teachers, as facilitators, need to adopt learning models that integrate ESD (Education for Sustainable Development). The RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model offers a new alternative aimed at helping students acquire multiple competencies. This study seeks to promote equality in learning services for fourth-grade elementary students through the RADEC learning model with an ESD orientation. The method used is a mixed-method approach with an embedded concurrent strategy, implementing one stage of qualitative and quantitative data collection at the same time. The study participants included 32 fourth-grade elementary students and one elementary school teacher. The instruments used in the study include an observation sheet for the implementation of the RADEC learning model, an observation sheet for equality in learning services, and a teacher interview guide. Data processing was conducted qualitatively by describing the implementation of ESD-oriented RADEC learning and equality in learning services, while quantitative data processing was carried out to determine the level of RADEC implementation and the occurrence of equality in learning service indicators. The results show that the implementation of the ESD-oriented RADEC learning model was achieved at an "excellent" level with an average implementation rate of 81%, while equality in learning services was observed at a "good" level with an average indicator occurrence rate of 73%.

Abstract

Regular elementary schools without an inclusion label are still required to accept students with special needs, including ADHD. This study aims to identify the teaching processes implemented by teachers for ADHD students in regular schools without special education assistants. The research was conducted at a public elementary school in Sukabumi City in November 2024. The method used was descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through an ADHD identification instrument, in-depth interviews with the classroom teacher, and learning documentation. The research subjects consisted of one classroom teacher and a first-grade student suspected of having ADHD. The findings indicate that the student only met three out of 17 ADHD indicators. This was due to limited teacher observations or insufficient supporting information. In the learning process, the teacher applied strategies such as behavior management, group work, seat arrangement, giving instructions, and managing tantrums, all tailored to the student's needs. However, services for ADHD students in regular schools remain limited. Therefore, further efforts are needed from teachers and schools to enhance support, including collaboration with parents and specialists. This study is expected to serve as a reference for developing inclusive education practices in regular schools.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis perlu dikembangkan sejak dini, terutama di jenjang sekolah dasar. Namun dalam praktiknya khususnya pada pelajaran IPA (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam) masih sering dilakukan secara konvensional dan kurang melibatkan siswa secara aktif, sehingga kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa cenderung rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektifitas pendekatan STEAM (Sciecnce, Technology, Engineering. Art. and Mathematic) dalam meningkatkan berpikir kritis siswa SD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka dengan mengkaji berbagai literature jurnal, dan sumber relevan dari hasil penelurusan 20 artikel, terpilih 12 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria tujuan peneliti, yang diterbitkan dalam kurun waktu lima tahun terakhir (2020-2025). Hasil analisis menunjukkan pendekatan STEAM efektif meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang mendorong proses analisis, pemecahan masalah dan pengambil keputusan ditandai dengan peningkatan keaktifan dalam proses pembelajaran serta hasil evaluasi yang lebih baik meskipun terdapat beberapa tantangan seperti keterbatasan sarana dan kesiapan guru, namun pendekatan pembelajaran STEAM pada pelajaran IPA, direkomendasikan sebagai strategi pembelajaran invatif ditingkat pendidikan dasar

Abstract

Rendahnya hasil belajar IPAS di sekolah dasar disebabkan oleh dominasi metode pembelajaran konvensional yang monoton dan tidak sesuai dengan pengalaman nyata siswa, sehingga mereka kesulitan memahami konsep, kurang aktif berdiskusi, dan tidak menunjukkan minat belajar yang tinggi.  Untuk menanggapi permasalahan tersebut, studi pendahuluan dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara bersama guru serta siswa, kemudian diperkuat dengan kajian literatur guna memperoleh gambaran yang lebih komprehensif. Hasil observasi mengungkapkan bahwa pendekatan joyful learning berbasis metode role playing belum diterapkan di sekolah tersebut. Berdasarkan temuan yang diperoleh, pendekatan ini menunjukkan potensi yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dan layak dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran yang inovatif serta menyenangkan di tingkat sekolah dasar. Berdasarkan urgensi peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran, pendekatan ini perlu diujicobakan secara langsung agar manfaatnya dapat terukur secara ilmiah.
