Abstract

The adoption of digital payments by micromerchants in South Jakarta remains low. This study aims to investigate the reasons behind this reluctance, identify the factors that contribute to it, and suggest potential solutions. Qualitative research method was used. The research sample consisted of microentrepreneurs in the culinary, food and beverage, grocery, and home laundry sectors. Data were collected through interviews and observations in order to gain a more detailed understanding. The findings indicate that a significant proportion of small entrepreneurs remain reluctant to utilize digital payments because of a lack of comprehension regarding its utilization. This underscores the necessity for the provision of education and training to micro-merchants regarding the advantages and operational aspects of digital payments. This could potentially enhance the adoption of digital payments among micromerchants and facilitate more efficient business operations.

Abstract

The use of online lending (pinjol) often leads to urgent psychosocial pressure and financial stress for borrowers. As a result, m any borrowers become trapped in a cycle of debt that leads to immediate financial strain, decreased quality of life, and mental and social health problems. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the psychosocial impacts and measure the level of financial stress experienced by pinjol borrowers in Jakarta. Mixed methods approach with an exploratory sequential design with a total of 166 respondens. The study offers an integrated analysis of psychological, social, and economic aspects within a single framework, focusing on the urban context that has not been widely explored. Findings indicate that most respondents experienced psychological pressure, with 53% reporting anxiety and 43% experiencing social pressure due to societal stigma. More than 48% of respondents reported high levels of financial stress, with 51% citing non-transparent interest rates and aggressive debt collection practices as contributing factors. The psychosocial impacts of online lending as well as high interest rates and repetitive debt cycles often lead to emotional strain, helplessness, and ongoing stress. Borrowers who lack financial literacy are more vulnerable to risky lending practices.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dual role of community organizations (OMS) in managing illegal parking in Jakarta. The focus is to understand how OMS are not only involved in economic exploitation but also contribute to law enforcement in public spaces. A mixed-method approach is used to gain a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon. Quantitative data was collected through surveys administered to users of illegal parking services and members of civil society organizations (CSOs). Qualitative data were collected through focused group discussions involving Pemuda Pancasila, FBR, Forkabi, and other informal actors. Findings show that CSOs have a dual function: they act as parking enforcement officers while also engaging in the collection of illegal fees. Although operating outside the formal legal framework, their presence reflects a hybrid governance model that fills institutional gaps in the provision of public services. More inclusive and participatory urban governance policies are needed to address the complexity of informal regulation in city management. This study contributes to the understanding of informal governance and hybrid authority in urban environments. The novelty lies in the dual role of OMS in addressing illegal parking and informal parking governance.

Abstract

The rapid growth of online lending has improved financial access but has raised concerns about financial stress, social pressure, and psychological consequences among borrowers. This study addresses this gap by examining the borrower-centered impacts of online borrowing, which remain underexplored in prior research. The objective of this study was to analyze how financial stress and social impacts contribute to psychological outcomes. A qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews with borrowers and industry practitioners, supported by document analysis. Data from 77 participants were analyzed using thematic analysis methods. The findings show that high interest rates and repayment obligations generate financial stress, disrupt social relationships, and lead to anxiety and reduced well-being. These results highlight the interconnected nature of the financial, social, and psychological challenges of online borrowing. This study offers practical implications for policymakers and lending platforms to develop more responsible and sustainable lending practices that better protect borrowers, particularly through stronger regulatory oversight, improved transparency in loan terms, and stricter controls on interest rate structures and collection practices. In addition, financial literacy programs and borrower education initiatives should be strengthened to help individuals make more informed borrowing decisions and manage repayment risks more effectively.

Abstract

Background: The rapid expansion of digital communication has encouraged culinary micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to increasingly rely on buzzer-generated promotional content to attract consumers and strengthen their market presence. Although previous studies have acknowledged the importance of digital content in shaping consumer behavior, limited attention has been given to how the quality and credibility of buzzer-generated content jointly influence purchase decisions through the development of brand trust, particularly in the culinary MSME sector. Methods: This study employed a quantitative research approach to examine the relationships among buzzer content quality, content credibility, brand trust, and purchase decisions. Data were collected from 98 consumers of culinary MSMEs in South Jakarta using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4 to evaluate both the measurement and structural models. Results: The findings indicate that both buzzer content quality and content credibility have positive and significant effects on brand trust and consumers' purchase decisions. Brand trust demonstrated the strongest direct effect on purchase decisions and partially mediated the relationships between buzzer content quality, content credibility, and purchase decisions. Furthermore, the structural model exhibited satisfactory explanatory power, confirming that the proposed framework effectively explains consumer purchasing behavior in the culinary MSME context. Conclusion: This study extends the application of Information Quality Theory to buzzer marketing by demonstrating that content quality and credibility work together to strengthen brand trust and ultimately enhance consumers' purchase decisions. The findings suggest that culinary MSMEs should prioritize the development of trustworthy, informative, and high-quality buzzer-generated content to reinforce consumer confidence and improve the effectiveness of their digital marketing strategies.
