Abstract

For senior high school students, learning concepts in physics is increasingly more difficult when the topic is abstract and cannot be seen with the unaided eye. The research here utilized augmented reality technology and instructional design following the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation) to develop learning media for physics, specifically the kinetic theory of gases. Preliminary analysis was conducted in a senior high school to evaluate the challenges students face when learning physics. The design of the media was based on addressing problems that the students were having. Augmented reality technology was then utilized and the implementation aimed to incorporate the physics concepts into the product. The media was evaluated by six experts. Finally, the learning media presented real-time 3D animation of gas kinetic theory with three basic competencies relevant to the topic. In the final validation, the results indicated that the developed learning media had a validity value of 3.55 out of four-point scale and good quality outcomes. As such, the developed media regarding the kinetic theory of gases is valid and effective for the process of learning and teaching. It is ready to be tested and used in actual learning environments.

Abstract

The community empowerment program in Indragiri Hulu Regency involves elementary school teachers in the production of culture-based documentary videos as part of efforts to preserve local Malay cultural heritage. This initiative, conducted at SDN 005 Batu Gajah, Pasir Penyu Subdistrict, aims to enhance teachers' skills in designing and producing documentary videos focused on Malay culture. The training covers Malay culture theory, the integration of culture into education, scriptwriting techniques, cinematography, video editing, and hands-on practice. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in the teachers' technical skills, evidenced by the creation of four documentary videos: The History of Batu Gajah, The History of Danau Raja, The Making of Kue Bingke, and Silat Pasir Keranji. Although participants were enthusiastic, some encountered technical difficulties due to limited experience with video production tools, highlighting the need for further support and training. This study emphasizes the importance of documentary production training in supporting the preservation of Malay culture and enriching culturally based education. The program is expected to strengthen local curricula with relevant cultural content and reinforce cultural preservation efforts in schools and the community. It is recommended that sustainable training programs with adequate support be implemented to ensure the long-term impact of this initiative in Indragiri Hulu.

Abstract

This study examines the identification process and challenges in supporting students with special needs at SDN 31 Pekanbaru, an inclusive elementary school. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, document analysis, and standardized screening tools. Teachers and researchers assessed students from Grades 1 to 6 and identified five students with special needs: three slow learners and two with ADHD. Findings indicate that the school lacks a formal identification procedure, relying instead on parental reports and personal observations. The absence of specialized training also poses challenges in providing effective interventions. Key challenges include inadequate teacher preparedness, limited resources, and low parental involvement due to social stigma and financial constraints. Although inclusive education policies exist, the current curriculum does not fully accommodate students with diverse learning needs. This study recommends structured teacher training, increased resource allocation, and educational programs for parents. Further research should explore the long-term impact of inclusive education, the effectiveness of teacher training, and strategies to enhance parental involvement in fostering a more inclusive learning environment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in enhancing science process skills and conceptual understanding among prospective elementary school teacher students. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest design was employed. The research involved 80 students as participants. Data were collected through observations, written tests, and project documentation, and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicated a significant improvement in science process skills (r = 0.812; p < 0.001) and conceptual understanding (p < 0.001; d = 3.22). The PjBL model encouraged students to actively engage in observing, measuring, classifying, predicting, inferring, and scientifically communicating. Additionally, it facilitated the reinforcement of contextual, experience-based learning. Therefore, PjBL is proven to be an effective pedagogical strategy for holistically developing students’ scientific competencies.

Abstract

The implementation of EE in Indonesia faces various obstacles, including limited resources, lack of institutional support, and low teacher readiness. This study aims to design a sustainable environmental education model by analyzing the needs of teachers in Indonesia through a Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) approach. This study used the Rapid Appraisal for Sustainability (Rapfish) method with Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) analysis. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 20 randomly selected primary school teachers from various regions in Indonesia. The results of the analysis show that teachers see the potential of EE to improve students' awareness and behavior towards environmental issues, but they face various challenges, such as limited time allocation in the curriculum to deliver EE materials, as well as lack of support from schools and parents. The existing curriculum is considered to still need development, especially through practical activities outside the classroom to increase student engagement. The findings emphasize the importance of government and organizational support through the provision of resources, professional training and curriculum development that includes practical project-based activities. The implications of this research are expected to guide the design of a more effective EE curriculum for primary schools, in line with global sustainable development goals. In conclusion, sustainable environmental education in Indonesia requires more targeted and appropriate curriculum design and teacher training. The implications of this research encourage policy makers to formulate policies that strengthen the integration of environmental education in the national education system.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with video media in facilitating fourth-grade students’ understanding of the concept of changes in the state of matter at SDN 184 Pekanbaru. The background of the research stems from the passive participation of students in conventional science learning, where only 30% could answer conceptual questions correctly. The study aims to analyze how PBL-based video learning enhances students’ conceptual grasp through qualitative case study methods. The research involved 24 students divided into four groups, employing three phases: stimulation via silent experiment videos, structured group discussions, and evaluation using student worksheets (LKPD) and presentations. Data were collected through participatory observation, documentation of group discussions, and teacher reflections, then analyzed via data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Results showed a significant increase in active participation (from 35% to 75%) and conceptual understanding, as evidenced by LKPD scores, with students accurately identifying phenomena like melting ice and sublimating camphor. Despite challenges such as time management and classroom disruptions, the integration of PBL and visual media proved effective in fostering critical thinking and collaboration. The findings align with the NSTA (2022) recommendations for inquiry-based learning and highlight the potential of interactive strategies in elementary science education. This study contributes to the development of innovative teaching methods that bridge theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
