Abstract

This study identifies the issues of insufficient effective teaching materials and minimal utilization of technology in education. Teaching models that do not involve student participation and the suboptimal use of educational media can hinder conceptual understanding and result in low cognitive learning outcomes and scientific reasoning skills among students. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the Guided Inquiry model integrated with audiovisual media to enhance conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning in teaching static fluids. The research employs a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving tenth-grade students from a senior high school in Palu during the 2023/2024 academic year. A cluster random sampling technique was used to select participants. Data collection was carried out using pretests and posttests to measure the improvement in both conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning. The results show an average normalized gain score of 0.59 for conceptual understanding, categorized as moderate, and 0.70 for scientific reasoning, categorized as high. Furthermore, a strong, significant correlation (r = 0.61) was found between conceptual understanding and scientific reasoning, indicating that the use of audiovisual media in guided inquiry enhances not only knowledge acquisition but also critical thinking skills. Therefore, this learning model is recommended for use in science education in schools to optimize students' cognitive and scientific reasoning skills. The findings of this research carry significant implications for the advancement of educational practices, particularly in the field of science learning. By highlighting key areas that require attention, the study provides insights that can inform curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies. This, in turn, can enhance student engagement and understanding, ultimately leading to more effective and meaningful learning experiences in science education.

Abstract

Arts, Culture, and Crafts (SBdP) education in rural Indonesian elementary schools faces persistent challenges due to reliance on conventional lecture-based instruction, resulting in suboptimal student engagement and learning outcomes. Audio-visual media offers potential pedagogical advantages through dual-channel information processing, yet empirical evidence regarding its effectiveness in elementary arts education remains limited. This study investigated the effect of audio-visual media on second-grade students' learning outcomes in SBdP at Parigimpu'u Public Elementary School. A quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control groups was employed, involving nine students divided into experimental (n=5) and control (n=4) groups. The experimental group received instruction incorporating audio-visual media demonstrating piggy bank construction techniques, while the control group received conventional instruction. Performance-based assessments measuring accuracy, neatness, creativity, and timeliness were administered as pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent samples t-test. The experimental group achieved significantly higher posttest scores (M=95.83, SD=2.95) compared to the control group (M=85.94, SD=6.99), with statistical analysis confirming significance (t=2.975, p<0.05). All experimental group students surpassed the minimum passing threshold, demonstrating substantial improvement from baseline. Audio-visual media significantly enhances learning outcomes in elementary SBdP education by facilitating concrete visualization, reducing cognitive load, and promoting active engagement, supporting its integration into arts curricula particularly in resource-constrained rural schools.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum represents Indonesia's response to pandemic-induced learning disruptions, emphasizing learner-centered pedagogy and differentiated instruction. However, implementation at specific grade levels, particularly fourth grade as a critical transition point, remains insufficiently documented. This study examined Independent Curriculum implementation in fourth grade at SD Inpres 1 Tondo, focusing on learning planning, instructional implementation, and assessment practices. A qualitative descriptive case study was conducted over three months (August-October 2025) with one purposively selected fourth-grade teacher. Data were collected through non-participant classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis of teaching modules and assessment instruments. Data analysis employed Miles et al.'s interactive model involving data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings revealed comprehensive teacher understanding of curriculum principles and systematic learning planning incorporating diagnostic assessments and differentiated strategies. Implementation demonstrated student-centered approaches and varied media utilization. However, persistent challenges emerged including limited student engagement during transition periods, inadequate infrastructure constraining material distribution, textbook variation complicating delivery, insufficient family support, and assessment complexity in holistic evaluation. Teacher adaptation of standardized instruments reflected contextual responsiveness but raised standardization concerns. Independent Curriculum implementation quality depends on dynamic interactions among teacher competence, institutional resources, family involvement, and systemic support. Successful realization requires comprehensive ecosystem approaches addressing professional development, infrastructure investment, parent engagement, and assessment literacy simultaneously.

Abstract

The independent curriculum was present because of the Covid-19 pandemic at the end of December 2019, becoming one of the points where the continuity of education, especially in Indonesia, experienced changes. The learning crisis that occurred accompanied by the emergency conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic had a major impact on changes in education in Indonesia. Based on the results of observations conducted by researchers at SDN Inti No. 2 Pewunu, teachers are able to apply indicators in implementing the independent curriculum. These teachers have been able to implement the independent curriculum in accordance with the guidelines contained in the independent curriculum book and are implemented comprehensively. There are several steps in the independent curriculum learning model, especially in Arts and Crafts subjects, including apperception activities, modeling, constructivism, inquiry, learning communities, assessment, asking questions and reflection. For example, activities such as asking students to create works in Arts and Crafts learning are carried out by working together in groups, which can hone students to be able to work together and think critically. This study shows that implementing the independent curriculum in elementary school, especially in Arts and Crafts, helps improve students' teamwork and critical thinking. The use of constructivist activities, inquiry models, and reflection makes students more engaged in learning. Additionally, group-based tasks and assessments improve their understanding and encourage creativity. This approach provides teachers with the opportunity to adapt their methods to better meet students' needs in the post-pandemic education era.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of inclusive education management on services for children with special needs (ABK) at Zion Elementary School, Palu. The study used a quantitative, comparative, causal (ex post facto) design, which focuses on cause-and-effect relationships based on conditions that have occurred without experimental treatment. The study population was the principal and all 17 class teachers at Zion Elementary School, Palu, who were also sampled through a saturated sampling technique. Data collection techniques included a questionnaire as the main instrument, along with observation, interviews, and documentation to strengthen the research results. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis to describe the conditions of the research variables and inferential analysis using simple linear regression in SPSS to test the hypothesis. The results showed that the significance value was 0.021 < 0.05, indicating that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. This means that inclusive education management significantly influences services for children with special needs at Zion Elementary School in Palu. This finding indicates that the quality of ABK services is greatly influenced by the effectiveness of inclusive education management, especially in planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. Thus, the better the implementation of inclusive education management, the more effective the services provided to children with special needs, both academically and socially. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for improving the quality of inclusive education services in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between inclusive education management and the learning of children with special needs (ABK) at Zion Elementary School, Palu. This study uses a quantitative, correlational research design to test the relationship between inclusive education management variables (independent variables) and ABK learning (dependent variable). The population in this study comprised all teachers at Zion Elementary School in Palu, with a sample of 17 selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, making it suitable as a research instrument. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test, assisted by SPSS version 27. Before testing the hypothesis, a prerequisite normality test was conducted using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The results showed a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.407, indicating a moderate relationship. However, the significance test yielded a p-value of 0.105, which exceeds the significance level of 0.05, indicating that the relationship between the two variables was not statistically significant. These findings indicate that inclusive education management is related to the learning of children with special needs, but it is not a dominant factor directly influencing their learning. Therefore, improving the quality of learning for children with special needs requires support from other factors, such as teacher competence, the availability of infrastructure, and collaboration among relevant parties.
