Abstract

Proper care for dental and oral health needs to be performed since early ages. Elementary school students should develop good habit related to dental health by regular teeth brushing and consuming health food, including at school. Dental health cadres have been appointed to assist dental health workers in carrying out efforts to maintain the dental and oral health of school members. Teachers are potential dental health cadres who can guide students to develop proper dental health behavior at schools. Purpose: This community service was administered to enhance the knowledge and skills of dentalhealth cadres to be able to assist elementary school students in improving their dental and oral health. Method: The training was conducted through lectures, demonstrations and simulations for teachers as dental health cadres at Manefu Elementary School, Taebenu District. Some educational media were used including posters, phantoms and toothbrushes and training manuals. Training and simulations on how to properly brush teeth and maintain dental health were held. In this study,a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design was also performed and data of the study were analyzed using the paired sample test. Results: Training and assistance program for dental health cadres was found effective in improving the knowledge and skills of dental health cadres with a p-value of 0.000.

Abstract

Anak sekolah dasar termasuk kelompok rentan dalam masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Terbukti Hasil Riset Kesehatan Dasar 2018 proporsi masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut sebesar 57,6%, hal ini menjadi tantangan bagi tenaga terapis gigi dan mulut di Indonesia sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya-upaya dalam meningkatkan derajat kesehatan dan mulut. Salah upaya dalam menghadapi masalah kesehatan di masa pandemi ini dengan cara melatih kader kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang ada di sekolah dasar melalui pengaktifkan kembali kader UKGS dan  guru UKS, serta melakukan pemberdayaan kader kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Metode Pelaksanaan: penyuluhan, pelatihan dan pendampingan kader kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Hasil Kegiatan: ada peningkatan pengetahuan dan peningkatan keterampilan dalam penerapan protokol kesehatan  antara lain; cara cuci tangan yang baik dan benar, cara menggunakan masker yang benar serta penerapan etika batuk dan bersin yang benar.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Behaviourwas the result of the interaction of external factors in the form of stimuli and internal factors in the form of responses. Dental health behaviourwas very influential on attitudes, perceptions, infrastructure and behaviour. The purpose of the study: to determine the effect of attitudes, perceptions, infrastructure on the dental health behaviour of sixth grade students in Baumata Village, Taebenu District. Research method: an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were 112 children with criteria including male and female, willing became respondents by filling out informed consent. The attitude, perception and behaviour variables were measured by a questionnaire using a Likert scale; infrastructure variables were measured using a questionnaire by filling in the yes and no options. The results: The results of the correlation analysis showed that the variables of attitude (p=0.000), perception (p=0.014) and infrastructure (p=0.022) were significantly related to behaviour. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the infrastructure variable (p=0.212) had no significant effect on behaviour. Attitude (p=0.000) and perception (p=0.010) variables had a significant effect on behaviour. Conclusion: There was an influence of attitudes and perceptions while infrastructure has no effect on dental health behaviour in sixth grade students of SD Baumata Village, Taebenu District.

Abstract

Perilaku Pemeliharaan Kesehatan Gigi penduduk Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur sesuai dengan anjuran masih sangat rendah. Hal ini menjadi tantangan bagi tenaga kesehatan gigi untuk melakukan upaya peningkatan kesehatan gigi dan mulut masyarakat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini merupakan upaya promotif dan preventif kepada ibu-ibu siswa SD GMIT Baumata untuk meningkatkan Perilaku Pemeliharaan Kesehatan Gigi. Metode Pelaksanaan: memberikan penyuluhan dengan topik kesehatan gigi dan mulut serta melakukan demonstrasi dan bimbingan gigi yang baik dan benar. Hasil Kegiatan: ada perubahan perilaku ibu yang baik dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut dari 11,5% menjadi 31,1%. Namun sebagian besar ibu (54,1%) hanya memiliki perilaku yang cukup dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut. perlu dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dengan berbagai inovasi sehingga dapat lebih meningkatkan perilaku ibu dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut keluarga

Abstract

The School Dental Health Business (UKGS) is an integral part of the School Health Business (UKS) which carries out planned dental and oral health services for students, especially elementary school students (STD) within a certain period of time, which is carried out continuously through the UKS package, namely the UKS package. minimal, standard package and optimal package. Teachers are people who help others learn, by training, explaining, giving lectures, regulating discipline and evaluating students' abilities. Teachers can act as counselors and give instructions. In this case, Sports and Health Physical Education teachers have a more important role in UKGS services to students than other school communities. Because Sports and Health Physical Education teachers know more about health sciences, anatomy, physiology and handling injuries compared to teachers other. Because they know more about health, Sports and Health Physical Education Teachers have a more important role and are expected to be involved in UKGS activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of sports and health physical education teachers on school dental health business services. The method in this research is descriptive method. The results showed that the results of the questionnaire distribution to determine the role of sports teachers in UKGS services were in good criteria as many as 10 people (71.5%), in promotive efforts were in good criteria as many as 10 people (71.5%), preventive on criteria good as many as 10 people (71.5%) and simple curative on good criteria as many as 10 people (71.5%). It was concluded that the role of sports teachers in providing UKGS services, both promotive, preventive and curative efforts were in good criteria. Usaha Kesehatan Gigi Sekolah (UKGS) adalah bagian integral dari Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) yang melaksanakan pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan mulut secara terencana pada siswa terutama siswa Sekolah Tingkat Dasar (STD) dalam suatu kurun waktu tertentu,diselenggarakan secara berkesinambungan melalui paket UKS yaitu paket minimal,paket standar dan paket optimal. Guru adalah orang yang membantu orang lain belajar,dengan melatih, menerangkan,memberi ceramah, mengatur disiplin dan mengevaluasi kemampuan siswa. Guru dapat berperan sebagai konselor dan pemberi instruksi. Dalam hal ini,Guru Pendidikan Jasmani Olahraga dan Kesehatan mempunyai peran yang lebih penting dalam pelayanan UKGS terhadap siswa-siswi dibandingkan masyarakat sekolah lainnya.Karena guru Pendidikan Jasmani Olahraga dan Kesehatan lebih mengetahui tentang ilmu kesehatan, anatomi,fisiologi dan penanganan pada cedera dibandingkan dengan guru yang lainnya. Karena lebih mengetahui tentang kesehatan,maka Guru Pendidikan Jasmani Olahraga dan Kesehatan mempunyai peran yang lebih penting dan diharapkan terlibat dalam kegiatan UKGS. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran guru pendidikan jasmani olahraga dan kesehatan terhadap pelayanan usaha kesehatan gigi sekolah. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari hasil pembagian kuesioner untuk mengetahui peran guru olahraga dalam pelayanan UKGS berada pada kriteria baik sebanyak 10 orang (71,5%), dalam upaya promotif berada pada kriteria baik sebanyak 10 orang (71,5%), preventif pada kriteria baik sebanyak 10 orang (71,5%) dan kuratif sederhana pada kriteria baik sebanyak 10 orang (71,5%). Disimpulkan bahwa Peran guru olahraga dalam melakukan pelayanan UKGS, baik upaya promotif, preventif dan kuratif berada dalam kriteria baik.

Abstract

The mouth is an ideal place for the growth of bacteria. If the mouth is not cleaned properly, the food debris stuck to the teeth forms a colony called plaque, which is a thin, sticky and colorless (transparent) layer. Plaque is formed 1 hour after teeth cleaning and reaches its maximum after 30 days and plaque cannot be removed by gargling, spraying water or air, and can only be removed by mechanical means. Until now, the most effective mechanical means for removing plaque is a toothbrush. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for dental caries in Murniasih Kindergarten children, Bakunase Village, Kota Raja District, using the Irene's Donut simulator. This type of research is descriptive research, which is a research method carried out with the main objective of obtaining an objective description or description of a situation. The population in this study were all 30 children in Murniasih Kindergarten, Bakunase Subdistrict, Kota Raja sub-district with their mother. The sample of this research is using the total population. The results showed that the risk factor for dental caries in Murniasih Kindergarten children was 100%. This happens because from birth the child is raised by his own family, if the mother or family (grandmother, grandfather) prepares food for the child, the risk of dental caries will be higher than if the maid who Having to prepare children's food plays a role in children's dental caries, with low maternal education (83%) so that children have a higher risk of caries, while children who like sweets (80%). It was concluded that the risk of dental caries in children at Murniasih Kindergarten for moderate criteria was still quite high (40%). This happens because the level of knowledge and how to raise children is not paid attention by parents where before going to bed at night children are not accustomed to brushing their teeth, and children also like to eat sweet food and drink, children have a habit of eating food, this can trigger teething. cavities (caries). Mulut merupakan suatu tempat yang sangat ideal bagi perkembangan bakteri. Bila mulut tidak dibersihkan dengan sempurna maka sisa makanan yang terselip pada gigi membentuk koloni yang disebut plak, yaitu lapisan tipis, lengket dan tidak berwarna (transparan). Plak terbentuk 1 jam setelah gigi dibersihkan dan mencapai maksimum setelah 30 hari dan plak tidak dapat dibersihkan dengan kumur-kumur, semprotan air atau udara, dan hanya dapat dibersihkan dengan alat mekanis. Sampai saat ini alat mekanis yang paling efektif untuk membersihkan plak adalah sikat gigi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor resiko karies gigi pada anak-anak TK Murniasih Kelurahan Bakunase Kecamatan Kota Raja dengan menggunakan simulator Irene’s Donut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yaitu suatu metode penelitian yang dilakukan dengan tujuan utamanya untuk mendapatkan gambaran atau deskripsi tentang suatu keadaan secara objektif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak di TK Murniasih Kelurahan Bakunase kecamatan Kota Raja yang berjumlah 30 orang bersama ibunya. Sampel penelitian ini adalah menggunakan total populasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan faktor resiko karies gigi pada anak Tk Murniasih sebesar 100%  hal ini terjadi karena dari lahir anak diasuh oleh keluarga sendiri jika ibu atau keluarga (nenek, kakek) yang menyiapkan makanan untuk anak maka resiko karies gigi akan lebih tinggi dibandingkan jika pembantu yang harus menyiapkan makanan anak berperan pada karies gigi anak, dengan pendidikan ibu  (83%)  rendah  sehingga berisiko lebih tinggi anak yang mempunyai karies, sedangkan pada anak yang menyukai  permen (80%). Disimpulkan bahwa resiko karies gigi pada anak di TK Murniasih untuk kriteria sedang masih cukup tinggi (40%). Hal ini terjadi karena tingkat pengetahuan dan cara mengasuh anak yang kurang diperhatikan oleh orang tua dimana pada saat sebelum tidur malam anak tidak dibiasakan menggosok gigi, dan juga anak suka makan makanan dan minum yang manis, anak mempunyai kebiasaan mengemut makanan hal ini dapat memicu terjadinya gigi berlubang (karies).

Abstract

Dental and oral health is an integral part of overall health services. One of the proposed technical programs is to develop a policy for preventing dental and oral diseases and to increase efforts to promote dental and oral health, especially for school-age children and adolescents. Dental caries or cavities are damage to the hard tissues of the teeth, from tooth enamel to dentin or bone. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and prevalence of caries in the students of SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur, Kupang Regency. The research method is a descriptive study with a sample of 30 respondents, consisting of children aged 7-9 years. The independent variable studied was the incidence of caries, the dependent variable was the child's knowledge of eating patterns. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. The results of the study on respondents showed that the level of children's knowledge about eating patterns was in the good category of 6.7%, the level of poor knowledge was 93.3%. While children who have caries are in the very high category with a percentage of 96.7 (29 students), children who are free of caries with a percentage of 3.3 (1 student). Kesehatan Gigi dan mulut merupakan bagian integral dari pelayanan Kesehatan secara menyeluruh. Salah satu program teknis yang disarangkan adalah mengembangkan kebijakan pencegahan penyakit gigi dan mulut serta meningkatkan upaya promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut khusunya pada anak-anak usia sekolah dan remaja. Karies Gigi atau Gigi berlubang merupakan merupakan kerusakan pada jaringan keras gigi di mulai dari email gigi hingga dentin atau tulang gigi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan dan prevalensi karies pada siswa Sekolah Dasar Negeri 2 Baumata Timur Kabupaten Kupang. Metode penelitian merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pengambilan sampel sampel sebanyak 30 responden yaitu terdiri dari anak usia 7-9 tahun. Variabel bebas yang diteliti yakni kejadian karies, Variabel terikat yakni pengetahuan anak tentang pola makan. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah kusioner. Hasil penelitian pada responden menunjukkan tingkat pengetahuan anak tentang pola makan berada pada kategori baik sebesar 6,7%, tingkat pengetahuan buruk sebanyak 93,3%. Sedangkan anak yang memiliki karies berada pada kategori sangat tinggi dengan Persentase 96,7 (29 siswa), anak yang bebas karies dengan persentase 3,3 (1 siswa).

Abstract

The main factor that can cause cavities (caries) is the presence of bacteria that can cause cavities, namely bacteria types streptococcus and lacto bacillus, foods that are often consumed are foods that are sticky and stick to the teeth such as candy and chocolate which greatly facilitate the occurrence of cavities and the shape of the teeth. irregular teeth and thick, profuse saliva. Other factors that can also cause cavities and other dental diseases are the level of oral hygiene, frequency of food, gender and age. The purpose of this study was to determine the skills of elementary school students in brushing their teeth using the bass technique at SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur. The population in this study was class IV with 19 students and class V with 21 students at SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur. The sample in this study was the total population studied for grades IV and V with a total of 40 students. The results showed that the skill level of students before being given counseling with pantom, about brushing teeth with the bass technique was still very low at 85%, after being given counseling using pantom about brushing teeth with the bass method the skill level became better, namely 92.5 %. It was concluded that the knowledge of elementary school students' skills in brushing teeth using the bass technique at SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur was good. Faktor utama yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya lubang gigi (Karies) adalah adanya bakteri yang dapat menyebabkan lubang gigi yaitu bakteri jenis streptococcus dan lacto basilus, makanan yang sering dikonsumsi yaitu makanan yang lengket dan menempel di gigi seperti permen dan coklat sangat memudahkan terjadinya lubang gigi serta bentuk gigi yang tidak beraturan dan air liur yang kental dan banyak. Faktor lain yang juga dapat mengakibatkan lubang gigi dan penyakit gigi lainya yaitu tingkat kebersihan gigi dan mulut, frekuensi makanan, jenis kelamin dan usia.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keterampilan siswa-siswi sekolah dasar dalam menggosok gigi menggunakan teknik bass di SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas IV dengan jumlah siswa 19 orang dan kelas V dengan jumlah siswa 21 orang di SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah total populasi yang diteliti kelas IV dan V dengan jumlah 40 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat keterampilan siswa sebelum diberikan penyuluhan dengan pantom, tentang teknik menyikat gigi dengan teknik bass masih sangat rendah yaitu sebesar 85%, setelah diberikan penyuluhan dengan menggunakan pantom tentang teknik menyikat gigi dengan metode bass tingkat keterampilannya menjadi lebih baik yakni 92,5%.  Disimpulkan bahwa pengetahuan keterampilan siswa-siswi sekolah dasar dalam menggosok gigi menggunakan teknik bass di SD Negeri 2 Baumata Timur baik.
