Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study illustrates the imagination of corrupt politicians from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) about money through observing the metaphors they use to replace the word "money" when conducting cell phone conversations revealed in court. The discussion focuses on the metaphorical expressions of two PKS politicians, in the case of bribery by Commissioner of PT Cahaya Mas Perkasa, So Kok Seng, related to road reconstruction projects in Maluku and North Maluku in 2017. The Conceptual Metaphor theory is used to uncover the semantic fields of the metaphors they create. Thus, the corruptor's imagination can be revealed. It was found that through metaphors they think of money as a sacred object like the Holy Book.ABSTRAKStudi ini menganalisa imajinasi politisi korup dari Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) tentang uang dengan mengamati metafora yang mereka gunakan untuk mengganti kata "uang" ketika melakukan percakapan telepon seluler yang diungkapkan di pengadilan. How to Cite: Hadiyansyah, D., Hidayat, D.N. (2019). Abstract

UIN Jakarta, with its distinct characteristics, focuses on integrating Islamic and general education as a unity. This research focuses on the oldest faculty: The Faculty of Educational Sciences (FITK, hereafter). This study aims to a) explore the concept of integration of Islamic and general education at FITK, and b) find out the extent to which lecturers at FITK understand the concept of integration. The approach used in this research was phenomenology. It employed the qualitative method to describe the concept of integration of Islamic and general education and reveal the extent of lecturers' understanding of scientific integration. The results showed that at the conceptual level, the paradigm of reintegration of Islamic and general education is an integration of Islamic knowledge and values, which is two-way: from secular sciences to Islamic values and from conventional Islamic religious materials to secular sciences. The study also found that scientific integration has long been present in the FITK academic environment. However, the concept of scientific integration itself does not appear to be a uniformity which causes many different interpretations from each study program, even from lecturers in the FITK environment. In addition, the concept of scientific integration has not been fully understood by each leader in the academic community of UIN Jakarta, mainly due to the lack of socialization and no appointment for specific institutions responsible for managing this integration process.

Abstract

This paper is a case study that aims to take a closer look at how punishments and rewards are implemented at the Al-Azhar Islamic Boarding School and what the obstacles are in both male and female dormitories. The data obtained through observation and in-depth interviews. This study found that the Islamic boarding schools have four categories of rules that if violated, the perpetrators will be sanctioned, namely ritual, cleanliness, behavior, and security. The form of punishment is graded ranging from verbal reprimand to being fired from the pesantren or even the formal school. Meanwhile, there are a number of obstacles in the application of rewards and punishment, namely: inconsistency, unilateral rules, lack of knowledge of child psychology, minimal facilities and infrastructure, and imbalance between rewards and punishments

Abstract

children and parents. Thus far, these two sacred texts have been used as the basis for a children’s obedience to their parents. In this sense, being obedient to both parents, whether the ordered is obligatory, sunnah or permissible, is a must. Likewise, if parents forbid from unlawful, makruh or permissible actions, the children are obliged to obey. In this view, obedience to parents is absolute; there is no concept of self-boundary, which in psychology is valued as an important component in the growth of a healthy identity. The study found that, by using Hermeneutics of Tawhid, the interpretation of the two texts becomes more fair, namely the form of obedience of children to their parents lies in the obedience to roles and functions in the family system. When parents act as caregivers in the family, children need to obey them as the owner of the authority; conversely, when the caregiver role changes, parents need to adjust to the new situation. Through this interpretation, the parent-child relationship pattern can be seen as a bond capable of supporting the sakinah family concept. Wadud's Hermeneutics of Tawhid gives us the opportunity to read texts with a broad horizon of thinking in order to produce more acceptable meanings for those who think logically. This meaning would be more functional to be applied in everyday life in society, not the meaning that only exists in the world of ideas.[Artikel ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan kajian teks, yang fokus pada Surat al-Isra ayat 23 dan Hadits tentang hubungan antara anak dan orang tua.

Abstract

Symbolism through coloring is commonly used in various social communications because color is significant for representing ideas, feelings, emotions, beliefs, and spirituality. Color gives character to objects and aboutness, including the color of lipstick on someone’s lips. This descriptive-qualitative study using in-depth interviews explored how female students at the Al-Azhar University of Indonesia (UAI) represented certain meanings through their choice of lipstick colors. This study was conducted objectively and avoided gender bias. The research found that even though they semiotically did not know the associative or connotative meaning of certain colors, the informants admitted to using lipstick for various reasons, namely, for the face to look bright and fresh, being more confident and prettier, showing their natural beauty, and displaying a cheerful impression. However, the analysis proved that after taking a closer look at the 10 lipstick color choices that have been reviewed, the subconscious message they want to convey is quite complex, ranging from optimism, cheerfulness, joy, modesty, warmth, wanting to be the center of attention, femininity, passion and love, and sensuality.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service program introduced Canva, a graphic design platform, to elementary school students as part of the University of Al-Azhar Indonesia’s Gerakan Nasional Revolusi Mental, under the theme of “Digital Literacy and Ethics”. The program was carried out at Al-Fityan School Tangerang on August 21, 2023. Students, in 4th grade, were trained to create a poster using Canva. They were asked to choose one of their five favorite things: mom, dad, hobby, food, or animal. The results showed that the popular choice was between “hobby” and “animal” while the least popular was “dad”. All 28 students produced their own posters and even six of them produced two posters. In this regard, the training of Canva seemed to be effective. There should be a continuation of training using the similar theme to Al-Fityan students for the future program given students’ progress and enthusiasm. Keywords – Canva, Gerakan Nasional Revolusi Mental, Poster Creation, Fourth Graders, Digital Literacy

Abstract

The activities of the National Movement for Mental Revolution (GNRM) are located at Al Fityan School Tangerang. These activities aim to introduce teaching and learning by using CLT or the Communicative Language Teaching method through mini-games. The main problem is that elementary students require more fun in teaching due to their changing moods and mental states to absorb experiences and knowledge. We handled the 4th-grade elementary school students, all of them were boys. The teaching was focused on various topics, however, this paper was focused on “like and dislike”, knowing that children tend to express their moods and feelings. This activity was based on 28 samples based on questionnaires collected from students. The findings show that students were able to express themselves when mentioning two things (what do they like and what don’t they like) with proper vocabulary and grammarKeywords: Elementary School, Qualitative, CLT, Like, and Dislike
