Abstract

Low teacher ability can result in low student learning activities and also unsatisfactory learning outcomes obtained. This classroom action research aims to determine the application of the Discussion-Comparison Method with Critical Analysis based on Learning Community Extended(DCM-CA& LCE) to increase learning activities student. This research was carried out in three cycles, where each cycle consisted of The implementation of this research was carried out in 3 cycles, each cycle through stages (1) action preparation stage, including diagnostic and therapeutic stages, (2) action implementation stage, (3) monitoring stage and evaluation, as well as (4) analysis and reflection stages. The subjects of this research were students in the third semester of Mahasiswa Semester III Matakuliah Teknologi Pembelajaran Biologi 2 sks Program Studi Pendidikan Biologi FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Research time: Odd Semester Academic Year 2023/2024 (September 2023-January 2024) with a total of 30 students. Activity data and learning outcomes were collected using the observation method via Observation Sheets. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in student learning activity from cycle I to cycle III in the Good category from 16.6% to 53.57%, an increase of 36.7%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis keanekaragaman jamur makroskopis yang ditemukan di Taman Hutan Raya (Tahura) Rajo Lelo Bengkulu. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2024 menggunakan metode eksploratif-deskriptif melalui eksplorasi langsung di lapangan. Spesies jamur dikarakterisasi berdasarkan morfologi makroskopis dan habitatnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 28 spesies jamur makroskopis yang teridentifikasi, terdiri dari dua filum yaitu Basidiomycota (96,4%) dan Ascomycota (3,6%), yang tersebar dalam tujuh ordo dan 16 famili. Ordo yang paling dominan adalah Agaricales (11 spesies), diikuti oleh Polyporales (9 spesies) dan Russulales (4 spesies). Sementara itu, ordo Pezizales dari filum Ascomycota hanya diwakili oleh satu spesies, yaitu Morchella esculenta. Habitat jamur meliputi kayu lapuk, tanah kaya humus, dan serasah daun yang mendukung pertumbuhan tubuh buah. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Tahura Rajo Lelo merupakan ekosistem yang mendukung keberadaan berbagai jenis jamur makroskopis, terutama jamur pelapuk kayu dan mikoriza, yang memiliki nilai ekologis dan potensi pemanfaatan dalam bidang farmasi, pangan, dan pendidikan. Hasil ini dapat dijadikan referensi bagi penelitian lanjutan di bidang biologi, ekologi, mikologi serta pengembangan bahan ajar kontekstual pada pendidikan lingkungan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kebutuhan mahasiswa terhadap pengembangan e-penuntun praktikum Biologi Umum berbasis STEM. Mata Kuliah Biologi Umum merupakan fondasi penting bagi mahasiswa biologi dan praktikum berperan krusial dalam pengembangan keterampilan prosedural dan pemahaman konsep. Namun, penuntun praktikum yang ada saat ini dianggap kurang memadai, terutama dalam hal visualisasi, struktur, dan panduan langkah-langkah yang jelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui angket yang diisi oleh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan biologi Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Angket terdiri dari 10 item yang mencakup kesesuaian penuntun praktikum saat ini, kebutuhan terhadap e-penuntun, dan fitur yang diharapkan. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan utama mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 54,8% mahasiswa merasa penuntun praktikum saat ini kurang dalam visualisasi, 48,4% menilai sulit dipahami, dan 29% menyatakan kurangnya panduan langkah-langkah yang jelas. Fitur yang paling diinginkan dalam e-penuntun adalah panduan langkah-langkah praktikum (25%), video demonstrasi (21%), dan forum diskusi (20%). Materi yang paling membutuhkan praktikum mencakup ekosistem (80,60%), biologi sel (67,70%), bioteknologi (67,70%), struktur dan fungsi hewan (64,50%), struktur dan fungsi tumbuhan (58,10%), serta genetika (51,60%). Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan e-penuntun yang lebih adaptif dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan mahasiswa, dengan memanfaatkan pendekatan STEM untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan keterampilan prosedural. Hasil ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan efektivitas pendidikan biologi melalui integrasi teknologi dan metode pembelajaran yang inovatif.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi motivasi mahasiswa dalam mengikuti praktikum biologi, baik dari segi intrinsik maupun ekstrinsik, serta tantangan yang dihadapi. Dengan menggunakan survei yang melibatkan persentase tanggapan, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi bahwa 85% mahasiswa menikmati eksperimen langsung, 80% merasa tertantang untuk belajar lebih, dan 80% tertarik pada materi yang diajarkan. Dari segi motivasi ekstrinsik, 85% mahasiswa termotivasi oleh keterampilan karir yang diperoleh, 80% berfokus pada nilai akademik, dan 75% mendapatkan dorongan dari umpan balik dosen. Tantangan yang dihadapi termasuk kesulitan dalam praktikum (40% sangat setuju) dan kebosanan (25% sangat setuju). Namun, 80% mahasiswa menganggap praktikum memberikan pengalaman berharga. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis secara kuantitatif untuk mengidentifikasi pola motivasi dan tantangan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya pengalaman praktis dan dukungan dosen dalam meningkatkan keterlibatan mahasiswa, serta perlunya peningkatan fasilitas dan durasi praktikum. Temuan ini dapat membantu institusi pendidikan dalam merancang program praktikum yang lebih efektif, mendukung perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi dengan mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk tantangan karir di masa depan.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the Implementation of Project Based Learning (PJBL) Using Canva on Students' Creative Thinking Ability on Ecosystem Material. This research was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Bengkulu City in January – February 2024, with the population being all class X SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Bengkulu City and the samples were class X regular (Experimental Class) and X talent (Control Class). Samples were taken using the Purposive Sampling technique using a Quasi-Experimental research design with a Non-Randomized Control Group Pretest– Posttest Design. With the data collection technique through a test in the form of questions in essay form totaling 8 questions. Before being given treatment, the experimental class obtained a pretest score of 64.31 and the control class 44.38. After being given treatment in the experimental class using PJBL using Canva the average value was 79.44 in the experimental class and  65.47 in the control class. Data on students' creative thinking abilities was obtained from calculating prerequisite tests, namely in the form of normality tests and homogeneity tests. After the prerequisite tests have been carried out, then the data analysis results are tested using the T-Test, namely the independent samples t-test with a sig result (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05, because the sig value is smaller than 0.05, it is said that Project Based Learning (PJBL) is implemented. ) Using Canva has a significant effect in improving the creative thinking abilities of class X students at SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Bengkulu City. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk  mengetahui adanya pengaruh pada Penerapan Project Based Learning (PJBL) Menggunakan Canva Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Siswa pada Materi Ekosistem. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Bengkulu pada bulan Januari – Februari 2024, populasi penelitian ini seluruh kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Bengkulu dan sampel yaitu kelas X reguler (Kelas Eksperimen) dan X talent (Kelas Kontrol). Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling dengan menggunakan desain penelitian Quasi Eksperimen ( Eksperimen Semu) dengan Non Randomize Control Group Pretest - Posttest Design.Teknik pengambilan data melalui tes yang berupa soal dalam bentuk Essay berjumlah 8 soal. Sebelum diberikan perlakuan kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai pretest sebesar 64.31 dan kelas kontrol 44.38. setelah diberikan perlakuan pada kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan PJBL menggunakan canva nilai rata-ratanya sebesar 79.44 pada kelas eksperimen dan 65.47 pada kelas kontrol. Data kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa didapatkan dari perhitungan uji prasyarat yaitu berupa uji normalitas dan uji homogenitas. Setelah dilakukan uji prasyarat, kemudian dilakukan pengujian hasil analisis data menggunakan Uji-T yaitu uji independent samples t-test dengan hasil sig (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0.05, karena nilai sig lebih kecil dari 0.05 maka dikatakan bahwa penerapan Project Based Learning (PJBL) Menggunakan Canvaberpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Kota Bengkulu.

Abstract

This research aims to identify misconceptions of biology education students in the General Biology course. The method used in this research uses quantitative descriptive. The sample used in this research was Biology education students who had taken General Biology courses consisting of students in semesters 3, 5, and 7. Data collection was carried out using a test in the form of General Biology questions in a four-tier multiple-choice diagnostic format containing high-order thinking skills, totaling 35 questions. The research results showed that the percentage of misconceptions in each class was 43.80% (semester 3), 33.93% (semester 5), and 29.46% (semester 7). The highest percentage of misconception categories among third-semester students was found in the digestive system material (57.78%), fifth-semester students in ecology material (56.67%), and seventh-semester students in ecological material (40.00%). Misconceptions in students could be caused by students not being used to working on this type of question HOTS. To be able to answer correctly, students must be able to analyze and relate the data or information in the question to existing concepts

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implementation of the Discussion–Comparison with Critical Analysis method among Grade X students of SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu City in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a nonrandomized control-group pretest–posttest model, with class X.1 as the experimental group and class X.3 as the control group. The research instruments consisted of observation sheets and multiple-choice tests. The results showed that the learning activity of the experimental class reached 69% (good), which was higher than that of the control class at 49% (fair). The average posttest score of the experimental group was 70.52 with an N-Gain of 0.2779, while the control group obtained an average score of 47.77 with an N-Gain of 0.2015. Statistical testing (p < 0.05) confirmed a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups. In conclusion, the Discussion–Comparison with Critical Analysis method was proven to be effective in improving students’ learning activities and learning outcomes.   Keywords: learning activities, biology, critical analysis, discussion–comparison, learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students' critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes in Biology science learning at Budi Mulia Junior High School, Bengkulu City. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design on 30 seventh-grade students divided into a control class (15 students) and an experimental class (15 students). The research instruments were a critical thinking ability test (5 essay questions) and a cognitive learning outcome test (10 multiple-choice questions) on the classification of living things. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test with SPSS. The results showed a significant difference in critical thinking skills with a significance value of 0.002 <0.05 and cognitive learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.007 <0.05 between the control and experimental classes. The average posttest score for critical thinking (88.67) and cognitive learning outcomes (88.67) of the experimental class was higher than the control class (81.33 and 83.33). It was concluded, the PjBL model significantly improved students' critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes in Biology. Abstract

The development of Science, Technology, and Science (IPTEKS) shows that the world is currently undergoing a very rapid transformation. Therefore, improving the quality of human resources, especially the quality of education, is an important key. Quality education produces skilled human resources, the ability to think creatively, and the readiness to face global competition. In 21st-century learning, several abilities must be developed, one of which is the ability to think creatively. Technology integration in the learning cycle 5E is needed with educational games, namely Nearpod. This study aims to determine the effect of the nearpod-based 5E learning cycle learning model on students' creative thinking abilities. The method used is an experiment with a quasi-experimental research design and a non-randomised control group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all students at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu City, with a research sample consisting of two (2) classes, namely the experimental and control classes, with a total sample of 74 students. Sampling was carried out using the purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a written test to measure students' creative thinking abilities in the form of five (5) essay questions. The data analysis technique uses a hypothesis test (t-test) with a significance level of 5% (0.05). Based on the results of the hypothesis test (t-test) on the posttest value of creative thinking ability, the value obtained is 0.000 <0.05, so there is an influence of the nearpod-based 5E learning cycle learning model on students' creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of applying the Discussion-Comparison with Critical Analysis and Learning Community Extended methods on student motivation and cognitive learning outcomes in Biology at SMA Negeri 7 Bengkulu. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a Nonrandomized Control-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class taught using innovative methods and the control class taught using conventional methods. The research instruments were a validated motivation questionnaire and a multiple-choice cognitive learning outcome test. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test and N-Gain calculations. The results showed that students in the experimental class had higher learning motivation than those in the control class. In addition, the increase in cognitive learning outcomes in the experimental class was also more significant, with an average N-Gain of 0.7225 (high category), while the control class only reached 0.1020 (low category). These findings prove that integrating critical discussion with practitioner involvement can increase students' motivation, conceptual understanding, and analytical skills. Thus, the use of this method is more effective than conventional learning in improving students' cognitive learning outcomes.
