Abstract

Background: Dyslipidemia is a disease that can have a negative impact on human health. Dyslipidemia treatment has 3 levels based on intensity, namely disease with high intensity, medium intensity, and low intensity. In this study, the drugs used were Pravastatin and Rosuvastatin, both of which were of medium intensity. Objective: Knowing the comparison of the effectiveness of the drugs Rosuvastatin and Pravastatin as anti-dyslipidemia in rats. Methods: The research method used in this study is True Experimental. The research design used in this study was the posttest only control group, namely by taking samples after being given the drugs Rosuvastatin and Pravastatin, so that it would be seen the effectiveness of the treatment given to the group of rats tested. Results: Rosuvastatin can lower LDL cholesterol better than Pravastatin because rosuvastatin has the highest binding interaction with HMG-CoA reductase, resulting in the strongest inhibition of cholesterol synthesis of all other statin groups. Pravastatin has the ability to lower LDL. From the results of the average values of the two statin class drugs, Rosuvastatin has a better average value than Pravastatin, but the statistical results can be concluded that there is no significant difference from the 0.5% Na CMC control to Rosuvastatin compared to Pravastatin. Conclusion: The statin class drug Rosuvastatin has better effectiveness than Pravastatin.

Abstract

Abstract. Gout is a metabolic disease caused by elevated uric acid levels in the blood (hyperuricemia), which can lead to joint pain and inflammation. The prevalence of gout continues to rise in line with high-purine diets and unhealthy lifestyles. Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are known to contain active compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and essential oils that act as inhibitors of xanthine oxidase, the main enzyme involved in uric acid formation. Utilizing bay leaves in the form of herbal tea is an innovative preparation that can be developed as an alternative functional beverage beneficial for lowering uric acid levels. This community service program aims to provide training to empower women with the skills to make bay leaf-based tea as a herbal product beneficial for health. Based on the educational activities on the use of medicinal plants in the Alalak Utara neighborhood complex, particularly herbal bay leaf tea, there was a significant increase in residents' knowledge, from 52.7% before education to 94.8% after education, with an improvement of 42.1%. Abstrak. Asam urat merupakan penyakit metabolik akibat tingginya kadar asam urat dalam darah (hiperurisemia) yang dapat menimbulkan nyeri dan peradangan pada sendi. Prevalensi asam urat terus meningkat seiring dengan pola makan tinggi purin dan gaya hidup yang kurang sehat. Daun salam (Syzygium polyanthum) merupakan tanaman yang diketahui mengandung senyawa aktif seperti flavonoid, tanin, saponin, dan minyak atsiri yang memiliki sebagai penghambat enzim xantin oksidase, enzim utama dalam pembentukan asam urat. Pemanfaatan daun salam dalam bentuk teh herbal merupakan salah satu bentuk inovasi sediaan yang dapat dikembangkan sebagai alternatif minuman fungsional yang bermanfaat dalam menurunkan kadar asam urat. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan untuk memberdayakan ibu-ibu dengan keterampilan membuat teh berbahan dasar daun salam sebagai produk herbal yang bermanfaat untuk kesehatan. Berdasarkan kegiatan edukasi pemanfaatan tanaman obat di Komplek Kelurahan Alalak Utara, khususnya teh herbal daun salam, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan warga yang signifikan, dari 52,7% sebelum edukasi menjadi 94,8% setelah edukasi, dengan peningkatan sebesar 42,1%.

Abstract

Abstract. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum) is a popular spice due to its distinctive taste and aroma. However, because of a lack of knowledge about the health benefits of cinnamon, it tends to be used only as a flavoring agent. The aim of this program is to increase the local community’s knowledge and practical skills in the sustainable use of cinnamon, as well as to empower them to process cinnamon into high-value products with various health benefits. This program consists of three stages: preparation (survey and preparation of educational materials), implementation (education and training), and evaluation. Education was delivered directly using leaflets. The evaluation results showed that 18 participants (94.7%) experienced an increase in knowledge, and there was an improvement in the practical skills of participants as directly observed by the team. Participants were able to understand the process of making cinnamon candy as demonstrated and were able to practice it independently. Abstrak. Kayu manis (Cinnamomum) merupakan rempah yang populer karena rasa dan aromanya yang khas. Namun, karena kurangnya pengetahuan tentang manfaat kesehatan kayu manis, rempah ini cenderung hanya digunakan sebagai bumbu untuk menambah cita rasa. Tujuan dari program ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan praktis masyarakat lokal dalam pemanfaatan kayu manis secara berkelanjutan, serta memberdayakan mereka untuk mengolah kayu manis menjadi produk bernilai tinggi dengan berbagai manfaat kesehatan. Program ini terdiri dari tiga tahap: persiapan (survei dan penyusunan materi edukasi), pelaksanaan (edukasi dan pelatihan), dan evaluasi. Edukasi diberikan secara langsung menggunakan leaflet. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 18 peserta (94,7%) mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan, dan terdapat peningkatan keterampilan praktis peserta yang diamati langsung oleh tim. Peserta mampu memahami proses pembuatan permen kayu manis yang telah didemonstrasikan dan dapat mempraktikkannya secara mandiri.
