Abstract

Proper care for dental and oral health needs to be performed since early ages. Elementary school students should develop good habit related to dental health by regular teeth brushing and consuming health food, including at school. Dental health cadres have been appointed to assist dental health workers in carrying out efforts to maintain the dental and oral health of school members. Teachers are potential dental health cadres who can guide students to develop proper dental health behavior at schools. Purpose: This community service was administered to enhance the knowledge and skills of dentalhealth cadres to be able to assist elementary school students in improving their dental and oral health. Method: The training was conducted through lectures, demonstrations and simulations for teachers as dental health cadres at Manefu Elementary School, Taebenu District. Some educational media were used including posters, phantoms and toothbrushes and training manuals. Training and simulations on how to properly brush teeth and maintain dental health were held. In this study,a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest design was also performed and data of the study were analyzed using the paired sample test. Results: Training and assistance program for dental health cadres was found effective in improving the knowledge and skills of dental health cadres with a p-value of 0.000.

Abstract

Lose part or all of the teeth can cause emotional effects, both systemic and functional. Functional impact of tooth loss that can lead to a decrease in masticatory function and subsequently cause a lack of nutrition for the body. Loss of teeth can also affect public health and the oral cavity that will affect the overall quality of life. Decreased masticatory function can result in weight loss, as well the possibility of other factors associated with the taste of that influence appetite, reduced muscle coordination, poor physical conditions, social and economic factors, as well as food absorption factor (absorption capacity). Occlusion is less well as loss of contact back teeth causing dental occlusion can not perform optimally function in chewing which causes the difficulty and limitations of mastication. Difficulties and limitations is what makes people choose softer foods and avoid eating foods that contain lots offiber just as vegetables and fruits. Difficulty in chewing food semakain increase along with the increasing number of missing teeth, especially in theposterior part. This research is analytic study with cross-sectional design to describe the weight ratio between the Seniors with loss of Posterior Teeth Bilateral Free-End and Seniors who still have teeth Posterior aged 60-75. The population in this study were all people aged 60-75 years who have lost posterior teeth Bilateral Free-end and which still has a posterior teeth in the village Camplong I. The samples in this study were taken with Consecutive sampling method. The sample size in this study are 28 people with the details; Group I: sample totaled 13 and Group II: sample totaled 15 people. The results of this study are: when a soft-textured food consumed then there is no difference in the average weight loss in the elderly with teeth posterior free-end and seniors who still have a posterior teeth. When the hard-textured food consumed then there is the difference in average Weight loss in the elderly with posterior teeth free-end and seniors who still have a posterior teeth.

Abstract

The physical and mental growth of a child is affected by the health of his teeth and mouth. A child with untreated dental caries can cause recurrent infections, bacteremia, mastication, and sleeplessness and can, in turn, interfere with child growth. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of early childhood caries promotion and prevention programs at Community Health Centers conducted by Dental Nurses managing community dental programs. The results showed that none of the respondents who conducted the program of promotion and prevention of caries in Posyandu on a regular basis and only 33 percent of respondents who undertook early promotional programs and prevention of early caries in infants incidentally. Parents of Infants and Teachers are not involved in early childhood caries promotion and prevention programs conducted by P. None of the referrals from early childhood/family visit to Puskesmas for advanced dental care. Toddler visits to Dental Police Puskesmas are dominated by Toddlers with cases of periodontal abscess and pulpitis. The conclusion of this research is Dental Nurses Dental health program managers do not have a program of promotion and early dental caries in Toddler. Public Health Service, Puskesmas and especially Dental Nurses Puskesmas managing dental health program community need to make and implement a program of promotion and prevention of early caries at baby at Posyandu and toddler in Posyandu, PAUD / TK involving parents and teachers.
